The person responsible for our defeat is Vincenzo Montella. I don’t think he analyzed Australia at all. They only have one way of playing, and that’s on the counterattack. Australia came forward only three or four times and scored twice.
No matter how much possession we had, we couldn’t break through their defensive line. It seems Montella didn’t have a solution for that either.
It was a very poor start.
It's very poor start for Turkey but it's a perfect match for Australia as in the other matches, Australian players will not have such high goal scoring ability. This match is simply a match for Australia so their players scored goals in most of chances they had. With Turkey and Montella, I don't know why they did not use Kenan Yildiz at the match start, because he is a very good attacking player.
If Yildiz had started in this match, Turkey would have had diversifying attacking power from both Arda Guller and Kenan Yildiz, then Australian players would have gotten more challenge and possibly made defensive mistakes.
With this bad start, Montella and Turkey will have next two stressful matches especially a next match. They will have to aim at winning a next match if they don't want to face with high risk of going home too early in this World Cup.
