But I want to look at age and performance a little differently. I think player's birth certificate does not determine whether he will get chance in starting eleven or not. It is his current form that determine it.

Ronaldo is now 41 year old. But if he can still score goal regularly. Maintain his fitness and contribute tactically. Then he has every right to fight for his place. It will be unfair to blame Portuguese players for Ronald's poor performance. The striker has passed his prime and couldn't contribute much to the World Cup. I don't think there was any conspiracy among players to frustrate him.

If you look at CR7, he has the stamina of a young player; his physical condition is what it is. But if you don't have the right midfielders, he'll make the defenders and attackers look foolish.
