The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

At he moment I am mining Monero with my htpc, as it is running 24/7, AMD Athlon 200GE with Radeon Vega Graphics.
I don't use it for gaming.

Have set it up as a local monero node, need abt. 150GB SSD, and configured p2pool on it and mine with xmrig.

Avg. 1050/1100 H/s temp abt. 44C power from the wall is 43W while I still watch Netflix/Amazon Video or YT.

As for a steamdeck I think it is possible to mine with your CPU but don't know if the iGPU will work.

I only mine with my htpc as it is running anyway and it costs abt. 10W extra. AT the moment I am not mining with GPU's as the powerbill is abt €0.8 kWh and at that price I cannot afford GPU mining no matter what other people sa or do.

I am assuming the only coin you can mine with that type of processor which has 4 cores and 8 threads at a 3.5 Ghz speed in a relatively new architecture, the Zen 2 should be CPU mineable coins like Monero and Raptoreum.I don't know if someone has built a miner for that type of mini PC but if the processor is the same as our normal PC-s then you should be able to mine any CPU mineable coins.

It's never a good idea to mine with anything that's portable or has a battery. The CPUs are too weak to produce anything significant
and they can't handle the heat of constant full load.
But it's possible, Zen2 CPUs are well supported but it will depend on the OS.

Simple answer, you can.

Take a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vxxvl8jFBW0

But please, don't do that, you'll probably kill your steam deck in exchange of a few dollars.
Better to buy BTC / ETH or any coin you want and wait until next bull run.

There's 3 main problems with your idea:

Steam Deck doesn't have enough power to mine at a reasonable hashrate, doesn't have enough heat dissipation and have a battery (heat is the main enemy of the battery)

I wonder how cost-effective it will be compared to buying a dedicated PC for mining. Even if it was cost-effective, the profit might be questionable too. Can't say anything for sure unless somebody tested it I guess. Doing some Steam Deck reselling business is probably better at the end of the day, especially in a country where a local reseller is hard to find.

OP, from your post history I found that you own a 3070 TI already. Since you already tried mining on it, what makes you believe you can use your Steam Deck to mine profitably? Do you have cheap electricity access but can't make it work with your GPU or something? It sounds like you already run your PC for mining quite comfortably for now. That aside, websites like whattomine might be able to help you calculate further.

Mining crypto with a mini gaming PC like the Steam Deck is a fascinating endeavor. Your PC's hardware, especially the graphics card, plays a pivotal role. Some coins are more GPU-friendly, so it's essential to research which ones align with your PC's specs.
Are you going to download miners on this gaming PC on Steam?
There are no miners for this video card. Steam Deck hardware is not optimized for mining. If this is a powerful portable device for gaming, then it is not intended for mining.

Cheesy well dont you know if you mining both gpu and cpu, their 15w soc budget will suck each other, so i suggesting you mine only one of them,
chose what the most profitable cpu mining or gpu mining, and the ram its self quite sufficient bandwith 88gbps for gpu at max clock if cpu on stand by
be honest already mining from rtx 3060 on my laptop before eth move to pos, and the profit its almost paid the laptop itself Grin only for 5months

Cheesy Cheesy have you seen his device? I uploaded his picture again.

Of course, I can understand the desire to mine on any equipment when the profit is 3-4 dollars on the latest video card, but now this is not relevant due to the large amount of equipment on the market.

i do have one and move to ally, because seems better deal in my country has authorized seller, well deck its self basically only few country can claim warranty yes?
and from benchmark this one i decided to sell it way, the cpu lack of power. this the lates pic before i sell it away. the efficiency quite ok in lower wattage

he can mine on toilet basically anywhere, for learning, isnot about relevant or not, people need some spark to enjoy the full party, back then in 2014 i only had single tahiti gpu, and i knew it can make fortune from zero
without any capital. today its seem different  Grin but sometimes the jokes became reality like memes  Cheesy its fun ride

It about can vs should. You can mine with almost anything but it doesn't mean you should. Most people get interested in mining
to make a quick buck, so when they ask if they can they are really asking if the can make a quick buck.

The answer to that question is an clear no.

There was no mention of learning by the OP, just an interest in the next bull.

You can still mine on Radeon HD 7000 series video cards, but it will be unprofitable due to the high power consumption.AMD Radeon HD 7970 or 7990 can mine some coins, but I have not seen mining on such gaming consoles.
