Selling bitcointalk account is allowed? If not, the post should not be deleted?

What I have said in the title. Selling bitcointalk account is allowed here?

Yes, we all don't like the seller, Once they make a bitcointalk account selling post, we create a scam accusation or tag him instantly. But I wonder if it's not allowed here, why do moderators not delete their selling posts?  Where it's directly related to the bitcointalk itself.

I know mod does not moderate scams. But account selling is directly related to bitcointalk. So should not be the selling post deleted (if it's not allowed)?

For example, user AccountsLegend recently made an account selling post here , I curiously visit his account and see out of 17 topics that he made 16 topics are about selling bitcointalk account. People tagged them, but the post and his other contact address are still there.


So if it's allowed then ok, just ignore this topic. But if it's really not allowed, I think those topics should be deleted as spam posts get deleted.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember that selling account here is NOT against the forum rules. But the act of account selling is not ethical and doesn’t condone by DT which is why DT tag the account seller with negative feedback. DT system is not controlled by admin and this is the only solution made by DT to counter this account selling issue which often result to spam and scam.

I'm surprised that you, as Legendary, don't know. However, selling accounts is allowed for at least two reasons:
* if it would be disallowed, the sellers would simply sell somewhere else
* this is a free (speech) forum

However, buying and selling accounts is seen as shady, hence those caught doing this are getting tagged.

Account sale are legal but discouraged. There are no specific rules and the moderators cannot take an action.

This leaves the community to make the decision of tagging users who are involved in account sales.

We don't moderate account sales, the only exceptions would be hacked accounts. Other than that, account selling is a matter that the trust system caters for. If you suspect a user of selling a compromised account however, report it, and we can take a look into it. Selling accounts that a user has made themselves isn't against the rules of the forum, at least one's which are followed by the moderation policy. However, it's become a unwritten rule among the community that it's frowned upon.

Its seem not first time for the name mention by OP about account selling created in Service board, many time I saw he tries selling Bitcointalk account with variety levels. I think is not allowed for selling account but in several local board have topic or board discussing about selling items but there not allowed with selling Bitcointalk account. I think many user know risk and selling Bitcointalk account not allowed, need bot detected did by moderator when finding topic or board publishing with selling Bitcointalk account.

As a suggestion, in the past years TryNinja's website has returned much better search results on bitcointalk than google. At least for me.

In regulation number (18) I take a concrete example that reads.
Prohibited recreation rules:

Meaning: If anyone is determined to swim in the lake then do it at their own risk, because without us realizing it and seeing that in the lake there are many crocodiles, snakes, blondes and so on, it is very possible that it can harm the swimmers themselves.

Point: if someone still insists on selling the account, if one day it will be known, of course there is a risk that both the buyer and the seller accept.

Mod, can't prevent users from selling accounts, buyers should be aware, if they buy a high-risk account, chances are the account can no longer be used, with various reasons to be marked red paint.

The risk of loss is greater on the part of the buyer.

It was the same thing I wondered....
Way back when I had 'em rules that account sales isn't permitted,I thought about it deeply... Why should these post be left until now?? ...and I've been seeing other threads about it( cus people actually made references to it almost everytime)... why's that?..
Account sales are allowed, but frowned at.. the reasons -- atleast the way I seem to see -- should be that THEYMOS himself isn't a biased type, he tries as much as possible to make the forum comfortable for everyone, giving everyone the opportunity to be relevant in here.... but 'em DT squad won't let anyone get away with a hacked or purchased account.....never!!

It's not Mods who have a say in this it's Theymos and the last time he touched this subject (as far as I know) his opinion was that even if we would attempt to cut on these kinds of trading happening on the forum they will just move over in private deals, so, there you have it. And from the number of accounts we run into every day that have changed from speaking perfect English over a long break of a few years to being active only on local sub-forums, I'm pretty sure a lot of them those deals are indeed not happening through opened topics.

Besides, when you say these harm Bitcointalk directly, so do HYIP schemes as obviously it's going to be forum members who get tricked but we still have a section full of them.

I agree with your opinion, and it is true that the account buyer will simply be at more risk than the seller. No one really knows what accounts that were sold violated because buyers usually don't do due diligence, and some of them get banned for plagiarism.

Account sales are allowed; but it is not liked because of the many cases of fraud and hacking of accounts that are sold. Besides, most of those accounts will only be used to increase spam on the forum, ^{[obviously not liked by the community].} Whether bitcointalk is detrimental or not really depends on what the purpose of using the account is, but whatever reason, many furum members, especially DT, don't like this movement.

If we go back in principle, there is no real difference between a newbie account and a legendary. There are minor differences in terms of restrictions on creating posts and photos, which can be bypassed by purchasing a copper membership or contributing some effective posts and a little waiting.

Therefore, most of those who want to buy accounts are either to participate in signature campaigns or any activity that generates income for them because of the membership of those accounts.
When you buy an account, you will not be banned, but you will get a negative trust that prevents you from making income with the account.

As for the ownership of the posts, it is not for the forum but for the individual. I remember a few months ago that someone bought an account, but he was banned because he committed plagiarism, and when he was informed that he had bought the account, the ban was lifted. (Please someone correct me or give topic ID I cant remember it)

I can't remember if this has happened before, but I haven't come across a case like this in the last few months or I may have missed it.

Ban should still be possible because the account did something against the rules if done before the hack. It's a different matter if the hacker commits plagiarism so that the account is banned, while the main owner who succeeds in proving ownership of the account also succeeds in convincing the moderator that the plagiarism was carried out by the hacker, not him. In cases like this, the owner deserves unbanned and his account back.

Then report them for being spam. Opening a sales thread is allowed, opening many of them isn't. So report them for being duplicates, and report the account sales threads on the Services board for being on the wrong board.
He now has 17 topics, I'll leave the reporting to you. See if you can make it 10 less.

Just like with the purchase of accounts, based on the phrase "execution cannot be pardoned,"  there is no clear understanding of what will happen next if the account is purchased. Are we actively tagging these accounts? There is a lot of evidence that there was a change in language, the quality of the language, or a temporary break, but many accounts continue to live quietly on the forum. Does that mean you can buy it?
Does it matter if the account was hacked and got a different owner, or if the account was bought? The owners themselves can come up with any fairy tale. And it is precise because many accounts that have clearly changed owners go unpunished because DT has yet to decide whether to mark them negatively or not that such confusion arises and accounts continue to be purchased.

The forum rules are clear that buying and selling accounts are not prohibited. Such activities are only discouraged. It means people can do this but the forum including admins, staffs and members don't like this activity.

Because from account exchanges, there will be more consequent bad things to happen. Launching scam projects. Asking for non-collateral loan and run away. Joining bounties or signature campaigns with low quality posts that contribute to spam in the forum.
