Heatbit Is the First Space Heater That Mines Bitcoin, Founder Says
The newfangled device looks like a high-end space heater but uses integrated circuitry to process bitcoin transactions.
That heat, according to the official Heatbit site, is enough to warm 500 square feet of space. The kicker is, if you run the heater 24 hours a day at a bitcoin price of $20,000, the device will put $30 back into your pocket every month to help cover your electricity bill. Given the jump in energy costs last year, that capability may offer consumers some incentive.
https://www.coindesk.com/business/2023/01/03/heatbit-space-heater-will-also-mine-bitcoin/

Since some will ask: still not sure if we broke even, net of electricity costs, on the box. But ended up w/ about $2K+ worth of crypto for a $700 box.

If you want to play with a cool new toy for a while or just aesthetics, yeah, go for it!
If you look from the $ perspective, it makes no sense.

Option 1
-You spend $1200 on the bitcoin heater, at 14th it will generate 85 cents a day and 25$ a month if you're going to run it full 24/7, assuming 6 months of continuous heating needs (which is not really needed except if you live up north, like really north and in the mountains)  you're going to earn 150$ in Bitcoins each year
Option 2
- You spend 150$ on this heater 1400W heater, note that  I haven't picked the cheapest one, that will generate the same heat, and you use the remaining 1050$ to buy coins, now!

Since obviously, you can't increase your profits from mining without BTC going really up and thus increasing also the $1050 equivalent in BTC you've got this angle covered. The other way would be for the difficulty going down, but I don't see that coming, and not by a percentage to offset the above by much!

Heatbit (Heat+Bitcoin ) A combined device used to heat rooms from cold in colder countries. But the surprising thing is that the room heater is not only used for heating the room but it is used for various multipurpose purposes.
Heatbit normally power consumption 1400-1500Watt . The power consumption of a mining rigs is the same, the advantage is that you need exactly the same amount of electricity as a mining machine in a heatbit heater.  Apart from heating the room, you can also do bitcoin mining from the heater.
A heatbit Heater Mining 1$ bitcoin per day and $30 bitcoin per month. So You are getting your electric bill from this heater.

No, it's not! and please don't fake stuff, It's not a speaker it's not a coffee maker!
And if you think of putting that coffee maker on top of it, no it won't work since it's limited at 60C, you'll brew coffee with that by next xmas!

A heatbit Heater Mining 1$ bitcoin per day and $30 bitcoin per month. So You are getting your electric bill from this heater.

The only way to get your electrical bill covered by this would mean to pay around 3 cents per kWh, and again, you would pay your electricity bill 3 years in advance with this thing without knowing what will be in place next year!

Not only that, but you can also use this heater to save electricity, use a loud speaker to listen to music, and make your daily tea and coffee.

When you do this kind of wild claim twice can you please quote where on the official website does the manufacturer himself claim such things?

Sorry for mistakes.
Heatbit only used for heating the room and mining bitcoin.
While writing, I accidentally add extra features that are unnecessary.
Yes I read in a comment if there will be any possibility to add all these smart devices to Heatbit Heater later?

Which comment are you referring to? I don't see any mention of that in this thread except for your edited post. I don't even see that on the official website. Even if it is true, why would that be an upside if you can just use a regular coffee/speaker that cost less and probably more reliable? At the end of the day if you want to buy something like this your goal is probably to mine BTC, not for owning an all-in-one electronic device.

What the manufacturer stated regarding the future of these devices is about upgradability[1]. They claim the plan is to make new and old devices upgradable with new ASIC, but the details are unknown. Other than that, there's no mention of expanding the functionality of the device unless I missed it.

You know too well there was never such a comment, the whole situation is pretty simple, you still believed you were in some art contest like the pumpkin one, overreacted to the news, and added some features. Why not say it? You believed this would be cool so you decided to add them on your own, just as there was no comment, you didn't commit any crime by photoshopping that and you don't need to find some alibi for it!  Wink

Even if it is true, why would that be an upside if you can just use a regular coffee/speaker that cost less and probably more reliable? At the end of the day if you want to buy something like this your goal is probably to mine BTC, not for owning an all-in-one electronic device.

I would say that the goal here is to offset power costs, more like getting cheaper heat than actually using this to mine bitcoins for your won stash, although in my opinion it quite fails even at this. As for the other stuff, of course there is no upside, we don't have right now a heater that makes coffee and has speakers that sells in thousands, right? So if this kind of thing is not produced it means there is no market for it, and adding a bitcoin miner on top of a product that doesn't sell won't make it more attractive either. That's why they aren't planning on doing it either.

Um, wasn't there already one of these years ago that never got off the ground?

