Also read that Donaire might be facing Mexico's Alexandro Santiago for that WBC version of the bantamweight belt.

That's a better opponent for him I believe.

Alexandro Santiago has 3 losses and not a KO artist, so as long as he will not face a fighter like Inoue, this chance to win is higher. Though Alexandro Santiago is the younger fighter with 27 years of age, but the experience of Donaire is too much and this young boxer won't be able to handle it.

Also, the height is only 5′ 2½″ , that's the kind of target Donaire wants to KO.

Sounds fair for 40 year old KO artist to fight against a 27 yr old who has a poor record but doesn't make the fight exciting. This is not confirmed yet for there is no reason why they would give Santiago a title shot.

The fact that both of them either Donaire or Santiago will be in a cruel position after it. Any of them will face a more savage fighter when they become a champ.

Age can be an advantage in terms of stamina if Santiago will manage to finished the fight with UD but if Donaire will box him

Doaire is still deadly with his hook and his power punches, that combination can still
bring down his opponent, though we don't know yet if how Santiago will prepare and
how he might surprise all the fans when already inside the ring and fighting with Donaire.

Nice fight for both of the fighters.

I still root for Nonito Donaire to win despite him being the older fighter, well, some called him old already and has to retire from boxing, but I think he still has something to prove, he can make this opportunity to be a champion again before hanging those gloves.

He might be the older fighter but his lack of power and speed due to age can easily be underestimated. You seem to be especially forgetting his fighting experience. Its worth more than speed and power combined and it will be the reason why Donaire wins. It might not be a fast win but it will definitely be an easy one. Compared to Nonito Donaire, Jason Moloney is still green behind the ears and it will definitely show in the fight.

Age in boxing seems to be more of a marketing ploy to sell a fighter. Any smart gambler knows to bet on their own research of skills and past fights. Not age.

even if he losses this one, he might have a last chance to go and fight for the belt in other division. This is just WBC, there are still bodies that he is rank.

Not sure about that. Nonito Donaire might only have a clear shot at the WBC Bantamweight Title as he's ranked 1 here.

WBC, WBO, and IBF, he is not even ranked in the Top 3 contenders that's why he might nit be considered to get a title match here.

After Moloney withdrew from their fight, there are no clear plans yet for where Donaire's career is heading to.

I think it's better if he would face another nationality, again as I have said, Thailand's  Nawaphon Sor. Rungvisai  or PR's pride Emmanuel Rodriguez (who beat Jason Moloney).

I also don't want two Filipino to be in the same ring, as much as possible I also like to see other nationality to face Nonito Donaire, it give more excitement than seeing both Filipino fight, sure the title will be in a Filipinos hand who ever own the fight but it is sad to think that a fellow Filipino's record will be tarnished by another Filipino.

If this fight happens then there is a huge percentage that Donaire will win.  Since the guy is known to have not much punching power, then Donaire can fight the guy without any problem.  Besides the reach and height advantage is favorable to Donaire.

Age can be an advantage in terms of stamina if Santiago will manage to finished the fight with UD but if Donaire will box him
the chance of kissing the floor is possible.

as the boxer gets old I believe his stamina get worse.  So younger boxer has a better stamina, and stamina recovery.  I believe it is the experience where the older boxer have as an advantage.

Doaire is still deadly with his hook and his power punches, that combination can still
bring down his opponent, though we don't know yet if how Santiago will prepare and
how he might surprise all the fans when already inside the ring and fighting with Donaire.

I agree, I also think that Donaire's punches still have the same old sting in it.  So he is still capable of knocking his opponent down.

So if Rungvisai make a lot of mistakes trying to get inside of Donaire, they for sure he will taste some of those left hook and then combo in the body. So I wouldn't be surprised if Donaire wins another knockout victory in his next fight if either Rodriguez or Rungvisai will be his opponent for the belt.

Yes and that is the only thing holding Nonito Donaire on fighting directly on a title shot after Naoya Inoue vacated the belts, WBC is the nearest belt he could earn. I bet his team and Donaire was somehow pissed after knowing that Moloney won't consider this fight anymore a that would also mean that they will waste some more time finding other dance partner for Donaire to resume this title bout.

And for the WBA, WBO and IBF. Donaire's name will only be named to fight for the vacated belt if the same thing happens to the mandatory boxers.

Compared to Nonito Donaire, Jason Moloney is still green behind the ears and it will definitely show in the fight.

Jason Moloney's camp maybe feels that their boxer can't match with Nonito Donaire that's why I think it's not just about political wars between their promoters that can be pointed out as a reason for this failed negotiation. Been reading some comments about these fights in an international forum and the majority there think that Donaire is still one of the most dangerous bantamweight boxers regardless of his age and can handle Moloney without a big problem.

Nonito Donaire Jr. is the only one who gives Naoya Inoue the biggest challenge in the monster's career that's why handling Moloney should not be a big task for him. Unfortunately, this match won't happen now and we won't be able to by now if Donaire can still a threat to bantawmeight.

