We can analyze Magsayo's two losses to Vargas ...

Just a correct, Magsayo only lose once to Vargas, his only loss actually.
You can check on the record - https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/653034

Figueroa will be Magsayo's stepping stone to being back in the limelight, he has to take it slowly but surely, take care of Figueroa first and let's see if a Vargas vs Magsayo rematch will come into reality.

The chances of the said rematch to happen is quite decent as long as he will defeat Figueroa along the way and not just a common defeat, he needed a statement here because either way, Magsayo will be called to challenge Vargas's title because the winner of this fight will have the chance to fight the WBC belt holder which is Vargas. Now, this rematch though may not happen if Vargas will make a climb to the next weight class.

Mark Magsayo already faces some top fierce in the Featherweight Division like Gary Russel Jr. and Rey Vargas.

Facing Figueroa, there should be at least a bit of an advantage for Magsayo in terms of experience.

As both of them I believed are hungry for a title, I expect that we can see a close and intense match here.
Both are experienced in their respective status and yes they are also both Hungry for title so we will be betting here with complete blindness whom to win.
not like in most fight that there are advantages or bigger reviews? in this fight both are almost the same as valued so yes this will definitely an exciting event that will be recorded for the  boxing industry this 2023.

That's what make this bout a good fight to see next month because even they ranked over and below each other, their power difference are somehow the same and that would likely mean that we might see a close fight that will likely finish in a decision. Although, I like to point out that Magsayo got some kind of advantage over Figueroa as he had some experience already.

I would like to see the same,  since Magsayo  have that experienced he can use that to push his shot and claim the title, not an easy task but if he can pushed for that solid combination he can forced Figueroa to a toe-to-toe confrontation.

Hoping to see that he will take that advantage  to box and corner his opponent and takes the win. Everything will be concluded  after the fight looking to see enjoyable  actions from both fighters.

I think that is somehow expected because Mark Magsayo really want a toe-to-toe fight and not a boring one, the more confrontation, the more chances of him to win the fight because his IQ in the ring has improved and his experience can truly help him for that to have an advantage against Figueroa. He should just take it slow because this fight will be his ticket towards a title fight.

Now, this rematch though may not happen if Vargas will make a climb to the next weight class.

Aside from moving up weight, if Rey Vargas will win his upcoming fight, no chance for a rematch with Magsayo at 126 for a title match.

If he loses instead, he's still holding the WBC Featherweight Title and will mandatorily face the winner between Mark Magsayo and Brandon Figueroa.

But it seems that Mark Magsayo is not really looking forward to a rematch against Rey Vargas but instead will just go with the flow on whoever is assigned as his opponent and will focus there. I do hope that his aggressiveness to get that title again will have the same intensity as when he first grabbed it from Gary Russell Jr. or even much better.

That is the main flaw of Magsayo he is very used to it because he has fought local fighters for too long, it's very different when you're fighting fighters from other territories, especially when you are fighting Mexican fighters who are known for their being sluggers, like Pacquiao he must use a lot of angles, counter punching and managing the distance, he can learn a lot from Fulton the only guy who beat Figueroa who beats him by fighting inside because Figueroa is the taller fighter.

I checked Magsayo's all opponents in his career and only a few of them are locals. That might not be the point of concern.

Maybe the best one to point out is, Magsayo is not used to fighting against boxers with an average of 5'8 height and over 70+ inches of reach.

So far, the biggest name in Magsayo's opponent list with a height of over 5'8 and a reach of about 70+ inches are Rey Vargas and his next opponent, Brandon Figueroa. Since Magsayo already faced Vargas and even won one of the judge's scorecards in that fight, his team might already have a strategy now on how to deal with a boxer with that characteristic.

and actually this is why I am not looking at the popularity of each boxer instead I am digging their past fights and their potential opponents so I can check the possible outcome and not just because this one is popular and viewers choice?
Boxers has their own capacity and ability that sometimes changes depending to their opponents.
so Yes Magsayo and Figueroa has both chances to win.

Looks like majority of voters are  fan or supporters of Magsayo (like me lol)  sono wonder why the votes comes out favoring the Filipino Boxer but that does not represent the outcome of the fight because Figueroa has also a good record that cannot be denied lol.
I am still not contented to whom would be my bet for, the Odd is good so yes? Magsayo have big chance but also Figueroa can take his way winning against the Pinoy boxer.

