[SOLVED]Radeon RX Vega 64 video card problem: I can't get it recognized by syste

Hi to everybody.
I bought a Radeon RX Vega 64 8 GB and yesterday I tried to install on mining rig. I must point out that until yesterday 3 RX 580 Sapphire Nitro and 1 Nvidia 1660 TI cards were installed. I removed all the cards and tried to install the VEGA 64, but the system does not see it.

Motherboard is B250 Mining Board BTC 12GPU

Where I was wrong? What do I have to do to make the system to see the card?

Check in another working PC that you might have,if it works there normally it should also work in the B250 which for me personally is one of the best mining motherboards out there.Where did you bought the card?I don't think you bought it new as they are rare to find as new nowadays so most likely you bought it used,so as I said you should check in another PC you have available and if it works there then it is time to troubleshoot the issue in B250 board but you should try it in another PC as that is the first thing to do in such case.

If it works in the other PC,try to put first the card in the x16 slot and then try a 010S version riser.

If you use risers. Did you try to swap them? I had several cases where the riser died when it was turned off after days/months of duty.

The motherboard isn't a new one, but it works fine with 4 RX 580. Other PC, just like B250, haven't got any PCIe x16 slot, so I have to use riser. My risers aren't 010S version, but why do you advise this version?
Should I change any setting on motherboard BIOS?

You must have a separate computer to test video cards. You don't need a PC but a motherboard, processor, memory and power supply, + any 64 GB SSD. You can buy it very cheap on AM3 socket architecture.
If I buy a used video card, then I disassemble it, change the thermal paste and thermal pads as necessary, clean it from dust, test it and then install it in the mining farm.Even if you bought a video card with verification, it may be damaged during transportation.

1st check the card on pcie 16x without riseir.if you still dont see your card then there is problem with card

I called rx vega 56 and 64 pain in the ass graphic cards  , I used to own a complete 6 rigs with 56 and 64 RX vega and I saw hell managing them, they frequently give me problem, one minute it's all detected and later two gpu will be missing in Hive OS.


Connect the GPU directly to x16 slot without the riser, let's see what happens doing this first.

Video cards 56 and 64 RX vega have difficulties with overclocking settings and usually the vega 56 video card was flashed with bios from vega 64 to get a larger hashrate, but there were no big problems with these video cards. You won't get that experience with Nvidia

per quanto riguarda il problema che avevo rilevato nel primo post, la soluzione è stata alimentare adeguatamente la scheda, e quindi collegando 2 cavi da 8 pin nei rispettivi alloggiamenti alimentandoli con un alimentatore di potenza adeguata

Vega 64 has been 5 years coming, assuming you bought reference card and if that card in shelf for 3months+, it might be fungus run down the pcb, but dont worry its happen in gpu mining specially old gpus, just clean up with detergent for half hours after that wash with alcohol, dry up under sun or something hot for 6hrs, put it back again, if still not working use hotgun 260c for about 50s each component. Most likely it will run again, goodluck
