Money is not for everyone to have. Gold is not for everyone to have. Bitcoin is not for everyone to have, there are reasons some people do not use bitcoin, but the adoption continues as more people know what bitcoin is and how to use it.

There is always room for adaptation. It is not as if this same old people don't get scammed through the regular fiat money, they found a way to adapt. Aside that many countries now operate on cashless policy and this advanced citizens still find a way to adapt so if eventually Bitcoin get full adoption this same citizens will adapt. Just like they are getting scammed through fiat and majority learn to be more careful with their fund the same will apply when Bitcoin finally get adopted

Full adoption of bitcoin by the global community will take time, maybe more than a decade. Therefore, when (if) full adoption of bitcoin by the community around the world occurs, those who understand it all, that is, the current generation, will be considered older people.

Adoption does not imply that everyone will have it, use it, or invest in it. Adoption allows more people to have an alternative way of saving money. We humans only do and participate in things that will not stress us out while also making us a lot of money. If the elderly are unable to use it, they can continue to save with fiat local banks or even gold.

There's plenty of the older generation using Bitcoin. I know, the stereotypes, and as with most stereotypes there's a element of truth to that. I know the transition will be difficult, but that's what humans do. We're actually extremely good at adapting, even though consciously, we don't like change. Call it evolution if you want, eventually if Bitcoin is successful in mainstream adoption, most people will have an incentive to learn, and therefore will learn.

Alright, as Charles-Tim says; it's not actually for everyone. Think of people who aren't very good at security, I personally don't recommend those people to be responsible for their own wealth. In fact, that's why I say that banks will, and probably should always exist. So, while it's already a security concern to allow a third party be in charge of your money, it can help certain people who have no concept of security whatsoever. Honestly, that's a quite large portion of the population too.

There will always be people who will never get to understand how Bitcoin works, or how a Wallet works.  And that is alright really.

I know some young people who have less capacity of understanding technology than some people over 60 years old that I know.  It is fine.  And never will every body know how to use technology.  How many people know how to make a Wire Transfer.  How many people know how to do anything else besides checking balance, withdrawing and depositing Cash to ATM's.  This will apply to Bitcoin as well.

But fortunately, unlike Banks, Bitcoin is universal.  Every thing applies universally.  I can use the same wallet as you whether we are in the same city, country or continent.  Our wallet works the same so it now gets much easier to understand how to use Bitcoin.  Unlike ATM's placed by Banks which have different UI's, different functions, different experiences.  Nowadays, they even have mobile phone apps.  Also different.  Some of them very badly written.

This means Bitcoin Wallets have online tutorials that are 3 clicks away if you are interested in finding them.  So, the learning experience is much smoother with Bitcoin.  Bitcoin adoption is not about every single human on Earth using it.  It is simply about being allowed to use it in the daily world as optional alternative to the Banking system at any given time.  Some people will never do it.  And that is fine too.

Old people will never get scammed if they don’t browse much about investment opportunities in the internet and just use Bitcoin for personal savings or money transfer to their relatives.

I believe young people is more prone for being scam because they are the one who always explore and try all those investment opportunities that promise huge return. I have a grandpa and he is investing on stock market. It’s very to convince him to allocate on crypto because he is very cautious and stick to his principles of investing. It’s very rare for old people to risk money on things that they didn’t understand properly unless they are influenced by someone whom they really trust for their investment.

I believe that for around adoption bitcoin should become more suitable for consumers. I don’t know how exactly this will be implemented, but I think that storing btc and sending it will become easier and more accessible. In principle, this is no longer difficult to perform using smartphones and qr-codes.

The difficulty of using btc arises not only in the elderly, but also in people at the very dawn of their lives. A lot of people in the world don't know how to use a PC, not to mention owning bitcoin, creating wallets and so on. But this line is gradually blurred thanks to smartphones.

Probably, in the future it will be so that not everyone will have btc.

Old people may not be considered too much in terms of this digital era since it's a technology that requires experience and activeness to remain truly decentralized, there's a certain limit the over aged ones can go far in this digital era, but a good advantage is from their own children if they are interested to allow them have control over their asset because old parent can easily forget things and in cryptocurrency you don't play with your keys or passwords, there are better investment they can physically appear to participate without having issues even along with the bitcoin network but not for a long while, and this also called for the need of their children to be fully involved if they will be investing in bitcoin.

