It's unfair for people to keep heaping blame on Ronaldo for the outcome of their first game. The Al Nassr star is a player, and there are ten others. It is impossible for such to happen, irrespective of the fact that Saudi Arabia and their Aramco who is a sponsor of FIFA is quite an influential partner that plays a very influential role in financing FIFA,

Yes, I also think that something like this happening in the World Cup is clearly unacceptable, and I'm also confident that FIFA won't allow it to happen. This is a competition watched by everyone around the world. Any foul play will undoubtedly ruin FIFA's reputation. Furthermore, I'm confident that the Verdean players won't be easily lured by money or anything else. They're fighting to make their country proud. Therefore, I believe the Verdean players' potential to be tempted by money will be significantly lower.

I understand your point and cases like this have happened, but for some reason I'm a bit sceptical about the World Cup, I mean almost all the players fight for their country especially if it is an unpopular country. To answer that, we can monitor this match over the next few days and somehow I prefer Cape Verde.

One more thing we have to understand, the consequences if that really happens are that Saudi Arabia could be removed as the host of the next World Cup and also has an impact on the Local League I mean Saudi Pro League could be sanctioned and European players would be reluctant to play again. Just a note that Saudi Arabia will host the world cup in 2034 so I don't think they will take the risk, IMO.

Not trying to totally write off any possibility of behind-the-public deals but this is 2026, we need to stop imagining that some things still happen.

Cape Verde has been arguably the dark horse of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. For an island nation that's never participated in the competition and a population of less than 600k, they've been able to put themselves on the global map by stopping football nations like Spain and Uruguay from winning them in their opening two games of the tournament. He has just scored two goals in the current World Cup, but Lionel Messi is at the top of the list of top scorers with 5 goals in just two matches. So Ronaldo is already far behind. The deeper the title race gets, the harder it will be to score, so we can expect a good performance from Ronaldo, it is very difficult to be seen as the top scorer. There are star players like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi in this race.

Yes,, I also feel that this is nothing more than gossip or a rumor. After all,, it is highly unlikely that Saudi Arabia would resort to such measures just to win a single match—especially since they would almost certainly lose later on anyway. That is why I find the idea of  them being bribed completely implausible. Moreover, they are representing their country, a responsibility they surely take very seriously.
