The 2023 Australian Open is 1 week away.

Since Wimbledon, Novak has entered four ATP tournaments and won three. The won he lost he made the final and arguably should have beaten Rune.

I have been watching him closely and he seems to be playing more aggressively and his forehand looks better.

This is his favourite Grand Slam by far and playing Novak at Rod Laver arena is almost as hard as playing Rafa at Rolland Garros.

I truly believe this will be one of the most dominant title runs by Novak especially after he was deported by the Australian government last year. He wants revenge.

Fun fact, I placed a six figure (fiat) bet on Novak in 2021 when he won the title and plan on betting the same amount with BTC after he completes the Adelaide tournament in a few days.

What do you guys think?

What are the odds? Do not you think he is too "sure bet" and odds will be not attractive enough to bet on him?
Looking at that page: https://www.oddschecker.com/tennis/australian-open/mens/australian-open-mens/winner we may say it is much easier to lose on him than win ;-)

Honestly speaking I do not like situations like that. On the other hand we have very similar situation with women, but on as bad as with men.

His odds are $2.10 which I think is reasonable given the form he is in.

The only danger is Alcaraz but he has been inactive.

I think Djokovic is the favourite. But it's not that the other players don't have a chance. That was quite different, in a year in which Djokovic won almost everything there was to win. And there is also a new young generation ready to take over from the experienced players. Out of the top 15 there are certainly a few players who can beat Djokovic. Alcaraz is the number 1 in the world and has gained a lot of experience in recent years. On gravel he would be the favorite together with Nadal, but on this surface it is a different story. But Alcaraz was good at the US open in the summer, in itself that surface is not very different from the surface at the Australian open. the top is close to each other. That was very different in the 90s and 2000s.

Novak has always struggled at the US Open. He is a different beast in Australia. I remember 2 years ago when he won he ws serving ridiculous and hit the most aces during the tournament. Zverev normally gives him trouble but I don't think he is 100% after breaking his leg.

Well that deportation was somewhat warranted after the breach on border entry rules imposed by Australia during that time. It was surely oversight on his part, but it would have been a different outcome if proper communication was done before he decides to take a flight towards the land down under. I don't think he holds any grudges against the Australian government, but I surely think he just wants to play these tournaments and showcase his talent to the world.

I'd take the risk and get that 2.10 odds right now because surely the odds will shift as the tournament progresses and this bet will lose its juice. Alcaraz is a beast on his own accord but yeah, he has been quite inactive after his injury in Paris. For sure he has recovered by now but that inactivity will surely take a hit on your reflexes and the way you perform.

Novak Djokovic is the main favorite no doubt and he knows how to play here ,usually he dosent have any problems on this tournament and we should expect him to win it,but still a lot of things can go the other way. The odd for me to risk such a huge bet is to low if the odd was over 3 i would have taken it.

I agree. I'm the biggest Novak fan but was disappointed with his conduct last year. He looked amazing against Shapavalov yesterday. Was moving well and his forehand looked powerful.

I can vouch to Novak Djokovic's outstanding start to the season, having won three of the first four ATP events. 1 of his most successful Grand Slams is the Australian Open, where he holds a record nine victories. He might do well at the tournament, but it's also important to remember that there will be a lot of other excellent players competing and that professional tennis is typically a very competitive sport. It's difficult to predict the outcome of a sporting event with precision, and it's important to keep in mind that anything can happen on the field.

Who can you genuinely see beating him though? Medvedev has been in average form, Rafa isn't healthy, Sasha may not play and Carlos hasn't been active. I can't see anyone else pushing him let alone beating him at his favourite Grand Slam.

Too early to say and I’m actually looking for other player to take the championship though there is no doubt about Novak because he is indeed a great one but I think someone should do better and take this opportunity to have a good tournament, waiting for the odds for most of the matches I’ll try to watch all of them and place some bet if the odds is great, Novak should be challenged by other player to make this more exciting.

I’d love to see him win it, after how badly he was treated due to his vaccine status when he was in Australia previously. It would be poetic justice for him to go ahead & win it.

I think I might even put a bet on for him to do it. He’s the type of guy who doesn’t stand any shit. I can see him being super motivated & just going out there & destroying everybody.

He will definitely want to make a statement. This could be his most dominant performance.

I think the 2023 Australian is a lot easy to get compared to others because of you check the situation of the player for this season Novak Djokovic got much more chance compared to others and you understand this from his performance in the past. but the correct competitors for him are Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal and maybe even Casper Ruud, amount all these competitors Alcaraz is more dangerous for Novak but still I think even Alcaraz cannot perform better than Novak, so maybe that's easy to bet on Novak Djokovic

What makes you so sure he will win?

He is in almost career best form and he is playing at his favourite tournament with a huge Serbian population.

Mark my words he will win this easily.