That's not 100% true. I mean, even exchanges have been known to scam users. Even the big ones. So, there's a potential to lose Bitcoin at any point, and then there's the issue of losing your seeds, and private keys. Which, by the way due to certain conditions, the older you get the more susceptible you are to it. There' also issues like getting physically hurt, and sustaining brain damage. Like, there's a ton of things that can go wrong in your life, which ultimately means you lose your Bitcoin. The benefit of banks is that this can usually be verified, and recovered since it's tied to your identity. Bitcoin isn't, so you statement isn't exactly correct, even though I do get your point.

If Bitcoin were to become mainstream though, trading with Bitcoin for goods would likely have to happen for those that use it.

Just being frank with everyone here but I did try to teach my mom about simple fiat digital transactions and she panicked when she was required to do a simple account transfer. I am from India and money transfer does not take a lot of days but seconds as we have UPI. I did try my level best to teach her how to transfer money, which she was unable to do. The reason behind it was that she had to go to a lot of screens(only 3) and enter a password.

Before Bitcoin or any other internet money was invented it was simple for them as they just needed cash to do any transaction. At the moment it is so difficult to understand for older people in my country that you can pay pennies using a mobile phone.

it is really hard for them to understand a simple digital transaction why force them to use Bitcoin? Let them be as they were when life was simple and without any obligation.

It ain't hard for old people to understand what bitcoin is, you simply tell them that it's a money and an asset at the same time. That will make them think of what it looks like and then just say that it's a digital thing and a form of money and asset in combination for which they can spend anywhere they want as long as it's accepted thus, has to be converted into paper money for them to understand that it's a real thing convertible to cash.

Probably a slightly controversial opinion — but it's either:

1. UI/UX designers find a way for Bitcoin's general experience to be easy enough for technologically-illiterate people
2. Technologically-illiterate people actually makes good amounts of effort to understand it

or, the most likely outcome in my opinion:

3. Bitcoin is simply just for the next generation, which consists more of decently technologically-illiterate people

If they can use their smartphone then definitely they can use bitcoin and maybe in coming years we may see more easily accessible wallets for such old people so they don't have to do many techy works, they simply open the app scan the QR code, and pay it just simple as texting back.

Well, bitcoin becoming the mainstream worldwide accepted currency we still have lot of time so by that time we may have people with advanced technical knowledge so it won't be a barrier to adopt.

Old people getting involved with Bitcoin isn't a bad idea, Too teaching them about how to use BTC isn't a problem either, but where I do think the difficulties could come in here, Is in their inability to graps the whole process involved with using BTC. So considering what it takes to safely store Bitcoin in a wallet like the Nano wallet, it could be a turn off for the old ones.
This should be thaught to the old people that will easily understand the whole process in using and storing Bitcoin safely.

Money is not for everyone to have. Gold is not for everyone to have. Bitcoin is not for everyone to have, there are reasons some people do not use bitcoin, but the adoption continues as more people know what bitcoin is and how to use it.
Till date there are people that have never used an ATM for financial transaction. Other see internet banking as a strange technology. Most of them are limited by illiteracy, lack of facilities or fear that these inventions are prone to criminal activities. There are persons that would always see bitcoin as a scam or a currency that would soon vanish. And most people in this category are those that are fifty years and above. Until bitcoin becomes the only currency of a country, which might not be visible currently, people would always choose a simple alternative. For now bitcoin is seen as the currency of the youths, maybe as we get old, we would change the narrative.

If they don't develop an interest do not walk up to them and try to confuse them, they will never understand no matter how much you want them to, I believe that innovation like Bitcoin and crypto is meant for the coming generation not the old people, though few of them still want to be a part, I've seen 60 years old man building crypto mining farm and storing BTC and Ethereum.

If there is still no of intuitive and simple way of usage, most seniors surely won't even bother to use it. Or simply if the convenience is lacking, I think that will lower the utilization.

Contrasting it to the current condition of other technological progress, there are services like GoGoGrandparent, where they became middlemen of many online-based services for seniors. They make a simple app to use that bridges the bloated user interfaces of the current many online-based services. Just by dialling the number, the users are informed and able to choose the expected services by simply pressing a number. So, I believe those kinds of usage are what the cryptocurrencies needed to be viable to be used for seniors or non-tech-savvy users.

One part of this problem is that today's old people still tend to be bad with technology, although they do better than the generations before them. But also old people in general suffer from loss of congnitive functions, and as we know Bitcoin is a very unforgiving system. If you forget where you placed your seed, you may loose access to your coins. If you loose attention, you can forget to double-check the address and send to a wrong one. If you stop being cautious, you can get malware or fall for phishing and lose your coins.

Perhaps old people and people who are most at risk of doing the mentioned mistakes would be better off using a Bitcoin bank. They would lose most of the Bitcoin's benefits like control over own funds, but at least they will have a deflationary currency.
