So if I read this correctly, I need to deposit atleast $80 to ensure that I will play for 4 straight weeks to get the password? Its a pretty interesting add on rules but thats not really stopping anyone to stop playing after the 1st week isnt it as I could just withdraw the remaining $60 if I dont feel like playing for the next games I guess

Why not post the pw publicly? If it's a buyin game, there's nothing lost if someone snipes the pw outside of btctalk right? More players, bigger pool for that game IMO.

I like your suggestion. It might be really good to post the PW here. In this way, people who are just reading along silently or who decide shortly beforehand to take part can also take part. With the buy-in, no one who would disrupt the game will join. Cygan can test it for the first evening to see if it works so well or if there are problems. Even if one or two people participate who don't have a BTCT account, it certainly wouldn't matter as the prize money would increase. But let's see what cygan and icopress say about it.

It seems pretty exciting that the famous poker tournaments will return soon, and the good thing here is that they are sponsored by betnomi and Icarus.
I look forward to hearing more about the finalized rules and tournament participation.

Why don't you put the password in the OP with all the dates for the tournaments. I mean if you set the buyin to 0.001 mBTC or the amount we agreed on, we should be fine.

Even if you send PMs, people can easily share the password, as I doubt there will be a separate password for each invited user. For example, I would also have 1-2 friends who are rarely active on Bitcointalk and have only written a few posts so far, but would probably participate in such a poker tournament.

If we ended up with 20-30 players instead of only 10, the game experience would be much better tbh.

if icopress doesn't mind, we would then announce the pw publicly, and then every user with the combination buy-in + pw can sit at the tables together with the other players.

The 1 issue I see is with the Icarus cards. If someone joins who is not on the forum, they may not know of the cards for reaching the final table, so a card me be unclaimed. Other than that, as long as that's not an issue, should be good to go.

One could set the Betnomi tournament rules/description so that the Icarus cards are considered an "additional prize" that must be actively claimed by the winners in this thread. Winners interested in a card will then post here in the thread and @cygan will contact them to arrange shipping. If for some reason some cards are not claimed, we could simply raffle the remaining cards among the participants of our poker round.

This would then have the advantage that even players who don't have much experience in poker would still have a small additional chance to win the great Ikarus cards (and that may attract even more players).

If it were for the amount of the prize or GTD, I put my $30, $20 or the 0.001 btc in another tournament that will surely be more profitable just by doing ITM.

In this sense, the accounts must at least have a minimum registration time of one year in the forum.

It's not the bitcointalk poker series though, it's just a sponsored series being brought to the forum. Ideally 99.9% of the players will come from this forum, but why would it matter if 100 not from the forum joined? You will need "sharp" skills no matter where the players come from.

And if someone jumps in from the side I think it's not a big deal. Some of us can inform them about all this in the chat... that there is a sponsored final table and in order to reach it they will have to collect points (and maybe register here). I think we had that situation in the last series, as I remember Yahoo found a few players who played poker on Betnomi already.

If, that's a big if. 20 players would be amazing, at least in the first game! But to be honest, I am not very optimistic. I guess we will see how many people will actually play when they open registration for the first game.

If we take a look at previous tournaments, we are lucky if we can get atleast 15 players on AVERAGE to stick and play all the qualifier games. We are probably going to get 15-25 players on the first one or two games then most players are going to drop the last two games because they think they wont make it into the final table

But that wouldn't be such a bad start for the tournament series tbh. Unfortunately, during the last series it was somewhat owed to the format that some participants lost interest at the end because they could no longer make it to the final table.

Anyway, let's wait and see what the exact rules and times of the tournaments are. I am confident that we will be a bunch of participants this time. The organizers @cygan and @icopress are well connected in our community and there will certainly be a few more users who will participate on their recommendation.

At least I already found some threads were I saw some lovely advertising for this poker round.

Well, that is lost in a high percentage when you are committed only to playing poker and you do not leave any commitment to the forum(Community, feedback, talk, etc.).

Then, I have always thought that, if a BTTPS series were to be organized, we should have a participation of at least one player per campaign of those that exist in the forum, why not?
