~snip~
If the marriage will lead to husband or wife also becoming heir, will they be able to convince the fiscal authorities that they do _not_ know the key in the incident of inheritance?

The moment any coins move from the address they will know that she has the keys.

So, it's pretty simple to check if anyone has control of a dead man's keys.

This story sounds made up.

It is funny though because there is a kind of ringing way that aspects of it could be true.. and reflective of relationship dynamics, even though it presents as a piece of fiction.
As a woman i'm, i write according to the my exposure which i have only gotten from my husband moreover his is mostly occupied having a very little time teach me coupled with his work and i m putting my best to learn things for myself over here. Though i know isn't that a little task sitting and reading couple with the home chores.

Maybe if you don't believe, i have created a thread where i asked if "Is there best way to seek people's attention on bitcoin? which many advised me to first buy and hold bitcoin which is my next target.
There were lot of replies please don't crucify me as i m not perfect in posting and making long stories also i m leaning around here. So i won't get angry for any words coming from anyone most especially people like you i do love them to learn from them.

Ok.  I will look at your thread, and see if there might be anything that I might be able to say.

I will also point out that if you are finding bitcoin to be very confusing, it can take a real long time to start to feel comfortable in understanding, and surely there are better sources of information as compared with other sources of information.  There are a lot of basic threads too... that are oriented towards beginners, and sometimes if you are reading through basic threads and not getting distracted into shitcoins, then after a while you will likely get stronger and stronger in your abilities to contribute towards having more interesting conversations with your husband on the topic.  As you likely imagine, anyone who is teaching will feel better if the student is also doing homework and working on understanding various issues that you may have already discussed with your husband..

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

It is true that Bitcoin is confusing for the people who have not yet taken entry in crypto space, because it is relatively new technology and there are many aspects such as how it works, how to create wallet & store it securely as well as save its seeds phrases , how and when to buy and sell it and how to get its price update. These all factors look difficult in the beginning but once you start learning its fundamentals, its strengths & potential of growth, I am sure, you fall in love with this great technology.

Of course yes, I completely trust my wife and share all my secrets with her. To be honest, I feel more secure when I give it to my wife because she is much more careful than I am. I don't want my bitcoins to go unused if I have an unexpected accident and it's a pity that my assets cannot be left to my family.

In fact, it is very difficult to be responsible for your funds, to be responsible for their safety, especially since it can be difficult based on the latest news, when even 200 bitcoins were stolen from Bitcoin Core developers. This is a big responsibility, not everyone can handle it. And this is just one of the challenges to overcome when you decide to invest in bitcoin. But the risks must be commensurate with the expected profit, this should be the decisive factor for making a decision.

It is still unthinkable to give a seed phrase to your wife even though she is a person who has pledged allegiance as a life partner in life. What if one day a romantic relationship turns into a mess that eventually leads to divorce.
Instead of giving something as precious as a seed phrase to your wife, it's better to look for other alternatives to be safer.

Why not share the seed phrase with your wife if she knows nothing about crypto? My wife doesn't know about crypto, but I shared everything with her, and so far everything is fine. Because they know nothing about it doesn't mean they will betray you or lose it. They may even store them better than we do because we told them they are a very important asset, and they will never neglect it. As long as both have mutual trust, it doesn't matter to have knowledge of cryptocurrencies.

Probably referring to shitcoins goes beyond the topic of this thread, because we are in a bitcoin discussion thread, and as soon as we start to talk about "crypto" and shitcoins we are going beyond the topic of this thread - and new questions are added that can be discussed somewhere else, but probably not so good to get into that vague crap in this thread, since we are in the bitcoin discussions section.  Why overly confuse the topic with those new (additional) considerations?

With bitcoin, it is one thing to hold your bitcoin with a third-party or an exchange, but in those cases, most of the time, there is not going to be any seed phrase involved.. but there might be passwords and things like that.

If we are starting to talk about holding your own bitcoin outside of exchanges, then we are likely talking about seed phrases that protect wallets.  Yes, some kinds of wallets can hold other shitcoins too.. and those seed phrases could be used to recover all the "crypto" in those wallets - which may well include bitcoin and various shitcoins too.  So, I suppose in those cases in which wallets hold bitcoin and shitcoins, there could be discussions of "crypto" that are held in those locations.. but still, seemingly to be more confusing to referring to some vague bullshit with the term "crypto," and then wondering whether we are talking about bitcoin or some other topic?

How much bitcoin, and then what is the other non-bitcoin crap that you are including in your wallets that you control and then you are also going to train your spouse beyond bitcoin, too?   I suppose that it might be necessary to describe the differences in case your spouse might not know, and then there might be some concerns about how long to hold each of the various shitcoins, what are the reasons for investing in them and how to liquidate them. which may or may not be the same as bitcoin.

Some wallets support shitcoins and some do not, so then the conversation might involve some kind of description of here is my bitcoin and the various places that I hold my bitcoin, and then here are my shitcoins and the various places that I hold my shitcoins.   If anything happens to me, then look in these various places for my bitcoin balances and there might be shitcoins there too.. or there might not be any shitcoins in there.. but these are the places to look and here are the various ways that each of these wallets are backed up or maybe if there are passwords to access various third party accounts..

