On the previous thread, How to thrive with low income in a humble area, we have talked mainly about saving strategies in order to accumulate funds at the end of the month for investment purposes. However, to save money is only the first step towards prosperity.

It was pointed out income must be raised and built, since many are unemployed in such areas, therefore they can't save anything.

So, let's think together what people can do to build new sources of income, without the need of high educational backgrounds:


Work with food manufacture: food is essential in every human beings' lives. You can buy raw materials, cook it and sell more expensive. Even though people don't have money to spare, they can't stop eating and many aren't willing to cook by themselves, so they do the sacrifice of spending on food.

Check what people are willing to buy for daily meals, and then if you can provide it to them.

You don't have to sell it expensive, anyway, so you will have more customers in a frequent basis. Sales can be done from door to door on the neighborhood or the entire city. Going to other cities with a large stock is also an idea, but fuel/tickets' costs must be taken into consideration.

Personal example: I bought manioc direct from the farmer producer. Washed it, peeled, cut, pre-cooked and freezed in packages of 0,5kg. Since meat is more expensive, people tend to prefer the manioc to replace it, due to low costs. So it's easy to sell.

Resell goods (also food): you can buy goods and even food cheaper and resell it from door to door with a profit margin for yourself. It's possible to import goods or buy from your country to resell. In my opinion this method is already saturated, because there are many importers, but with food it works better, if you have a quality, tasty product and can acquire it for cheap price.

Personal example: bought pieces of cheese (0,5kg) directly from producer to resell and put a competitive price compared to supermarkets' ones.

Develop a good relationship with the neighborhood and offer your handyman services: there might be earnings' opportunities where you least expect. If you have contact with people around and tell them you can execute tasks for extra income, they will call you at some point, especially elders who have more limitations. It can be to make a delivery, paint a room/wall, cleaning or maintenance services and so on...


These are just few examples, but there are more ways to build an income in your area. If you don't have an initial investment, which is required for the first two examples above, you can try asking the seller for a payment period.

To organize any kind of sale of products, and I think you have semifinished products or baked goods, you must be sure that you can sell them. That is, the product will be in demand. And this product must be unique or very cheap, which again makes it meaningless to spend on it.
The same with the scheme: buy low, sell high. You didn't come up with this scheme. To buy a batch, you need money—free money. Does an unemployed person with a low standard of living have it? Anyone who wants to buy cheaper also knows the way to cheap markets, and in order to interest the buyer, your product must be very cheap.
I believe that the only way out is to enter the labor force. Selling yourself as a one-time wageworker is the most realistic way out.

Can't agree anymore, I live in one of third world country where majority of people earn low wage and live in poor, many people doesn't want to buy and appreciate an unique craft, it make you wasting a lot time to earn low profit. I knew there are a lot craft man who's creating good wood craft, painting, and others, but their life are really poor and they can't change their life.

If you're poor and live in a poor country, if you want to change your life, you should work as a freelancer where your clients are from developed countries or you're move to the developed countries.

It's a lot easier to live in a humble area where your neighbors knew you than living in the city where if you are 40+ years old, you may not be able to find a job. In the humble area, say Wyoming you can just be a prepper who can plant veggies on a 300 sqm lot and catch fish in the lake. You will survive a lifetime with these skills while you will experience hardships even if you earn $50 a week in the city.

Freelancing is a very good option when it comes to surviving in developing nations because when one receives payment in dollars it became huge when it is converted to the local currency. Some people in my country are surviving through these freelancing jobs. But sometimes some of them require some level of education or skills which many people lack. For those that are not literate learning a vocational or technical skill might be handy.

Also going into subsistent farming with low capital might assist financially. But the challenge in my locality is that most people want to get rich quickly, hence they are not willing to learn a skill. They prefer to engage in illegal activities that will give them quick money.

I don't think that you can start earning money via signature campaigns immediately either, as first you have to rank up your account to at least Full Member rank (I don't know if there are any sig campaigns that accept lower rank than that) and that in the best case scenario takes at least ~4 months. So no matter what you chose, you will have to invest some time and effort.

