The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says visibly underage persons who attempt to vote during the 2023 elections will be arrested. Festus Okoye, INEC national commissioner for information and voter education, said this on Monday during an interview on ‘The Morning Show’, a programme by Arise Television. Okoye said in an effort to address issues around underage registration, INEC has summoned all its officers in areas where underage registrations were recorded.

As we dey gear up for the 2023 elections wey go kickstart with the presidential election on 25th february 2023, na him INEC national chairman for information and voter education Fetus Okoye, don come out come talk say any underage person wey come out come vote, dem go arrest such persons. Also, INEC say dem get 93.5 registered voters and dem go publish the list on 16 January before the election go start... Wetin una think concerning making the registered voters list public?

The parents will also be arrested for aiding and abetting such a venture.

Oga Brainboss you don raise valid suggestions wey really make sense. The idea make voters get some kind of forms from banks or BVN print out to be eligible to register for the INEC election, in my own opinion e good but e go reduce the numbers of voters because no be everybody wey get bank accounts for this country. The thing be say those when dey contest they try to use the condition of the citizens to take do mago-mago for elections since dem know say most northeners dey suffer from poverty dem go Kon dey use money take dey make dem do wetin dem know say nor good.
