I have always dreamed of accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment since the year 2017 even before I became a master in my money-making haven ( fashion designer ) and now the time has finally come, today I start accepting Bitcoin payments. Yippy 💥💥💥



Truthfully only three of my customers are willing to pay me in Bitcoin for now and that's because I was even the one that teach them about Bitcoin since last year 2021 and now they are also investors too. I believe that as time goes on many will develop an interest as well.



There are too many people that don't know anything about Bitcoin here, few who knew about it call it a scam, I blame that on lack of knowledge but some are willing to listen and learn, I will keep doing what I do best.

Just an advice for you, make sure to make a public notice that could serve as a sign post or billboard to brand your fashion design with the acceptance of bitcoin for payment and also make like little palmflet showing the details and procedures to how one can make the payment with bitcoin and I don't know if you have also included the lightening network payment mode inclusive or better still to consider such in due time, this will also move your business forward and make payment for your services at more convenient with customers ready to pay in bitcoin.

the key to getting locals near you some acceptance of bitcoin is to help bitcoin locally. bitcoin has no brain. its just code after all. it has no arms or legs or body. no one is coming to your location to help, its the people in the area that have to promote it locally to get it accepted locally

a few idea's are (such as the pamphlet idea in the other post)
find local traders that are selling bitcoin where people can buy bitcoin from them. make it easy for them to buy bitcoin by listing how to get bitcoin

list some local places that accept bitcoin
if there is only 1 currently. then ask all those you know what is their regular retailer/service they visit where there is a common theme or desire to want that commonly used business to accept bitcoin(demand) and teach that store about bitcoin, putting the store in touch with an exchange or local service/person willing to swap that stores bitcoin income into fiat to resupply stock.

here in the UK we have 'business networking' events where people meet up over coffee to discuss their business and how other businesses can help each others business grow to expand the local eco-system

basically start your own local community and get people networking together for a common goal.

one thats a major bitcoin buyer, someone to convert bitcoin to fiat for other businesses
one thats a major bitcoin seller, someone to convert fiat to bitcoin for other businesses

or
create a co-operative of multiple people that club together as micro buyers/sellers to work together to do swaps as needed

or a CEX(centralised exchange) for bitcoin that handles your countries fiat type that can do the swaps

then when you have the easy access in and out of bitcoin locally and easy to describe how to get it/sell it, then get the local retailers/services to get onboard too

once you have more locals involved your local customerbase paying you in bitcoin will expand and your employees accepting bitcoin as a wage will be more happy in accepting it as they will have ways to buy something locally or swap locally. thus expanding the bitcoin eco-system in your area

some people start slow. such as pitting a small 5% of employees income into bitcoin as a form of pension savings amount

I’m Nigerian and I believe that’s why OP is from obviously. The people wearing a tape can’t be customers, they are obviously workers. You don’t need writing on the wall to know that. Yeah the first time I noticed the two ladies, I already think that they are workers not customer.  They have the measuring tape, the uniform ( see their outfit).  The two girl are helping @OP in flashing the Bitcoin accepted here board. 

Btw, @OP it would be nice if you create a banner or a tarpaulin with Bitcoin accepted here design and much better if you can put on the entrance of your store.  It will surely attract attention and curiosity to those who are new with the Bitcoin payment system.

Congratulations OP on fulfilling your dream. I’m optimistic 2023 will bring more customers who will transact in bitcoin at your store. I like the initiative, three customers is a good start. I don’t like the positioning of the “bitcoin accepted here” stickers, there are in a dark corner of the room and it isn’t that visible. The stickers are good but it will be better if you make a bigger banner just outside your store that’s say you accept bitcoin or you reposition the stickers you already have and put them on the front door, that would create more visibility and attract more people.

Quite happy when bitcoin became the payment option for some businesses managed by members here, but why do those who post small adoptions like this only provide a paper photo "Accept Bitcoin" but do not include digital proof of transactions made or just make a payment attempt using the normal Bitcoin Network or you can use Lightning Network.

I haven't found any evidence of that in some of the stories that accept Bitcoin.

