This flood matter don really cause great damage for some certain regions for this our country and this thing keep on coming and the government dem Neva really do something about am. The first major flood i witnessed was the 2012 flood which caught everyone by surprise and cause great damage all over the places wen him reach. And the things wey deh trouble me about this disaster be say, the flood wey we dey experience for this our country na actually artificial one wey dem fit control but still yet our government never look into how dem go take combat am.
  Just recently last year, the flood wey come destroyed so things and cause so many financial instability in the country because of the lots of crops and food that were lost in it and even peoples lives and property. after the flood don go sef e still deh cause many after effect for the country wey deh affect us wey be the citizens e.g
~bad or damage roads
~scarcity of things
~development of new sickness
~Displaced and homeless persons and so much more.

And what is the government doing in other to tame this flood matter wey deh this our country.

Nothing government really dey do about all this matter except from creating an avenue for another massive loot.
The moment we complain too much, na so government go carry project give another wolf in sheep's clothing and na why I dey fear this our leaders because na them be the major examples of the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know.
I never really see wetin our government dey do concerning this flood matter but I also think say we also need to help ourselves by first cleaning our available drainages and keeping a save Environment at all times.

Most people lost their homes to the flood, and they have not been able to rebuild them due to a lack of funds, and yet the government does not lend a helping hand to them. 

The Nigerian Federal Government still thinks that this flood stuff is funny, so they will not combat it now until things really get out of hand. Instead, they will see it as a means of squandering money during the process of sharing those food items after every flood. Before Nigerians know it, the sharing of those food items after the flood will turn into a business deal where the team involved in the disbursement will steal from the funds and governors will steal from the states.

I think until every part of Nigeria, both states, capitals, villages, and towns, gets affected by this flood, they may not really look for a permanent solution. This is the right time for them to fetch a solution.

One of our major issue for this we country na say, we no even sabi maintain something. Imagine say government go run drainage pass for your corridor but you kwa, you no go fit still clean am. Instead, we go turn am to where we go dey throw-way dirty, dey wait make tain carty am commot. Them go tell person say, here na water logged area, person go wan sand fill am, make e for build House. Even when them warn of impending danger, we go cut corners to make our will happen.

Governor for my state, e go sand fill one full delta way dey help for water sedimentation, filtration and purification to use build Park. Na watin wan von do the function  abi na where the water wan go again. Na some of the matter be that.

We dey very much to blame as much as the government.

This flood matter no be small, because since I was born I never see flood wey pass last year own because many people lost properties and life of people's, especially children and the most painful thing is that government didn't do anything about it they just send people and come and write down some names of the people and houses that are collapse and from that day shi shi no come from them and they didn't come back up to today.

It's the same in our country too. While those affected areas are suffering and still waiting for rescue, the senate are still arguing what to do instead of taking action to resolve the problem. There was also a time that the intended donations and relief goods along with the money were pocketed by the officials and the goods that arrived on the affected area are either expired or rotten. This was when Yolanda hit our country and thousands of people died.

This flood matter is a very big issue that has and is still causing many problems; from loss of lives to food insecurity. As a matter of fact, my community, at the bank of the Orashi River, was 98% submerged under water and this turned the once agricultural community to a place of hunger and starvation.

Combating the flood will need the intervention of government and various stakeholders as the process is capital intensive and requires strong political will. Some of the measures that presents a feasibly sollution include but not limited to :
1. Dredging of River Niger, River Orashi and other tributaries.
2. Building a tunnel that will connect River Orashi to the Soibriro River to take some of the volumes at peak period.
3. Building artificial water storages in Adamawa, and other northern states where such water can be used for irrigation purposes.
4. Ensuring proper drainage system and strong orientation on amoral dumping of refuse.

If these measures are put in place, am confident the flood will be checked and we can even realise some gains from it in terms of agriculture.

Last year was actually the first year I have witnessed such a great flood disaster to the southern part of the country. This lead to many unrest and lost to lives and properties, no one ever pray for their country or region to witness such again. Just recently, I heard from a friend saying that this year we’re going to experience more flood than the previous year, I don’t know how true it is, but whatever the case may be, I hope the government find a way to combat it before it escalates like the previous year.

Government work na to announce but them no go provide means wey them go use help the citizens wey this flood go affect or create an alternative place for flood victims to pack go because them no care about the suffering wey this disaster go put on the victims.
