AntiSwap.io - NO AML/KYC EXCHANGER MONITORING

It's disabled. I also tried using a VPN as suggested by SFR10 but that didn't help either, even after trying connecting to multiple nodes. I believe the syncing was fine, and it it only have broken after the latest big update they made, but the changelog (0.47.0) does not seem to have much related to XMR's syncing.
I tested Unstoppable again few days ago, and I had the same issue with monero wallet not syncing for a long time.
Only reason I reinstalled Unstoppable was to test their new exchange service with monero, but I didn't have the chance to do it.
Since now they have web version available I see no reason to install wallet just because of exchange, when I can simply use web version.
But I noticed they are using only centralized swap exchanges, so be careful with this:

Someone already brought this exact issue a few months ago, you can see their response here:

https://x.com/unstoppablebyhs/status/2012217501342421394

I believe the "Risk profile" (which I already spoke about in a previous post) thing is already live on android wallet.

The next Unstoppable Wallet update will add a new feature for swaps.

Users will be able to see risk labels next to the providers they use. Unstoppable Wallet will show the best rate for your chosen swap and the least risky provider.
Swaps will show DEX ways (0 risk) and non-DEX ways (non-0 risk).
Providers that carry out AML checks will have AML labels next to their names.

Still, always do your own research before you swap funds. Even something labelled as decentralized can freeze funds. Near Intents is one example.

People should be careful when using Exolix. It's an instant exchange that requires KYC from its users and performs AML checks but that doesn't always mean that you will receive "clean" and "safe" funds. In this example, they sent one customer stolen funds that were later frozen and confiscated by another exchange. They admitted their mistake but didn't want to do anything to rectify it.

You are right about Exolix, but I think Unstoppable wallet now have integrated rating system before initiating any exchange.
So now you are going to see warning if exchange can ask you for KYC verification with different risk levels, and you can just skip or disable it later.
There is also settings that can be enabled for Secure Send and Phishing Check.

Yes, Unstoppable Wallet has updated its swap feature. When you initiate a swap, the default behavior is for the wallet to show you the best rate on top. You can also sort the providers from fastest to slowest.

The screen shows the average swap time and risk level under each provider. "Auto" is the best one because it means an automatic swap with no coin confiscation and additional hassle. The swap either goes through automatically or you are refunded. There is also "Flexible", where coin confiscation is rare but possible. "PreCheck" is similar. The swap provider checks the history of your coins and can freeze and reject them. The last option is "Controlled." These providers use regular AML checks, your money can be frozen and you can be asked to undergo KYC or submit other proof/documents before getting your money.

It's not a secret that people tend to overdo it when advertising and talking about their products and services on social media. Unstoppable Wallet did just that yesterday, trying to make it seem that it's better to use a hot wallet, like Unstoppable, instead of a hardware wallet.

This is the tweet I am referring to:

- They say that battery failures happen from time to time. OK. No arguments there.
- Carrying a hardware wallet with you is a signal that you own (a lot of) bitcoin and crypto. I would agree with that, and I have never been a fan of flashing your hardware wallets publicly. You never know who is around and could see it. I prefer keeping mine at home, safely tucked away somewhere.
- They go on saying that hardware wallet users become victims of phishing attacks. This isn't excusive to hardware wallets. The same schemes exist for software wallets, exchanges, and anything else crypto or non-crypto-related that scammers deem worthy of stealing.
- The native apps of these devices introduce various types of attack vectors. They introduce some and then they get fixed. The same can be said about software wallets. It's always a fight between good and evil.
- Hardware wallets aren't private and the vendors know your name and can see your balances. True, but it also depends how you buy them and where. Some companies sell their devices in physical stores, like Best Buy and MediaMarkt. Parts for DIY HWs can be purchased from various unrelated sellers online.

In the end, Unstoppable and other software wallets aren't better and safer than good hardware wallets.

I've seen that post (or at least something similar) before. Most of it sounds about right, but the information is incomplete and one-sided. The full story would be that both hardware and (hot) mobile software wallets have use cases, and for the most part those use cases don't overlap. But the fact that they seem to think they must talk down hardware wallets to get people to use their app makes me trust them less.

Do they really expect people to carry around their life savings on their phone?

- They say that battery failures happen from time to time. OK. No arguments there.
In addition to LoyceV's comment, it's worth mentioning that most of them can still be used while being plugged in.

- The native apps of these devices introduce various types of attack vectors. They introduce some and then they get fixed. The same can be said about software wallets. It's always a fight between good and evil.
+ Considering that most of them are compatible with other wallets, they can always opt for one of the so-called safer ones.

- Hardware wallets aren't private and the vendors know your name and can see your balances. True, but it also depends how you buy them and where. Some companies sell their devices in physical stores, like Best Buy and MediaMarkt. Parts for DIY HWs can be purchased from various unrelated sellers online.
+ Some of them also give their users the option to use their own nodes.

In the end, Unstoppable and other software wallets aren't better and safer than good hardware wallets.
But the fact that they seem to think they must talk down hardware wallets to get people to use their app makes me trust them less.
Exactly and that's why I finally pulled the plug on them... I thought their app was unstoppable, but it turns out it wasn't that hard to stop them [I just did]: Select their app, then hit uninstall Cool

They thought they would never consider starting to produce their own hardware wallets in the future. If they do end up doing it, this post is a good way to remind them not to continue.

The market is indeed competitive. Wink

I agree with you there. Just focus on the features and pros of your product and work on improving the cons without making unnecessary comparisons and starting useless drama.
I like to ride my bicycle from time to time, but I am not going to advocate or pretend that cars and planes shouldn't be used because they are not as safe as my bicycle, and I am also not going to go on a holiday with it.

Here's one: get one without a battery Wink
Or connect it to your desktop via cable and use it that way. Using it wirelessly isn't a must if it doesn't work.

Do they really expect people to carry around their life savings on their phone?
Even honest owners and developers of software wallets shouldn't make that argument regardless of how much they love the apps they make. They know there are better ways than that. They are just BS-ing their audience.

Do all these people get hit by a rock all of a sudden or how the hell do so many companies or teams create something nice and then decide to destroy their reputation in a single X post?  It does not make any sense.  You would think these people see how much Bitcoin related misinformation is all around the internet and would try to be better and stop it instead of putting more crap for newbies to read.

Do not carry a Trezor on you, it screams that you own Bitcoin.  Instead, carry this device you may be asked to hand over unlocked at the airport for security to go through and insert a strange USB cable into to clone it just in case!

Trezor comes with an app that opens attack surfaces.  Instead, put all your net worth on your phone where you browse the most dubious websites, open all sorts of documents and files, read mail and download 100 apps and games on, you will be safer!

Hardware wallets fail every now and then, so get Unstoppable because phones never do.  When was the last time someone published a Reddit post desperately asking for help because their phone has been boot looping for 3 days?  It has been years!

At the end of the day, that clown emoji above their motto fits them well.  They should keep using it.

Horizontal Systems did a good turn for Android users by releasing version 0.48.4 of their Unstoppable Wallet yesterday, a release that focused largely on Zcash improvements. Interestingly, for iOS users the latest version is still 0.48, which was released back on April 10. It makes me wonder why the Horizontal Systems developers seem so biased toward Android.

UPD. 35 minutes later 0.48.4 was bumped to version 0.48.5.
