If you talk about quality altcoins, then litecoin and ethereum comes into the picture for the older users like me. These coins have a good community backing them and they will likely not fade away. Same with Dogecoin but doge lack the use case that ethereum has, even though some celebs might promote it, you should be careful before investing in it.

Specifically Ethereum can be a good second line asset after bitcoin if you are willing to invest in it for the long term. But this is all a personal choice and we have ethereum haters on this forum too, so dont let anybody's opinion cloud you. I personally have invested in ethereum for the long term a while back and holding it, but I dont have plans to buy more.

We don't know the future, so no one can answer the first question. But a lot of people, just as I do, believe in it. It's not just a coin and a blockchain with tokens, Ethereum is a technology. A lot of web-sites now work using what Vitalik made. And it can be upgraded, right now we are using ETH 2.0.

I think if you define "safe" as a legitimate investment, then we can ultimately say that it is safe. On the other hand, if you meant "no risk of losing money", that's not what Ethereum, other altcoins, or even bitcoin investment looks like. The market depends on the demand of supply (as always), but here, the volatility is high compared to other investments. Furthermore, I think it'll be preferable if you know yourself if ETH is worth investing for. Research more about it, after that you can make your decision.

Ethereum is a good altcoin but no one can guarantee it is fully safe. Nobody knows if eth has a good future. It did fine so far but we can't know the future for sure. Litecoin used to be #2 coin too. Look where it is now. The very same thing very well may happen to eth in the future. It is less likely but not impossible. Another example is ripple. It used to be the #2 coin on coinmarketcap. People thought it is the next big thing. Then it was revealed that it wasn't more than a centralized scam.

ETH is popular now but who knows? Maybe some other coin will become more popular than eth.

Ethereum is one of the top coins not because it has a huge number of fans or even a big community. It's on top because of its potential. Most altcoins have issues that they're facing but despite every negative comments about Ethereum, it still remained as one of the most trusted coins next to Bitcoin.
If you are a risk taker, Ethereum is still worth investing in. If you'll look at its history, you would know how it developed and reached a good spot in the market.

I do believe that it's one of the best out there right now. I know not many people believe this but it is definitely the best altcoin for me. It is obvious that many people think the same way as well because it is the second biggest coin ever, only after bitcoin itself and if people didn't think that it's the best coin then it wouldn't be able to go there at all.

This is why it should have been so important to have some on your portfolio and I can definitely say that I trust it to be safe. This is of course my understanding and if we are talking about being safe or not, you can't possibly know and maybe I could be wrong about it and it's not, but I do trust it.

I think this is still quite safe, Ethereum is one of the alt that is quite good in my opinion compared to other altcoins, Ethereum is clearly better in terms of investment but if it relates to the election there is bitcoin there I suggest to be in bitcoin but if you really want to be in altcoins then indeed Ethereum is definitely not something wrong and you should be there if you want altcoins.

1. It's actually the best altcoin to invest in. Bitcoin is the king of all cryptocurrencies. Ethereum is the king of all altcoin currencies.

2. Why would it be wrong? It is the most safest bet you can make. Other altcoins are more riskier than Ethereum.

3. There are some drawbacks that are supposed to be fixed when ETH 2.0 is completely launched.  Should fix scalability issues and other stuffs.

4. Because it was (one of) the first to implement smart contracts and has more projects and active developers compared to other altcoins with same features.

ethereum is considered really safe for investment, usually investment companies that invests in cryptocurrencies always consider ethereum for their investments with considering all the risk management meaning ethereum is relatively safe enough. there's certainly reason why eth is no.1 altcoin that's because it was the one that started smart contract trend and there's so many tokens that are good quality ones in eth blockchain.

I think those coins that collapsing are quite different with eth, luna is coin released by certain foundation meanwhile ftt is utility coin released by ftx exchanges so I think it couldn't be compared even though indeed there's always risk of collapsing but with eth it's gonna be different. you see luna crash also because of its ust coin.
i'm sure eth will just exists like btc since it has proven so many years that they still stand until now.

Ethereum is a good choice as an investment, but like always you need to do your own due diligence and only invest in it if you are convinced by what you see, ethereum is so popular and the number one altcoin because many other coins run above its network, so not only you are buying a coin but you can now have access to hundreds of others coins on the same blockchain, however ethereum recently made a transition to POS and no one knows exactly how it will react during the next bull market so if you are interested in buying it do so in small amounts at first and if ethereum is still doing well at the time then you can increase your investment if you want.
