What would you do if your family spent more time on social media

Now we generally see that communication and social interaction in the family is not as warm as it used to be. This is inseparable from the development of today's increasingly modern era.

The birth of various kinds of social media that provide various kinds of rides, so that some family members are too busy with their own world (media), and this is what I'm currently experiencing.

What should I do to overcome a situation like this.

Maybe go to router settings and block the social media IPs.

It's unethical but internet addiction is real and sometimes you have to interrupt the supply for people to realize.

It all depends on their ages,if they are from 14 years below,I will stop their access to the internet. If they are 15 years above,I will let them be and only make sure that they are not misleaded by this social media activities and information. It is a free world and everybody needs freedom to do whatever they want.

Most of us are been addicted to the internet in one way or the other,since these days there are so many opportunities on the internet,on earning for yourself. Though,it is a waste of time on social media especially when it doesn't add any positive impact on you.

This...is actually not a bad idea. There is very little upside to social media to begin with. Yes, it's unethical to restrict people's choice in what they can or can't do...but it's not hard to find and resolve the issue. It's a good problem solving task for them at best. Maybe they'll learn a thing or two. I wouldn't do it personally. I wouldn't say it's the worst idea though. The only impractical part of it is that I am sure mobile data will quickly substitute for re-access

like you said it all depends on their ages, but people that can spend more time on the social media, are the children and we their mothers, not the men of the house who their only focus should be on how to provide for their family, so if my husband talks to me about my time on social media and I see reason with him, I will have to reduce it, because I am old enough to know what is good and wrong, but for the children, I will be monitoring them and give them time that they can spend on the internet, and try to be talking to them to know the disadvantages of spending too much time on social media, and I will engage them in other activities so they will be occupied.

Spending all your time on social media is not good and it can be good only based on your achievement in social media because some people do use a social media interaction as part of exercise and also a relief of pens so social media is not a place where you can consume all your time so I believe that many people also know that but that one to say write about it

Anything you are doing I think that should be a time Factor so and the time measurement so that you can be able to know your own barrier or your own area of a specification because been involved in social meson for long periods cannot contribute anything for somebody's life so I think that you are right in this particular aspect

The world has gone digital already, the use of social media has become a spec and entertaining, to me I don't see anything wrong with a family spending more time on social media, as they are doing it when they are less busy, we know there are so many disadvantages of social media though, but in the world today social media is really helping, even in times of education, life experience and etc,
Even some church activities are stream online on social media, as a person you can save yourself the stress of going to the church premises, you can just stay at home with your phone or laptop (social media) and attend church services..

I was really thinking this question would be centered to spending more time on our phones or labtop, because outside social media, there are a lots of achievement you can make with phone or labtop, so many firms or companies today mostly do their works with phones and labtop, because of the passing of information through Gmail and the companies WhatsApp group,

Social media has its benefits and disadvantages. There are some social media platforms that can enlighten thier users and make them get profitable information or knowledge. But the rate of social media addiction among mostly youths is becoming alarming. If your family members are below 16, it is important to monitor the way they access social media. If possible they should have restricted access to the internet.

The only way to reduce the rate of social media addiction among teenager that are above 16 is through education and awareness about the consequences of spending so much time on social media. This is because they can always look for ways to access these platforms even if you block these platforms in the router. They can be introduced to some other activities that can be beneficial such as learning a musical instruments or a new language.

Jabut! Think of all the movies that promote electronis interfacing with humans, like Alita Battle Angel, and Ghost in the Shell. Even Elon Musk is doing the brain/machine hookup thing.

It's so unrewarding to see all that, and to have to live a simple, boring life in the flesh. Me want more. Me want machine capabilities. Social media is the way to keep my excitement and hope strong.

Be attentive and talkative to them. That's all you need to do to naturally remove them from that chain of being focused in social media. It really consumes a lot of time and they're thinking that attention in the social media is the most important thing. They're building the thought that social attention through these media is what's going to make them satisfied but no. It's just a way to have social validation from the rest of the world that's also part of that social media. If the strategy won't work, I agree to the suggestion to force of blocking all of those websites just to control them temporarily. But I am sure that someday they'll realize that their lives shouldn't just rotate through social media and they have to remove those toxins from being addicted on it. Detoxifying it through being inactive is what they'll have as a resort.

Is simple to me, priorities in the family is very important. I guess they're not too engaged with other things because if you have engagement you may likely not have to much time for social media.

But in other scenario, if you're doing on social media is fetching family source of income, why not organized family internet culture to boost the efforts of what they're doing. If not please is simple make everyone to be engaged in doing something helpful out social media platform.

I like the Bitcointalk forum setup. You could start your own (and so could I) by downloading it from Simple Machines Forum, which is linked at the bottom of every Bitcointalk page. Social media is a very good place to be, especially when your cashing out money from it. But when you're not using it to make money none for reading then one has to be caution about it. Members of my family are very enlightening and they know when to pause and be active on the Media. But the Young ones we set time and date for them to use the social Media.

This is true, it all depends on age. I live in a very poor country, and I can say that my parents have only learned to use smartphones and social media for the past 2 years. For my children, I always have a schedule for them when it's school time, when it's playtime, and when to watch the phone or TV...But for my parents, I want them to spend more time on their phones and the internet because 2/3 of their lives don't have them, now is the time for them to enjoy and get whatever they want.

As the other members are saying, it depends on what their age is, if they're under 15 years old, you can just set a timer to limit them from using past midnight. Or, you can make use of that, maybe playing minecraft with your children or whatever they're doing, to have time with them.

It's not all about spending much time on social media, but what quality things have you got to show forth that is worth deserving your time on the social media, if by profession or means of income you earn something from the social media and you get loads of information and taughts from the time it's consuming from you, but nevertheless there's always a need to make a balance whereby that does not affect your home or marriage and family affairs.
