Easily and probably will.  There is no way the top 20 stays the same.  There will be a new fad and new coins get mega pumped just like in every other cycle.  One thing is almost certain though, bitcoin will end up in first just like it always has.  That's why altcoins aren't meant for bag holding.

That's always going to happen during a bull market and there's going to be a shift in the ranking of coins in the market, because we often see that during a bull market investors will put their money into the coins pumping higher, so I think only coins that can capitalize on this momentum well are will shift the positions of other coins but we can't predict which coins will be out of top 20 in the next bull market but if the coins you mention can't capitalize on the bull market momentum well then there is a chance they will drop out of the ranking.

I'm actually looking at matic, doge and Solana and if time not taking we might find BNB as well but due to they are global leading exchange would likely remain. For instance, in the past few years i have been closely watching over NEO and EOS these two coin where the best of all time and i think have also been among of the 20 top altcoin but after which i can't find them in the top anymore and i don't think there is something productive about them, i barely see anyone posting about those project or even a thread talking about these coin. Although EOS managed to remain among the top 40 altcoin while NEO slide down to rank 70.
This is to say not all altcoin usually maintained their position as time goes.

For the fact that,  any project that is operating in the top 20 on coin market capitalization will build an enabling ecosystem that will not allow them to miss out of the bull run unless those projects that already have a pre planned dump mechanism. Top 20 ranking is mostly dominated by coins with sustainable ecosystem but that does not eliminate the chances of dump, Luna coin did is and Solana is doing same right now.

I believe that building an ecosystem is not that easy, which means it is going to take a long time before we could see them do it. Top 20 is also a lot bigger than we could imagine for such a thing, it just doesn't make sense to make it that way.

I believe that the best thing to do would be just focusing on how we could do much more with so little and hope it works. Top 20 means it is already a giant and worths millions of dollars, tens of millions of dollars even, for some even hundreds, and for a few billions! So in order to be there, you have to be great at what you do, doesn't have to be ecosystem but whatever it is, it has to be great for sure.

We can't predict which coins to drop out and which coins to rise up to the top 20, but we can analyze it based on the current development of the coins. Those coins which have bad issues and lose the interest from investors, may drop out from top 20 in the next bullrun season. And which coins that seem to be hyped in the next year, may rise up to the top 20 coins.

There's always a shift or something these things to be typical on where old projects been replaced by new ones, if we do consider that recognition does changed up overtime then there's always a probability
that they would really be having be replaced by newer projects which it not something new.If you do really have that plans on sticking with the recent top ranking coins then you should
consider out these probabilities and chances. We've seen out the comparison and we arent that dumb not to notice out those differences which is something

some altcoins are meant for bag holding though like eth that has retained its position across many cycle of bullruns and bearish including BNB I guess, but the other coins not so much, doesn't mean they are bad for investments in general, if you find alts that have potential and still relatively low in value it could be good for bagholding, so basically when it comes to alts the moment you make your investments is essential.
otherwise if you don't want to make analyse and just outright want to make some investments it's always advised to invest in btc taking big share of your investments and then put the rest in alts for diversification.

I agree with this. If you can go back with time, there are a lot of altcoins that are only temporary and they are only driven by hype every time there's a bull market happening. This list is the newest altcoins that pop.

There is this logic where you are going to be forced to think of it like something that is "fighting" or competing or whatever else you want to name it similar to that. Because the market is filled with coins who are trying to be as high as possible, and there are also situations that hurt some of the projects as well.

This means that some of them will get better by working hard and doing some great things while others will go down because they face some troubles. This causes the ranks to change, not just at the top but everywhere and that is why a coin you get could go up high or could go down and you need to be careful about which one you pick.

Having your own basis before investing is a good idea before investing because its really hard to know which one will not be part of the top 20 anymore. Yes Ethereum is an altcoin without a doubt and certainly much more stable,
those are things that usually happen when the market is bullish so we have to be careful,

The position is not permanent for any particular project as you said, it is a bear market and some of the top projects are going through the same pressure as any other project in cmc. So it is very likely that some of them will not retain their current position except the market reverse and the projects maintain their market capitalization.

but btc will keep number one position for long time i hope,
and top 5 crypto position is very strong if considering their individual market, so top 5 position will not be changed even in this bearing market.

Yes Ethereum is an altcoin without a doubt and certainly much more stable,
those are things that usually happen when the market is bullish so we have to be careful,

Having trustworthy projects like eth and bnb would make sure that not only you will go up, but you will go up more than bitcoin probably. Not by a lot of course, but in a world where bitcoin goes up x5, eth could go up x6 and bnb could go up x7 which is not a huge difference, but it's still not a bad one at all.

It's also smart to diversify your portfolio, that way you would make a good profit while also protecting your portfolio in case anything happens to just one of them. Not likely that it would be any big trouble for these big three, but if you could also spend a little bit on other small stuff, just like %10 or so, that would be protecting you at least.

New projects could, but the old ones are there too. For example bnb and eth survived 2 huge ones, and we could even say ETH survived a third one technically speaking. Which means that there is a choice for you, will you go out and search for the one that will go into top 20, or will you pick one that is in top 20 already and stay in top 20?

The question is easy to answer for me, I rather pick something in top 20 right now and keep going with that, and if I can do that then it won't cause me any headache. Trying to find one that will be created and then go into top 20 will be hard to find between thousands that are created, and I will most likely fail so why do that at all?

I feel that Doge and Shib coin has Very high that these will fail to retain their places because these are memes coins and any time it can be collapsed like Luna. Solona was also so weak but now sudden meme coin trend on Solona network work for Solona coin also and now it's volume once again looking so good.
BTC, Eth,Bnb,usdt,Usdc,ltc will be retain theirs places in my view because these tokens has very large number of Holder and high transaction after every second. Still there is high competition and bull season will disclose the right order of top 20 coins.

Oh yes. If ever the bull market arrived, There's a high chance that a new trend will come along with that and the token that is align with that trend will surely climb the top20 of the CMC positions. These coins mentioned isn't that much relevant last 2018 bear market and they replaced old coins. I believe that projects are being better and better along the time and those who are on the top spots who aren't producing well on their product will surely be replaced from their current spot. A bull market is so powerful that the marketcap of each token grows so much especially those projects who are align with the trend since they get much traffic because investor can get much bigger profit from them.

NEO and EOS were at the top of the hype in 2017-2018, at that time, in terms of the level of hype, they were about the same as Polygon or something similar now. Even here on the forum there were heated discussions about these projects. Then something went wrong and they started losing investors and support fast. EOS was with the claim that it would take Ethereum's place. The project was extremely ambitious, but the plans weren't destined to come to fruition.

Yes, except for Ethereum, all altcoins are constantly changing their market rank.

But I don't agree with you about BNB, generally centralized exchanges are not to be trusted, we are still under the bad effect of FTX incident and we saw what happened to FTT token also Huobi exchange HT token is in danger.

Binance has recently been under pressure, causing BNB to lose a large part of its value. What I mean is that BNB is highly affected by the pressures and problems that Binance may be exposed to in the future, so it cannot be trusted with any central exchange coin.

It changes from time to time due to the changing demand and trades in the market. But there is one thing I was sure of that Bitcoin will remain on top and then be followed by ETH. But with those on the top 10-20 coins, that can possibly change. Well, I have no worries about it because I don't have any of these coins in my wallet. I have BTC and ETH at this time, and it gives me confidence that I make rewards after this bear season. I expect Solana to drop more after the latest issue connecting to a new project.
