What are the motives that drive you to gamble?

The only motive that drives me to gamble is to add entertainment to a sports game that I'm watching.  I rarely ever gamble at slots or card games.  Maybe when I was younger, but I just don't get the same sense of enjoyment from it as I aged.  Now I like the added excitement of a close game knowing I have money on the line.  Will I be buying everyone shots at the bar or just walking to my car in shame from my lost bet?  It's just a little bit of added pressure to stay and watch the end of the game while having someone to cheer on.  I like guessing a lot of games right and getting big rewards too.  It's just nice to use your knowledge for something I guess while having fun.

I do not think I have an addiction to gambling because I can still manage to avoid and stop gambling whenever I wanted.  Right now profit is what drives me to gamble.  I have been used to the games of slots that I do not find them entertaining anymore.  I wanted to take gambling seriously but not as a way to spend idle time.  I just learned that gambling has more to offer than just giving us entertainment and is more dangerous than we think so I believe we must take gambling seriously, always be on the guard, and make sure to always have control of the situation.  It is fun yeah until we lost all our bankroll worst our control over ourselves.

What drives me to gamble isn't the I want to win big money, but rather i'm bored and gambling gives me a little boost on the day. Very few people are going to get filthy rich gambling due to the fact that they are scared to death to take a big risk. Scared money doesn't make money is a true statement.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted to gambling, but what drives me is the rush, the feeling when you are making a bet and seeing it winning, regardless of what you play in casinos. Of course there will be people who says that they gamble for fun, but it will be more fun if you are going to win at the end of the day.

The feeling of winning a jackpot or a big bonus or just making your first spin in a slot game and then hitting the bonus and waiting what will be your luck that night. So everyone goes for the big money win when we gamble.

Maybe it's a past time for some of us, because when we bored, like me, I will want to gamble, whether online or going to traditional based casinos. But I keep control of it, I just gamble what I can afford to lose. so I have self control and track all the spending and then stop when I reach it.

I'm not addicted per se, what drives me is to enjoy and then win some money in the end. Games like slot machine is fun and roulette too and then for card games its baccarat for me.

I just gamble for killing the time. I don't addict, because I have money management that I have to use for gambling and which I have to use for life. I never got big profits as people did, but sometimes I got a lucky and use that profit to buy iPhone and a new highest specs Laptop. So, I suggest for people who have spending time in gambling, just keep save a little profit from gambling to buy something, don't spend it all on gambling, so if you broke yous still have recollections.

Gamblers has different way of entertaining themselves in gambling others wanted to completely win(but harder to achieve) while others wanted to enjoy (things that we can get easily if we knew how to deal with gambling)

but like you , I love gambling and accepted defeat but I don't consider myself as addicted instead a regular gamblers that knows what I am doing.

Gambling is a way of spending time ? I mean this line can only be afford by the ones who have tons of money or who doesn’t care about money. 90% of the people gamble in order to earn money in short period of time. The thing that drives me to gamble is the need of money. And I am sure that for most of the people this thing plays the important role. But what really matters is that not to get addicted and gamble in limit. Only gamble with the amount that you can afford to lose.

There are certain games that attracts me more when playing , i am not really visiting casinos(maybe once a Year ) but I mostly played in local gambling places that available in some city in which we are visiting , there is this Color Game and Ball game that I love betting and if this is available? i am really spending high funds than usual.

I am not addicted to gambling but rather use gambling to spend time if I have spare money, I actually do like watching live Esports game like CSGO and for me, watching it is just a waste of time so it's better to place bet while watching as I think that is more productive than watching the game alone.

I'm looking for entertainment with a bit of excitement. It's a way to pass the time and occasionally walk away with a little extra money, although in return you will often walk away with no money, but if you go to other types of entertainment, like going to the cinema or going out for dinner, you always spend money on the experience without the possibility of walking away with more money than you came in with.

What drives me to gamble? mostly boredom mate and ofcourse stress from Job in which sometimes with my co workers we gamble either in casino houses or just going to each others house and bet against each others.
but addiction? No I don't have this as much as i can understand what addiction means.

To answer, enjoyment. It's just like how games, sports, and hobbies are to me, they're purely for enjoyment. You may argue that since money is involved then things are kind of different, but as someone who spends money on merchandise, figures, and Gundam builds, I don't think they're any different. I still spend money on all of them. Gambling may have that factor of enjoyment if you win big, but it's a minor thing after winning, I mostly value the thrill and experience I get.

Money and prizes are the real reason I gamble, because if I win big, I won't be poor anymore. Most of the poor people really want this; we are buying lottery tickets to try our luck. Or we do go to the casino to see if we could win, and if so, we could buy foods or items that we couldn't buy with our salaries. We don't care about the entertainment value. I understand that gambling is primarily for entertainment rather than profit, but when you see the price, you will be compelled to gamble.

I se no problem to extend our gambling playing as long as we have enough funds to lose and risk right? the only problem that occurs in gambling activity when we are continues trying to play when the funds aren't for risking meaning those are the funds we need for living and not to gamble.

If your sole purpose for gambling is to make profits, then soon it will become an addiction and cause you serious health problem especially when you lose money. But on the other hand, drive for gambling should be entertainment and fun, the way, you get to enjoy yourself even when you are losing.

Personally, I am not a gamble addict, and I only seldom gamble by the way, but I am sure if I want to gamble, my drive will definitely be entertainment, and nothing more.

There's no one in this world that doesn't happy if they can make money in short time and instant, so everyone will happy if they get money. If the all gamblers only happy when they double their money, I can say 95% gamblers will be mad and sad. But upon reading all of users replying in this thread, they're happy to gamble even though they're not making money through gamble.

Using fake money to gamble isn't gambling since you're not take any risk.

I gamble during my free time at work. It's my way to entertain myself when i'm bored because I find it exciting and enjoyable especially if I win. But that doesn't mean i'm after winning  (though it's really a good thing to win) since it can make us addicted and it's a problem if you can't control yourself. That's why i'm only using an extra money so even I lose it's not hard to accept it.
