Yeah... noticed it. The latest update is that the casino refused to pay her anything and the court also sided with them. But then what about the mental agony that was inflicted on Miss Katrina Bookman? I can understand if the machine malfunctioned. But what was the need to keep her waiting for more than 24 hours and then deny the payment? If the malfunction was there, then it should have been informed immediately. And I really don't know whether the malfunction resulted from any tweaking from the casino employees (can't trust these people).

I have one more question. Why the court is always assuming that the malfunction only happens in one direction? If some of the players were wrongly awarded the winnings as a result of malfunction, then I am 100% sure that many more were denied winnings as a result of it. IMO, the casino has two options:

1. Accept the claim from Miss Katrina Bookman
2. Deny the claim and refund all the players who have used that particular slot machine from the time it was installed.

The authority of the state this incident occur has to investigate the claims and if it comes out negative that the mechine didn't malfunction then not only do the casino pay the winners all full amount she won, the authority also have to withdraw the license of that casino so they don't operate anymore. With this punishment other casino owners will learn and not be as wicked as the casinos owner was trying to be.

If they didn't have such reward at hand, they could have easily informed the winners and work out some compensation scheme that the winner would had accepted instead of lying. If I won this and was refused my rewards, I would had taken the casino owner to court immediately

From what I understand, the maximum amount that can be won from that slot machine is $6,500. And the issue is that the casino even refused to acknowledge this and offered to refund $2 as it was the amount being waged. Bookman's attorney (Alan Ripka) was ready to reach a compromise deal in case the casino accepted it's responsibility and offered the maximum liable amount (i.e 6.5k). Dan Bank (representative for the Resorts World Casino) was very adamant that they are not ready for this compromise deal and they won't provide anything more than $2 to Miss Bookman.

Where did you get the information that she lost case in court? The link I shared indicates it is still pending and I couldn't find other articles with a clear verdict.

Note that it's the New York State Gambling Commission that took the side of the casino after checking the slot machine.

The 24 hours is probably to let the NYSGC check the slot machine first before informing Ms. Bookman. Whether it was tampered by an employee or the investigation was rigged is for the court to find out and decide.

If a casino is licensed and has a good reputation, then whatever and whatever wins visitors get will really be given.
Only stupid people believe the reasons that have been told by the casino management.

That's the logical thing to do but the court and the casino commission in that country don't allow that because it's a glitch because the slot only allows, $6500 maximum winning as a player I will demand that what is shown on the screen should be awarded to me, the physical casino operators should explain the rules of the slots because compared to online casinos where the rules and terms are readable in one of the pages of the online casinos, compared to physical casinos they rely on their attendants and sometimes attendants failed to do their job, because of so many players playing at the same time.

I’m not sure how I’d feel about this if it were me. I think there’s probably more to the story than what we’ve been given here. Keeping an open mind, it could have been a tiny win but maybe the numbers in the machine stuck so it displayed the wrong amount or something else trivial like that and not a real win. If it were a real win and they just didn’t pay out as the story would have you believe, it definitely would warrant further investigation.

I think it's obvious that she didn't win $43 million, and so the title of the article is clickbait. The maximum allowed to win on the slot machine she played is $6,500, so, it was a malfunction, and no one actually scammed the women.

However, the fact that she was offered only a steak dinner after having all that emotional distress shows how shitty that Resorts World Casino in Jamaica is. I would not recommend to step inside such places even once.

I think that slots should be checked from time to time and the fact that the slot was not working correctly when this woman won the jackpot is the casino's fault, so the owners should obviously pay this woman substantial compensation.

The proof is only a screen shot of winnings and not valid on the court since casino acknowledge the display amount and later on tagged as malfunction of the slot games. It turns out that the whole story has been going on for 6 years. It's very sad - it's a waste of money (I heard that the services of lawyers are very expensive in the USA) and nerves. And if at the end she does not receive her prize, or most of it, then this whole story will be perceived as a big failure. On the other hand, if she had immediately abandoned it, then she would have been haunted by a sense of missed opportunities all her life.