I guess the punchline in this thread should be focusing on bitcoin and take conversations of shitcoins (or crypto) to other threads, even if there might be some overlap, it seems to go beyond the topic area of this thread.. especially if you are just vaguely referring to all of it as crypto, so then it becomes unclear whether you are talking about bitcoin or not or the extent to which your description is related to bitcoin, if at all.

In addition to telling a wife, one can tell a child/children that can be trusted and not defraud a parent. I found keeping cryptocurrency so delicate especially as a small holder. Anonymity in this space has its disadvantages, such as the fact that compromised wallets and stolen coins cannot be recovered even when they are tracked. It is therefore essential to educate the immediate family on how to access and trade coins to prevent them from being defrauded later when they must enlist assistance from outside their family.

It's normal for a couple to experience some fights and misunderstandings at some point of their married life but we should try our best to not break the relationship that we build for years most especially if we already have children because this will affect them badly and other than that, we should remember that we already shared our keys to our wife. In case a divorce can happen then your coins will be in danger.

I am sure we don't want that to happen. You can say that we can give other alternatives to our wife. It can be our bank account or the key to our vaults but I think it's hard to keep our cryptos in our own self as wives will try to investigate if what their husbands are doing. They will always found out about your cryptos later on.

When a man gets married to a woman to become husband and wife, they become one and everyone expects that they can get to share everything with each other. I know of women who have the passwords to their husbands bank cards and they can make withdrawals on his behalf. I will like to ask the Men here if they have shared their seed phrase with their wife's? I will like to ask the women here how they will feel if their husbands refuse telling them their seed phrase?

If my wife is a crypto enthusiast then I might consider telling her but if she's the type that has no interest at all I'm crypto and Bitcoin then I see no reason why I should tell me because if I do she still might be unable to use it or if she decides to learn how to import a wallet because she wants to make use of what's inside she might end up exposing the secret phrase because she doesn't have a vast knowledge on how to keep your secret phrase safe. They're so many things to consider before deciding on whether you want to share the secret phrase with your wife or you want to keep it to yourself.

Or I could go for an alternative like writing a will for my secret that if anything unfortunate was to occur that she should be given the secret phrase and also a crypto expert  should be assigned to help her do whatever it is that she wants to do with what's inside the wallet and the whole process of the person in charge should be transparent to prevent any illicit behavior.

Telling it to your children will depend on how old they are, a young and old kid will not probably understand it but at some point they'll remember it when they grow up.
Telling it to your wife varies to the type of person you are but if you can't give it to your wife, you just have to explain it to her that you can't give it out to her easily.
There are failed marriages due to financial matters and they're even living the best life that they've got and still, I've seen those marriages fell because of particular reasons like related to money and insurances.

No, definitely not... I can write my seed phrase on a piece of paper and bury it somewhere, and they only know where I buried it. It can't be any more than that. Also, no one can dig where I buried the seed phrase until I die. Otherwise, I might start a small-scale war. :) After I die, they can all be theirs, and they can happily spend it. Of course, I would like them to hold Bitcoins and I would advise them in this direction all my life...

Sharing seed phrase to your wife I think based on how long have build with household, when having more than ten years I don't think not trust each other between husband and wife. Nothing hidden when you have household more than ten year and sharing them about seed phrase is not fault.

Keep depending with your household situation, if you can trust with your wife no matter sharing seed phrase to them and educate about how access seed phrase until detail way for withdrawing cryptocurreny assets in your cold wallet, but if you still doubt about your wife loyal or not looking other alternative people you can trust and secure with your assets when sharing seed phrase.

There's nothing wrong with that and it's normal. Maintaining a harmonious relationship is a difficult thing but if in living it we are able to maintain two minds in one bond it will be very beautiful and enjoyable.
Regarding home life, I agree with you.

For me, it doesn't matter if what I give to my wife is a crypto key, but I am not willing to give a Bitcoin seed phrase, because crypto is different from Bitcoin.
My mind is very simple to avoid things that I don't want.

If couples can share bank's password with each other, I will say nothing is wrong in sharing wallet's recovery phrase too. One of the risks attached to such is if the spouse will not be careless to get the recovery phrase exposed to a third party which might be dubious.
Another is that the real owner might no longer be careful about losing the recovery phrase like when he was the only one having it.

The only advantage I see in sharing the recovery phrase with one's spouse is that the fund in the wallet will no go to waste in the case of the one's unexpected death like we've seen many who died with their wallet recovery phrase not known by anybody.

The trust in your life partner is main thing that will show how much strong bond both have with each other.I have seen so many cases where wife/husband cheated on each other and in this cases sharing your seeds phrases is very risky. But on the bright side if they have loving and caring attitude towards each other and share each details then seed phrases should be disclosed and where they have been stored so in case they need it in your absence they can access it.But as I say if you have trust on them.

Maybe I'll just tell you about where I always keep it or how I store it. But I'm pretty sure a lot of people here don't tell their wives about seed phrases. Not because I didn't want to tell. but because most wives are not too interested to ask their husbands about this further. so it's not because of a matter of believing or not in a wife. But because sometimes a wife is rarely interested in this. At least that's what I hear a lot. so that the husband does not have the right time to tell everything.
