Merit system was implemented since 2018 and the benefit is mostly about signature style from each tier ranks. However if you want to attach image, you only need to become Jr. member rank or bought copper membership, or if you want to wear avatar you must reach full member rank.

A newbie user who have very good knowledge about Bitcoin and post very good quality post will earn merit very easy, also some people don't care with their ranks.

Not everyone here members used to rank up when they reach a certain number of activities and posts but not now, they need to accumulate merits for them to rank up

Not easy you have to earn those merits because it needs hard work and research on many of your posts, the reward and rank are for you to have a chance to participate in a signature campaign where members are paid for displaying banners on their signature.

Merits, or rewards as you call them, were introduced during late January 2018 (with a slight subsequent change in September 2018 affecting Jr. Members), with the declared goal of curbing the amount of spam on the forum. Until then, accounts ranked-up by merely posting and gaining Activity, which was easy-peasy and required no real effort, nor was it affected by the content one wrote. Merits changed that, and reduced spam a fair share I’d say, at least on the main boards, and although a certain degree of spam is inevitable, those knee deep in the habit won’t get very far up the ranking scale.
 
Merits are essentially necessary to rank-up (which itself has some benefits on multiple fronts), though it also plays additional roles that we could associate to aspects such as gaining a certain reputation, or receiving a pat on the back every now and then. Lately, some Campaign Managers require their participants to earn a certain amount of Merits in a given period of time, so there is that too, though any reasonable and constant poster likely won’t have much trouble with this.

All forums that are based on SMF have rank levels and based on how the admin qualifies each member to rank it could be based on their activity or based on their posts or both, but here in this forum Theymos has set three conditions for members to rank, activity, number of posts and the most important merits.
Our knowledge should not be based on our rank here, I have seen newbies with good knowledge of many subjects and some high-rank members that are noobs on some important subjects.
The rewards are for you to rank and it's only important if you are going to participate in signature and bounty campaigns because they are rank based.

But if you did it correctly and responsibly youll achieve ranking up which isnt hard for people who do their deeds with heart. Me too, Im not so keen about such topics and just bringing up some useful and helpful to others and eventually Id rank up I really thought I was gonna stuck being a member rank but able to surpass and reach the highest ran so everyone can do it too.

First, I wish to welcome you to the bitcointalk forum, because as I can see, you are just only 3days old here and already admiring higher ranks of the likes of "Legendary & Hero". And secondly, I wish to tell you that having a higher rank just like mine "Sr. Member" is very possible if you want to, but only that it comes with a lot of hard work and sacrifices of which one needs to do to make it a reality.
So in regards to the answer to your question, the reward system was implemented to differentiate between quality posters and spammers, who only come to the forum not providing any value

Looks can be deceiving don't trust the rank that's on the profile look at what members are posting there are lower rank members that are as good as higher rank, rank is just you achieved something as per requirement by the forum

It used to be easy but with new merit requirements to rank up you have to contribute for a healthy flow of discussion it shows proof that you are good in many subjects around here and because you are good that's where merit will come and you will rank up.

Isn't that hard if you're knowledgable enough, engaging in technical topics, and of course with knowledge of it is very easy for you to have merit.

Exactly. Despite everything, need to move forward, even if in small steps, but one day it will lead to high ranks. Perseverance and activity will become fellow travelers in this difficult matter. Merit is a reward that has no value elsewhere other than here, members feel good to see that their post got merited by other members, the feeling is like getting applauded for offering value to members. The benefit is the drive to make more quality posts. For every member that wants to rank up there is a desire to gain more merits and they must thrive to offer posts worthy of merits. How would you feel after offering quality posts in the forum without any merit, it can withdraw your efforts. So, the members with smerits always do their best to give out merits to posts worthy of it. A way to keep the forum moving and promoting quality posts, meaning that for every good post you make, OP, they may be merits for it now or later.

I wouldn’t exactly call the merit system a reward system. I’d like to think of a merit of a sign or an acknowledgment of some sort that someone finds what you wrote as useful, knowledgeable or important. And as long as someone continues to write more useful, knowledgeable or important posts, the person is bound to get acknowledgments from other members or in this case, merits.

OP, With more time spent going through and reading various threads on the forum, you’re bound to get knowledgeable on the basic questions you might have. You could also ask questions for anything you aren’t so sure of.

There is one thing that needs further clarification, in my opinion.
Before the implementation of the merit system on this forum, members progressed on the forum solely on the basis of their activity, i.e. writing posts.
Of course, this does not mean that each of the senior members with legendary rank is necessarily a crypto expert, but only that he has been on this forum long enough to have earned a higher forum rank based on his forum activity.
I have personally seen new members on this forum who were greater crypto experts than the older, legendary members. I am especially thinking of some crypto company owners (that I know) who have no interest and time to be active on this forum, but have great knowledge and experience.

Merit will serve as a measure to how you have been contributing to the forum's growth which will turn a reward to you whenever you were given any because you will need it for ranking up except if you don't mind, it's what you do on the forum that determines how you earn it or not, merits are given by individuals or merits source at their own will and not yours, you dont ask or beg for it, but what you do determines either you earn it or not.

Well, we can say that the benefit of the reward is "ranking" up, simply put. Before the introduction of the merit rule (reward, in your word) in 2018, ranking up was almost an effortless engagement. It was basically just write whatever you felt like writing and then wait for activity count to go up to expected rank. That was it. Once ranked up, one is able to get better renumeration both in signature and bounty campaigns based on one's rank. Members in the same signature campaign do similar task of meeting up certain post count but most payments aren't ever the same because of difference in ranks. May be that's about the major benefit with difference in ranks. Nonetheless, there are campaigns that have the same pay rate for all like what Chipmixer does.