The idea is almost the same from one thread to another, still regarding adoption which is most likely closed to the public, let alone known to the government. I'm in no rush to jump to conclusions as to what the purpose of this thread is, but the OP has done it for the early stages.

I prefer transparent adoption rather than being done secretly where the OP only uses a piece of paper that he accepts bitcoin as a means of payment for his business. But I think regulations still prevent OP from doing it legally. Really?

Over the years I've experienced a big change around the world in terms of cryptocurrency acceptance into their businesses. Unlike the scale there are more and more businesses getting added to it. This is much needed one, as the usage of cryptocurrencies were getting widespread through different sources. In specific the widespread and people taking initiative to educate the person next to him/her is found much on the African countries. This is a post for raising awareness, and she did a good job of informing us that she now accepts bitcoin from her customers. The fact that a fashion designer developed this concept in her community is not necessarily a bad thing. Don't bruise her ego in her efforts in of sharing this wonderful news with us. You wouldn't expect her to call out her entire region to her bitcoin dealer; this is only for a start (three persons). Gradually it will become known that she accepts bitcoin as means of payment.

Unlike with other businesses which requires huge amount of raw materials; it is sewing which is somehow being paid in BTC, I think, in this case so it would work more efficiently. Why? In food buisnesses who'd accept cryptocurrency as a mode of payment, perhaps, would somehow struggle because raw materials will be always needed, therefore, btc payments should also circulate on raw stocks to run that business. In fashion designing, (please correct me if I'm wrong), it is the talent of the designer which is more being paid in most instances so I hope accepting btc as a payment would work smoothly for your business.

If OP is a Nigerian and also living there I wouldn't advice such publicity since the government hasn't openly declared there intentions yet about bitcoin. Although there seems to be hopes of it been accepted by the Nigerian government with the recent lessen of its restrictions but till then I will advice the OP to stick to the little paper adverts rather than billboard. OP should also discuss about it acceptance as a fork of payment to only people who are already into it or people showing glimpse of getting involved into it, not to every random customer, for security purpose.

Those are my apprentices not my customers.. In my country Bitcoin isn't legalized yet so I don't want to have this on a billboard or signboard just yet, as for those saying I need to do more to inspire people do not forget the risks involved.

There is no point inspiring those that show no interest in something that's highly volatile, I only lecture those that are open to new ideas and are not scared of taking risks.

I don't have to become a vendor I am just promoting Bitcoin, I have 80% of my money invested in crypto and it's been a long time coming, this was what even inspired my customers, asking me questions and telling me to teach them.

Well somehow that's what the post mean but it really deserve since effort has been made for spreading the word of bitcoin on his neighborhood. Hopefully OP will not doing it because he was hype up by bitcoin and continue this for more better awareness about it on his place.

Of course, that's what I'm worried about. I do like someone posting their image in online forum, but some of them don't really protect their privacy very well. Please adopt as much as you can, but privacy should be maintained instead of telling people the identity if it is illegal.

I can say that some people who are from Nigeria tend to share their image in forums regardless of the purpose. Of course there is no prohibition on that, but obviously this does not protect their privacy because bitcoin is not legal there to be adopted as a means of payment. So I think that mindset needs to change soon and they can still contribute to the forum safely.

Bitcoin not being recognized as an official payment method does not make bitcoin illegal. It's only illegal if a law has been passed that says so. There is a clear distinction. Banks and especially central banks might not like cryptocurrencies but if the government doesn't forbid it, there shouldn't be a problem if businesses accept it.

Taxes are a different issue though. The local tax authority isn't going to allow you to not pay your taxes. I wonder what would happen if inspection comes to your shop to look at your books and they notice that 'Bitcoin Accepted' sign? It would be even worse if they catch one of your clients leaving the shop without a receipt, proof of payment and paid taxes. That's something worth thinking about to avoid hefty fines. I have no idea how those things work in your area of living, but you should check it out.

It is a good aspiration and should be exemplified by other tailors, the payment method in Bitcoin is a method that many entrepreneurs / businesses aspire to, maybe you are one of the sewing entrepreneurs who have succeeded in making payments in Bitcoin.

