I will like to ask OP have you done an analysis on this matter before coming to this strong conclusion. The fact the few persons you know as gamblers find it difficult to save isn't enough reason to generalise that all gamblers find it difficult to save. Saving is a thing of personal discipline, Even business gurus can become victims too. I believe gamblers like everyother person do save except i see a proven analysis from a large gambling sample to prove otherwise.

As regards gamblers helping their families i will still say it is based on discipline. Giving is a gift irrespective of how the money is gotten. I think gamblers who finds it difficult to help their families most times are addicts who gamble all they have and at the end of the day they lose everything and nothing to remit to their families. But for responsible gamblers majority of them take their families in high esteem.

Doesnt need some analysis because it is really just a common sense approach on where presuming out that most gamblers doesnt really have a savings.We do know that we cant just make out some conclusions without any basis in regarding on how much money they do own and saving up.Its a personal thing that cant really be known since its internal. Most likely people would be affecting out their savings on the time that they had get addicted with gambling.This is where people do usually fall downon doing so.

I am a gambler myself. I have savings, I have investments, and I have my finances sorted out. Never had any problems with me gambling uncontrollably or impulsively. Always know my priorities and what I need to focus on even though I regularly gamble. It all depends on the person's discipline. If a gambler has savings and investments, you can surely depend on him to continue being disciplined and committed to doing what he needs to do and only see gambling as a way to entertain himself.

I assume that's your impression of gamblers because you never really met responsible gamblers, don't judge some of them who have prominent businesses, check the people that are going to physical casinos many of them are prominent businessmen.

He is probably talking about his experience in his country Nigeria wherein the average monthly salary is around $700 and most likely, those below or in the poverty line is not even making that kind of money and most likely they are the one who are into gambling most and so they don't have money to save.

In any case, it's really hard to save money even if you are not into gambling. Even here, if you are making above average salary after you pay taxes and settled all the bills you have nothing left to put it in a bank, base on my personal experience.

Everyone should have savings especially gamblers. There's so much pros to having savings. For example, it can act as a can safety net when emergencies come up. I'm addition, if you save you will be conscious when you gamble, so as not  to all it negatively impact your financial stability. Additionally, having savings can allow you to set aside money specifically for gambling, rather than using funds intended for other purposes. Maintaining a budget and only gambling with money that you can afford to lose can help minimize the risk of financial harm.

Savings is the idea of holding back something for security and planning on a future day.   It also requires that security is available in order to be confident of saving.   I'd say alot of people in the world anywhere any country lack security and that planning in foresight, they spend as they get it and hope to piece things together that way.  It can work out if you are young and capable, you can spend everyday and advance in your career or prospects so that more money is always available in future then you had previously.
   Not everyone believes in saving, I would suggest all gamblers can benefit from planning and allocation of funds over at least a week time scale.  Dont spend it all at once, keep some back is likely a beneficial strategy for everyone.

The problem why most gamblers doesn't have savings at all is because of their priorities, and their way of thinking. Saving for me isn't a priority as my main priority as of this moment is to invest and invest, but I'm not setting aside saving since I'm still saving money.

Like you, I also sort my finances so that I will not be having a hard time when the worst thing comes (like financial problem etc.), but for most of the gamblers, they don't think about it because the only thing that they have in their mind especially the addicted ones is to just gamble and gamble. Disciplined gamblers are the ones that has savings, and investments maybe.

Even if gamblers knew that most likely they will get from that fund to satisfy their gambling needs and this is the nature of a gambler,telling a gambler to save money is like to say to a prostitute to start having morals meaning it does not work like that.

If a gambler were to save money for a better tomorrow he would not be called a gambler but a wise investor,something a lot of people want to do yet very few achieve it.Gamblers gamble to make money fast and they don't think for long term.

In countries like Nigeria then it is even more emphasized as a phenomena due to this country from what I know and read being a poor one.

There is enough logic in your words. If a gambler could save a certain amount of money from winnings, gambling could become a respectable profession. When a gambler wins his gambling he immediately places more bets so that his money grows faster and most of the time there is a chance of losing. As a result, the gambler loses the strength of saving money again. Everything is possible if we can manage responsible gambling.

But sadly, they can't win every time they gamble because it will be determined by their luck which can't always be with them.
If they realize this, they won't play too hard and will try to chase that victory.
They can only try to enjoy every gambling game they play and if they can win, it is a bonus for them because their luck comes when they play gambling.
They can win big but not every day because many other people also have the same desire.

The answer should be obvious, they have gambling issues, the gamblers you are describing instead of putting their families first and giving them the best they could afford, saving and investing the majority of their spare money and then using whatever is left to gamble have their priorities all wrong.

They are giving way too much focus to gambling and as a result their families are suffering, however this situation is very volatile and it can not last for long, so they either change their ways or they risk losing their family.

exactly mate ,  the more they seek winning is the more losing they got and that is the sad reality in gambling , never commit in gambling if your pure intention is to get rich because you will only get the opposite part.
gamble with care and gamble with joy , so even if you lose at least you become happy.

Maybe gamblers in Nigeria are really addicted to gambling and they already feel that gambling is everything so anything will be done to be able to continue gambling without thinking about the risks and what will happen in the future.
Gambling addiction does have a bad impact on a person as the example you said that Nigerian gamblers cannot afford to have savings but can always have money to gamble.
If this is sustainable, in the future they will experience difficulties and feel really difficult if there are things or needs that require using quite a lot of money because they have no savings at all.
From this incident, we can take the bright side that even though we are already addicted to gambling, we must still set aside a little money to save so that if one day we have a problem, we can use the savings, especially if we are already married, it is important and mandatory for us to have sufficient savings.

I don't know how many gamblers you know in your country, I guess it's no more than some gambler friends you know. I don't expect you to generalize all gamblers without any savings, that must not be true because not all gamblers are financially bad.

I can say that some of the gambler friends I know are not financially struggling, but some are gamblers whose finances are not good. I just can't draw the average conclusion, but some gamblers fall into the financially distressed category. So it cannot be generalized that all gamblers have problems, especially financial ones. Some have savings, live in luxury, own houses, cars and more, while others only gamble and are unable to change their financial condition.

if they would rather gamble instead of using the money to feed their family, it looks like they are addicted. a lot of addicted gamblers could care less if they have savings or not, as long as they can satisfy their urge to gamble that is enough for them.

I don't believe that it's so peculiar to Nigeria, it's everywhere, and if one is infested with gambling addiction, then it becomes a problem. From what I've known and read about Nigerians, everyone does things just in any other country in terms of gambling as you can see lesser people being addicted and not saving, just as it could be seen everywhere in the world.

The solution remains that everyone that needs to gamble should be calculative as well. There is a certain money you budget for gambling daily, weekly or monthly if you must do it, not that you just gamble with any money you see in your pocket.

And this advice remains valid in every country where gambling is permitted without peculiarity.

I don't think the gamblers were not aware when they want to use their money, just like you, me and everyone else, money is really important and we will think twice before use it. Gamblers who spend a lot money or taking a loan are really dumb because they just take easy and think they can survive by become beggars. If you have a friend or someone which is an addict, it's better to stay away and abandon him. Otherwise they will ask money over and over with many excuses.