Brandon Figueroa is a dangerous opponent. Although this is a redemption fight for Magsayo and he needs this so much, his opponent this time is one that is not easy to beat. Figueroa is a powerful puncher. Magsayo should be careful enough not to expose his jaw or he will go down. Magsayo will have to improve his head movement.

Figueroa himself is coming from a successful redemption fight against Castro after he was defeated by Fulton. So he has already recovered his confidence inside the ring. Magsayo has yet to have that.

They will give everything that their power can bring because surely? this fight will be one of the most awaited because of their status and position in this division .

Figueroa is my bet for this one , but i will only put small amount because Magsayo is also best to bet on.

Not sure if Figueroa is a powerful puncher, as others have said, he is more of a volume boxer, throwing a lot per rounds and that is his strength. He almost beat Stephen Fulton with that kind of strategy.

Figueroa himself is coming from a successful redemption fight against Castro after he was defeated by Fulton. So he has already recovered his confidence inside the ring. Magsayo has yet to have that.

The pressure here is more on Magsayo, as you have said, it's redemption time for him, so he either win here to have a chance for the belt again, or lose and it will be square one for Mark and his rankings will be affected and might take him a year to get another crack at the champion.

Indeed, Magsayo is facing a lot of pressure now. A fighter's first defeat must be traumatic after having been winning one fight after another for a long time. But I guess it must be harder to keep that defeat out of his mind and make sure it will be a thing of the past already. The stake is high. 2 consecutive losses after being undefeated must be hard to recover from. So this is somehow an all or nothing fight for him. He can't afford the loss of confidence and self-esteem if he is once again defeated this time around.

Right, it will be a big test for Magsayo in this fight, and he has to believed that he can beat a brawler and a volume puncher in Figueroa. Hopefully, they can find a strategy on how they are going to defeat Figueroa. Mark has the advantage of the speed and power, but Brandon hands are very busy and it's up to Magsayo how to deal with the amount of punches that Figueroa will throw in this fight. He has to somewhat hurt him so that he will slow down, let him feel his power early on the fight and then Mark go for a knockout if given the chance.

I'm not sure if this will truly take part in each boxing fight because Boxers no matter if fighting against local or international ? they will look upon them as same type of person and that is someone they must knock down or else they will be the loser, the only thing that mostly effect the boxer is the weather in each country that they will fight on because it depends in their areas in which their training will mostly affected.
but in terms of willingness and capacity? it does not really matter in my own belief.

He must win this fight, otherwise that opportunity will be gone and he'll be having a hard time finding that again. yes, he lose once, maybe he can make his own excuse and try to improve himself, but if he losses again, then that would only tell that he is not really bound to be a big star like Donaire.

True, he is lucky that it does not take long for him to wait for a big fight, now that its here, this is an opportunity to prove that although he is not undefeated anymore, but he can become a champion again. We only have few Filipino boxing champs, so I'm sure Magsayo is now inspired to carry the nation in this fight and will go home bringing the glory.

I don't think weather is a big factor to affect boxer performance, the fight is happen inside a building, not outdoor. I think crowd and judges are the big factor which determine the outcome when the fight end in decision. When a boxer isn't have a good mental and emotion, the crowd might pressure him and the judges often favor on the boxer from their country.

If a boxer already is already experienced to fight away from his country, he can manage his mental and emotion very well.

Let's wait for the result of this fight and maybe Vargas will not think of climbing, instead, he will be giving Magsayo a chance for a rematch because the first fight wasn't really a unanimous decision win by him, so that will certainly excite the crowd and promoters will love that as it's easy to market the fight.

Chances like this are not seen every day and no matter what happened, if he really wanted to pursue his dream, then he should win this fight and do everything he can to beat Figueroa. Maybe this is one of the most exciting fights will gonna happen to his career because he needs to put everything in here and improve himself in order not to be the same fighter when he suffered his first loss. Now is the time to prove to them that he still has the power to become a legend in boxing.

Wait, help me understand about this mate because I'm in the middle of confusion here. If Vargas will get defeated on his upcoming fight which is 2 days from now, why would he still be carrying the WBC title? His fight with Foster is a title defense fight, so if he will lose, then Foster will get it right? And Foster will fight the winner of Magsayo vs Figueroa.

Or did I miss something? Huh