I once read a sewing business entrepreneur who lives in London, he is Artefact London becomes world's first tailor to accept crypto payments, hope your, can also succeed like Artefact, maybe you want to also add some other cryptocurrencies like what Artefact London did.

Maybe you can also take a little experience from Artefact London, so that you become the most entrepreneur, the most successful sewing business in your country as a recipient of crypto in your business.

I think some of my compatriots seem to have adopted bitcoin as a means of payment, but for the convenience of their service, they never post anything on social media or anywhere else. He did this because bitcoins are not legal tender in my country and of course this is regulated by law.

It will be different if your country has legalized bitcoin as a means of payment where you can also make large banners in front of shops or places of business freely without the risk of violating the rules. Regarding image, I'm not against anyone posting them but I just agree you have to have good privacy just to keep you safe in relatively less secure places.

Bitcoin is illegal for transactions in your country? Or it is not recognized as a legal tender in your country by some reasons? If bitcoin is illegal as a payment on a transaction in your country, It would be better to pause your transactions with Bitcoin first. I'm not ruining a dream here but it would be better than to be in jail because you accepted bitcoin as a payment for something. But if it is not considered as a legal tender, I don't see wrong with accepting it. You can't be put on jail as long as it is not indicated that crypto transactions is not allowed or morelikely banned in your country. I don't know the laws in your country but I could suggest to try looking for it since you can level up your dream by promoting bitcoin in your store legally.

People have their on way of understanding cryptocurrency payment, it's good to set up a business and embrace payment method with cryptocurrency and more especially bitcoin, so i believe that such payment and business point should not be in rural areas of your geographical environment. Maybe it's always difficult when we're about to start something and sometimes it won't be very smooth when we start something. That's why we need a process. And to make the process effective and efficient to run, then there are some notes that you need to do
- Do a wider notification about the use of Bitcoin at your merchant.
- Also do research on your surroundings and whether they are already familiar with Bitcoin or not.
- Even if it's only a few people, however, keep making notifications that you accept Bitcoin as a means of payment so that later more and more people will know about Bitcoin and maybe learn about it.

It's not easy, but the process needs to be tried, especially when you have had this desire for a long time and now you are starting to realize it.

I think giving even a small discount might entice people to choose Bitcoin over fiat. I see some comments saying I only have three, it took me months to make sure I teach them what they need to know about crypto and Bitcoin before investing their money and also the benefits that comes with it when holding. I am not in rush to have many people as possible, it's not thats easy.

We can't blame those that still have their eyebrows raised for bitcoin and thinks that it's a scam or nonsense thing on the internet. They'll be left behind don't worry and for the actions that they do right now, it's not going to be worth it until they start making questions to themselves and they'll have the idea that they should have invested earlier.

Besides, they never know what is a scam for them. They only just make assumptions but actually, they don't have an idea about Bitcoin in the first place as they just rely on what they heard online or rumors from their friends. But I see that some people are able to change the outlook of Bitcoin from these people who say it was a scam and proved to them that they are wrong. We can leave them anyway, sooner they will find it wrong by themselves.

Even though paying with a smartphone allows you to do it a little slower, it requires preliminary preparation and familiarity with bitcoin technology.

Bitcoin is considered a medium of exchange in my country that is why a private company named Pouch intend one of our popular tourist destinations to be a Bitcoin Island, the Boracay Island.

Going back to the topic, I believe @OP is just starting up and I really applaud her for her courage to set up a store that accepts Bitcoin even though her country is somehow skeptical of where it wanted to stand on the Bitcoin issue.  It should be a tight situation when @OP needs to educate her client on the use of Bitcoin as payment so I think @OP need to prepare a step-by-step instruction on how to use Bitcoin as payment, print it out in a tarpaulin and post it on the wall of the store in a place where a client can easily read it but would not block customer who is looking around. You can give incentives to those who will try to pay in Bitcoin (can allocate some percentage of the profit in form of a discount).