As for heating rooms, well yeah it's been done for years with old 750-1kW miners in slow/low fan mode.
I myself started doing it many years ago and posted about how to do it Tongue

Not just one quit a few:
- Carnot, abandoned, the page doesn't exist anymore, I know it was extremely expensive
- Hotmine, didn't get anywhere with their project, was present on this forum
- Tresorio, the website is in French, so in short, it's a 14 400 euros , 60 - 140 TH/s hashing power, 120 L water heater. Since you can get the same heater from Bosch or Ariston for 400 euros here in EU and buy nearly one BTC now with the spare, I guess there won't be that many takers either

I love this project because it is a heater foremost but also simple and easily introduces people to bitcoin with only using 1kW of power... no need for 3 phase or crazy loud setups.

Yes it's a hefty price right now and not for industrial earnings, but at scale this should be much cheaper and put that heat to actual use.

I got into Bitcoin because it was simple and accessible, these days it's freakin' difficult to setup a node + lightning + safely store a wallet + trusted exchange/banking support.  I mean it's tough right now but will get better as more tools like this one bring bitcoin back to the general population without having to understand wtf grpc and macaroons are.

It is nonsense.

The ant miner L3+. can indirectly mine BTC at nicehash.

cost is about $250 on ebay.

it earns 1.50  a day

it burns 750 watts.

that is 18 kwatts a day.

it can be made quiet.

I do that and IIRC so do you and a bunch of others. But they are ugly, have wires everywhere and so on.

Thinking you are going to make a profit mining with a device like this is beyond ridiculous.
Thinking that you are going to pay a bit less to run a space heater is an acceptable answer.

If you are a gadget geek, spending a bunch of money on something like this is not out of the realm of what you do.

With all due respect to voltagegoat.com, who has products I love. Does anyone really need a $500 nixie tube bitcoin price ticker? A $20 used amazon echo 5 will do more, use less power and so on.
It's just not as cool. Same with this, it's a stupid expensive, probably difficult to configure space heater. But it mines crypto, so there is a market for it.

But could they have tried for a better chip?

the  95th S19 chips for instance. Just one board would do 31-32th

pull 1100 watts.

set it to 800 watts use brains it would get 25-27 th

or use one s19 pro 110th board set it to 800 watts it would do 32th on low rate firmware.

I would think someone would simply use an s19 pro controller program it for lower hashrate and put it in a nice case.

I know someone in Germany is selling S9 space heaters too. I don't think its wise to run S9s at 1500W, you should use them at like 900W where they are much more efficient. Its better to have two of them than a single one overworked.

The thing with L3+ is that 4 hashboards need even more wires and those fault prone mini-fit 6p molex plugs, so it isn't as easy. S9s appear to be sold for like $50 and some people even give them away for free, so compare that with purchasing a 900W space heater, which doesn't even mine.

The rest is just putting it inside something that doesn't look ugly. I know someone removed the fans and used a single inline duct fan instead, making it much more silent. Hmm i think its this one. Now imagine that inside some cylinder or box.

A modern ASIC space heater makes sense, but you would need to remove/disable hashboards. It also won't be useful with 120V, i don't think those PSUs like the low voltage. I think a single hashboard S19 would take about 1100W. I bet the trick would be buying one cheap with damaged hashboards, that has at least one working, and you definitely won't need 4 fans for that...

The L3+ runs rings around the s9 as a space heater.

I have modded and built both many times. Used your braiins to do the s9's

The l3+ can be set to 600 watts. you can use a 1000 watt tax psu like the corsair 1000 rmx.

https://www.newegg.com/corsair-rmx-series-rm1000x-cp-9020201-na-rf-1000-w/p/N82E16817139298?

1 wire for each  power jack will work and 1 wire for the  controller.

you can case the wires in this wrap.

https://www.amazon.com/Alex-Tech-10ft-Protector-Sleeving/dp/B07FW388KV?

set the L3+ to nice hash if you want btc.

set the L3+ to viabtc if you want LTC/Doge

if you use this fan

https://www.ebay.com/itm/185296944683?

set to 20-40% the unit is cool and quiet and earns more per watt than the s9.

is it as pretty as the op's fancy gear no?

but I have a lot of spots to put them for the winter.

It all depends on where you are going to use it, because:

a) They are extremely loud, so I reckon you won't have it where you're spending most of the time, especially with a couple of them in the same room
b) It needs to be well isolated in order to keep the heat and make sense (just saw Linus' videos where he was using a 1500 W rig in his garage, and it was barely able to bump it a degree or two)

Room heater sound level (30-45) Deci-Bel.
Generally, the sound level of room heaters does not cause human discomfort. Since a normal sound label is 45 dB.
It is normal for a room heater to be inside the room, if the noise level is more than 45 to 50 dB then the room heater cannot be placed inside the room. One thing to note is that room heaters that get a little older usually have a higher noise level. Normals are in the range of 30 decibels to 40 dB.

Room heater sound level (30-45) Deci-Bel.

Is that their (Heatbits) specification or? If so, yes, then that would be OK for room use noise-wise.

Heatbit website claim their heater has <42db noise.

Missed that one, that's awesome if it's the case!
