I want to ask a question. And I need serious answer from this forum, and my question is WHY DOES A GAMBLER DON'T HAVE A SAVINGS.
In my country (Nigeria) there are many gamblers who don't have savings and it isn't help matters at all. Most of these gamblers can't afford for there families but they can afford money they will use to gamble. So why are they not having savings that they can use to help there families in time of lack. Like they said, we save money so money can save us tomorrow. But these gamblers doesn't know that.

I am a gamber and we are from the same country, but am saving, so I don't know why you said gamblers can't safe money.

The only thing I know is that addicted gamblers can't safe money, their is a diffence between gambler and addicted gambler. A addicted gamber can do everything possible to get money to gamble, they don't care selling their properties just to make money to gamble, they don't care taking loan just because they want to gamble. A gambler that can take loan just to gamble, how will they have savings? I believe if the are having savings, they will have used it and they won't have to take loan, but if they have used all their money to gamble and they believe the only option left is to take loan then they will go for it.

Anyone could really save and it is really just that there are people who are really that not good when it comes on making up decisions basing up on what they are currently dealing with.When it comes to savings then this is really a personal choice on which if you do know that you do have only that ample amount or just sufficient for you to live on with then it wouldn't really be that ideal if you do really be spending it up
into things specially gambling on where you could potentially put up the risk.There's no way that you could really be able to do it from time to time since each person does have their own

There are many things comes up to our mind if we think about it but For me it depends on the gambler itself if he/she addicted to gambling then we can say that they don't have any savings they don't have peace on mind cause if they are addicted and when they loss then for sure they are very hot-tempered small mistake goes big. The simplest and shortest answer is due to their addiction. Instead of feeding and meeting their obligations, they would rather choose the selfish route of personally satisfying their greed for their addiction in gambling. This definitely also affects ultimately their savings and emergency money, which is also the reason on why majority of gamblers are high on debt.

If you know someone who is a gambler, then now is the time to at least educate and support them in solving their addiction in this dangerous habit. Not only are they slowly destroying their lives, but they are also affecting the people around them.

The question OP asked is not applicable to all gamblers, there are some gamblers that have savings in they account and that savings is not gambling, when the gambling account has been exhausted they would not touched their savings account. Those gamblers are rare and they are very much disciplined. And they are not so much addicted to gambling. As I said it is not all gamblers that empty their account for gambling.

The only reason why I think someone will gamble  much to the level that he won't be having anything left for his family is just gambling addiction, if you are not addicted, then am sure we should be having limits when gambling and whenever the limit have been reach, we should try and stop gambling at that moment, but addicted gamblers don't really have limit, they stop gambling whenever they don't have money left with them. How will you have a family and you won't have a savings, I don't think that's really making any senses, incase of emergency what will you do?

Every gamblers are different so you can't be certain that once a person is gambler then he/she don't have savings. Because many gamblers are able to balance their finances, one for leisure and the other for important things and that includes their savings thus don't generalize.

I can only think of a gambler don't have savings if he/she is a compulsive gambler who can't control himself when already playing.

How do you know about it? Did you make a valid research by doing deep investigation of many gamblers in your country? Or did you use a specified study created by other?
If you did not do any research and it is just based on a small sample size (maybe few of your friends), then you cant say "many" or "most".
If you use a specified study, can you please share with us about the result of the study/research?
Anyway I do not doubt that there are some gamblers who do not care about their own families, such gamblers does exist but there are also some other gamblers who can manage their money wisely.

If a gambler can win big money he must think of doing something or try to contribute for the family. But he is more interested in increasing his capital. He generally thinks that when his capital increases, he will have the opportunity to earn more money from it. I agree with you. By trying to manage our money through saving money, we can start living frugally by not using that money for unnecessary things. And by saving anyway, we can start planning something that might change our lives.

Managing finances is very important if we want to achieve or change our lives for the better. And instead of using it to gamble, we can collect more money by saving it. And if we have used a lot of money for gambling, we can start to reduce it, and we just save the money while we tell ourselves that the money we save can bring a meaningful change to our lives. I think this question would have different answers from culture to culture. As far as I observe, people from rather rich and developed countries gamble for fun. Profits are seen as extra. They mostly enjoy the show so losing is part of the game.
But people from underdeveloped countries are completely different. They seek money, profit. They are more prone to addiction. Its all about how people struggle in life. Some people are cool headed. Some want quick bucks.

I don't think this correct and probably you haven't met enough gamblers. It's a very general statement that me and my friends would say is wrong. Already from a young age I have been saving money each month in a bank account. And once I started gambling I made sure that there is a clear split between my money. A portion of my money each month I set aside for saving, trading and gambling. Where saving is the saves form and I don't really take any risks, investing is much more risks and means that my money can be locked in for a year or two before it makes any return. And then there is the third form, gambling, I already know from the start that there is no guarantee to make a profit and a high loss of money could occur any time. My friends are very similar and wouldn't use all their savings for gambling one day.