We want BTC to be adopted globally, we also want merchants around the world to start accepting BTC as an alternative means of payment in their business, and yet we see some Bitcointalk users who are doing their own best to make BTC popular in their local communities and i read many people doubting the veracity of their story. I believe it is because so many members have posted about the same thing lately, and you may correctly say that for some of them there isn't any need to always post their latest success with BTC. But if they take out their time to post it here, then in my humble opinion we should just try and support them, if they are telling the truth, it is good for the network, if they are lying, then the BTC community isn't technically losing anything.

I read that many users in this thread are asking for proof of transaction, i'm afraid if you doubt that the entire story is false, then even a prrof of transaction can also be fake, the op can make a transaction with his friend or family, it does not mean that a customer actually paid for goods using BTC in his shop. With stories like this it is better to suspend disbelief, or just ignore .

Proof of transaction means nothing, I mostly trade bitcoin every week including P2P transactions and using Fiat to but Bitcoin, imagine I just drop some random Bitcoin transaction, it means nothing..

Truthfully only three of my customers are willing to pay me in Bitcoin for now and that's because I was even the one that teach them about Bitcoin since last year 2021 and now they are also investors too. I believe that as time goes on many will develop an interest as well.

That is good, as you started accepting bitcoin payments just now. It could be worse, as there are places where nobody has adopted bitcoin yet, besides the business owner who accepts it as payment.

Step by step these three customers will promote your shop and bitcoin at same time. We really can't blame @len01, I also find it very strange that there are so many of the same topics over and over again, and I also think their purpose is to seek merit. But in the end, they really deserve it because at least they put in the effort, trying to bring us quality articles.

If you think about it very well, it's better to change back to Naira or USDT since the market is still very volatile, I use the money to get some goods back in store for my business but I always save some percentage of my earnings every time I get paid.
 
Assuming I get 0.05BTC as payment I will change on 0.04BTC to Fiat to get some sewing parts back in store and keep the 0.01BTC for long term, its a win win strategy, accumulation is on going and my business is moving forward.

This is beautiful. One of your next course of action should be how to retain these three customers who are willing to pay you in Bitcoin. Second, how to incentivize the system so that these three customers will refer their network who are bitcoin supporters to patronize you. Third come up with a strategy to get and educate your customers especially the older ones to try making payments with bitcoin. Do not be forceful but the persuasive.

I agree with your strategy, indeed that way people will increase little by little to make payments using bitcoin, and of course there is no coercion from sellers and hopefully the business run by OP will run smoothly. and hopefully more and more are interested in shopping at the OP store.

Some country have started to embrace crypto while some are still recalcitrant in accepting it. I haven't backed read since it's a lot of pages but it's better if ever he's using a payment gateway or third party to just accept it directly like P2P transfers.
In that manner, he'll save fees since most of these gateways do charge a fee or a commission as not all service are for free. But with such direct payments and transfers to him, he'll get to save and add that to his investment or current holding in bitcoin.

I sell some stuff on facebook marketplace, I can go fiat or crypto. I see no big reason celebrating that "I can now accept Bitcoin now for an item I've sold". As a fashion designer, you probably sell items by p2p system. Doubt that you have registered as an individual entrepreneur, do all taxing stuff and etc. I think you have your business simplified.

Holding may not be the way to help bitcoin, but it helps investors like us. To be honest, I am not willing to spend my bitcoins either, I mainly just focus on accumulating as much as I can because I know that if I sell them now, the chance to buy them back at a low price is near like no more. Congrats on achieving your dream, I am trying to work towards such a dream in my locality too, I have a big wine store and I have already start accepting bitcoin payments, the result is not that good but at least people are seeing it, the road to adoption doesn't always happen over, some are curious what Bitcoin is while some don't even bother to ask, I will try to improve more, maybe create a sign board but that's after I am sure that Bitcoin is legal in my country.

One step at a time. I think OP has taken the right step to reach to this point. Growing the community and making money too. I know how hard it is to get customers who are willing to pay in BTC. I have my own business where I sell rice. I have also been accepting Crypto as a payment method. Not only that, but I have 4 loyal customers who pay me with Crypto. No BTC payment was made sadly, but it was in Busd BNB and other coins that they own. Haven't have any new customers who are willing to pay in crypto. Let's see what happens in the future. I was going to post about it a while back, but instead I am waiting for a new customer.