Having said that, I've seen a lot of people from 3rd world countries working as Telegram/Discord admins so that seems like another option to earn extra income as it doesn't require any extra investment and its something that can be done on mobile phone. Big downside of almost every crypto related job (unless you are Solidity dev or something along those lines) is that it relies heavily on state of the market so in bear it might be much harder to find work.

This looked too much like a basic, how to make money or how to survive thread 101. Reason being in a humble area with low income it'll be impossible for you to "import" anything into the country. Such things are only possible for people who are ordering in bulk and selling. The best thing that can be done is to play the wholesale to retail channel for food, but obviously that would require a complete full time attention so it's something you'll have to do full time, so it's good only if you don't have any other job.

I had a short stint selling food on top of my actual job, and I can tell you that it's no easy feat and would only work if you have a lot of free time in your hands at home and if you are really dedicated in what you do. I easily lost interest because the returns aren't that great, and the amount of time you have to spend preparing everything leaves you with little to no rest. Also, you need to buy and source the goods. If you really are that tight in money and can really use the extra income, it somewhat gives you something, but for me it isn't really worth the hassle at all.

Be open minded and go out from your comfort zone. If you can do that, you will start to discover that there are better jobs outside your 8-hour day job. As long as you have certain talents and skills you have developed, it will be easier for you to accept side hustles that will improve your way of living and will put you into a more financial progress and stability. So even if you are minimum wage earner, that won’t be a problem as you have side hustles that you can rely too and that can provide you additional income enough not to struggle financially.

Actually there are a lot of jobs around that you could make a good source of income as long as you are not choosy and you always put your best in everything you do. You can sell foods and deliver them door to door so that you can maximize your sales than just putting a store and wait for them to buy for you. But if you aim for bigger profits, consider side hustles to provide you bigger income. The smarter you are, the more skilled you are, the higher the chances that you will succeed in the end.

So basically your tip to people is to get money by working? Sure, but don't you think this is little patronizing? That people wouldn't have thought about basic jobs you describe?
That they would just do existing jobs as a freelancer and hope that there wouldn't be competition in those work areas, and that people would just buy anything or hire you for handyman stuff and not hire a professional who knows what he is doing?

I mean yeah, basically you can find new areas you are good at and try to monetize those but that doesn't mean they would be magically profitable. In fact they could be opposite depending what kind of risk you are taking and how much your time you will be spending.

Cooking food is a service that you provide to other people who cannot cook food, but success in this industry does not depend on the quality of cooking or whether it is a thing, but is related to things such as dealing with customers, the location, the cleanliness of the place and a lot of other things. The skills you need to acquire are more than cooking good food.

Buying and selling food at a different price that includes transportation and storage costs, which are linked to fuel and energy prices, which can change to lead to significant losses.

What I am trying to convey is that all these activities require more knowledge from you than just finding a job, which is the easiest way to collect money.

I understand what @OP wanted to convey.  There is kind of food that isn't expensive and is popular and sellable.  For example, one can prepare snacks and sell them to the neighborhood.  the money needed to start such business isn't that much.  And if ever the person is jobless, he do have relatives, siblings or parents that can lend him money to start his food selling venture.

If you offer a service just like what @OP stated, you do not need capital whatsoever, all we need is an able body that can do the task.  One of the common service that a neighborhood demand is garbage collecting, where a person collects households garbage and wait for the service truck to dump the garbage.  That is one service that can generate money without any capital except for able body and time.

Actually there are a lot of jobs around that you could make a good source of income as long as you are not choosy and you always put your best in everything you do. Being choosy which would really make yourself that suffer because you would be ending up on having no job.Its true that someone deserves a pay which would really be in equal of their worth or capabilities but there are indeed situations which we cant really be able to avoid that you dont really have no choice.You would really be needing to lower your standards and lower your pride on which you would be needing to have money for you to survive.Accept your fate if you dont have any choice.Even though it would be low income but it doesnt mean that it would be the end or you would struggle out hard.
Go and face up the challenges in life because it is never been simple since from the start unless if you had inherited from your parents or someone then it is an exclusion.

That is what was taught to me by an experienced friend, and now I'm passing it ahead, maybe it can worth for someone else as it was a worthful experience for me.

Well, it will depend on how people nearby see you, including your family members/close people.