If that's what they think then I don't think Jason Moloney's will be bright. Just cherry picking an opponent does not make him a great fighter, Donaire is a great fighter, so he has to think of the opportunity he will get if he beat Donaire. I don't understand now, he is the younger fighter, has a good ranking and yet he chicken out on an old fighter?

Ok, it seems that Donaire will have to wait for his next opponent, the WBC has ordered Nawaphon Kaikhana vs Reymart Gaballo as eliminator and winner facing Donaire for the belt.

Quote
Kaikanha and Gaballo are ranked number-three and number-four, respectively, though clearly not next in line as they will instead face each other in a bid to become mandatory challenger.

https://www.boxingscene.com/nawaphon-kaikhana-reymart-gaballo-wbc-bantamweight-eliminator-eyed-us--172443

I thought it will be Nawaphon Kaikanha (Sor Rungvisai) for the title or even Emmanuel Rodriguez. But since this fighters are rank 3 and 4, they will have to go to a title eliminator before facing Donaire.

Looking at this information, there is a huge possibility that Donaire will be facing Gaballo for the vacant title.  If that happens, this fight might be a rematch since they had faced each other last Dec. 2021 where Nonito won via KO in round 4 if I am not mistaken.

It looks like a favorable fight for Donaire, even if he has to fight Nawaphon Kaikhana who lost to Jason Moloney via unanimous decision, I think Donaire still has the advantage.

I agree, that's why I want to see Donaire either against Nawaphon Kaikanha (Sor Rungvisai) or Emmanuel Rodriguez. However, if the young Gaballo wins here, it's going to be all Filipino again for the WBC bantamweight title, which might not sit well for some of us because we don't want to see that kind of fight, specially Gaballo who is still very young and could be the next great champion, but there will be Donaire who is going to mess his plans. Nevertheless, again win-win for Filipinos since obviously whoever win between them will carry our flag with pride.

I agree with your statement. I also want to see a match between Runvisai vs Donaire though I doubt that it will happen anytime soon. If there is one thing that is a fact on this match, it is that Donaire is slowly becoming older as the years pass by. He was nicknamed the "Filipino Flash" for his speed and accuracy, though he is slowly deteriorating as the years pass by.

If the match between Rungvisai and Donaire happen in the future, this is something that I would definitely watch and gamble my money for. This is the entertainment that most would probably love due to both their aggressiveness and style on the court.

I want Donaire to test himself against Nawaphon Sor. Rungvisai, I think it will be a good match, Rungvisai is very aggressive and it will fit on Donaire's style. Nonito is known to have his left hook, very patented of him. But he usually used it to fighters who want's to walk him down and think that they can easily out power him.

Time is running fast for Donaire, but we will have to wait when is this title eliminator between Gaballo vs Runvisai, it just says the fight will be held in US soil, but no definite date as of yet.

And after this, it might take another 3-4 months for Donaire to wait before the winner is again can fight.

So most probably at the end of the year or early next year, but it's going to be a long layoff for him.

As long as he will fight this year that matters.

But yes, time is running out for Donaire. If only Moloney didn't back out, Donaire had a chance to secure at least 2 fights this year.

What happened already happened and we just need to wait.

Wait, is the winner between Gaballo and Runvisai now the possible opponent for Nonito Donaire? Since Moloney backed out, why did the WBC instead just mandate and ordered the current rank 3 on their Bantamweight rankings to face Donaire instead?

I'm referring to Rank 3 WBC Bantamweight contender Nawaphon Kaikanha who loses to Moloney last October.

Instead of waiting for long and keeping Donaire hanging, Probelleum should rush things to deal a fight for Donaire after Moloney backed out.

He really needs to be having his next opponent right now since the guy might already be trained to beat Moloney but the dude has backed out, now Donaire is hungry for a fight and they don't want to mess this one up because we all know how good is he and how much money they can get when he will step in the ring no matter who will be the opponent is. Maybe if he likes it, he can still fight two more fights this year and that would be depending on the result of his next fight.

Well, that indeed means that Nonito Donaire's chances to become a champion once again is going much higher this time as Reymart Gaballo won't be a threat to Donaire as he was the one who gave Gaballo his first knockout and defeat in his career. But for the Thai boxer, I wonder if he can give a good fight because his defeat against Moloney wasn't as bad as it was just a regular unanimous decision. Either way, I still think that Donaire got a chance because the two contenders are more of a local to me, I mean, just look at their records.

Unless there is something going on from which we are unaware this does not make sense at all, Donaire as good as he is needs to be as active as possible and this means getting two fights per year to maximize his potential before his imminent retirement, and if the fight for another title is delayed is possible that at best he will only get one fight during this year, which is disappointing as he is already 40 years old and not many boxers can retain their skills well into their forties.

yes , Donaire seems like limiting his fight with 1 fight a year , maybe extending the fighting will improve his ranking and also His dedication , because Even Manny Pacquiao in his prime are having 2 fights a year and yes he maintain his speed and his momentum.
hope that Donaire's side will consider this as well.
