I would say 2021 was a war between them as well with both sides winning but one side winning more. I always assumed layer 2 options were not that great, that's just my understanding of it, I believed layer 1 was a better solution because they had their own stronghold and that would be great, but that doesn't mean that there is a naturally better one in any of them.

If a project is good, it's good, if a project is bad it's bad, doesn't matter if they are layer 2 or layer 1, you could be a great one in either of them or you could be a terrible one in either of them as well. Which means there are projects out there which are great in both of them right now and tens of thousands of terrible ones unfortunately.

Bear market is for buying/earning more Bitcoin in that way when the bull market comes that Bitcoin you earned during bear market will be worthy enough to make you a decent profit after a long time of holding. Often newbies come here with the idea they will become traders and make a living wage out of the markets but this is not very realistic, becoming a full-time trader is incredibly hard as the only traders which can make money during adverse conditions are the ones that have a very high level of skill and which can short the market in a very precise way.

Well, the start of bull run may be next year since the BTC halving is always the huge catalyst for Bitcoin price. Having multiple streams of income should be nice it should be passive considering inflation these days doesn't seem to lowered. Hodling is good especially for newbies, but I think hodling alone is not enough to make the best out of crypto. When you have long experiences already in crypto, then I suggest you start to learn trading because that will give you bigger profits compared to long term hodling alone, but of course there is higher risk to it so you need to be more prepared and gain more knowledge and skills first because that will give you an edge towards other crypto traders.
