In true Valentine’s Day fashion, we’re diving into the theme of love…and crypto?

According to a new study by Binance, the world’s largest blockchain by trading volume, crypto could have a positive impact on one’s attractiveness. Yes, really.

Approximately 83% of participants said liking crypto was an “attractive feature in a relationship,” while 70% said they would be more inclined to go on a date with someone if they found out they were interested in crypto.

But only about 38% of those surveyed said their partner was equally as interested and passionate about crypto as they were, while 27% patted themselves on the back for introducing their significant other to the wild, wild world of web3.

This growing positive sentiment is in stark contrast to the overall gloomy market outlook; many cryptocurrencies are still down significantly year over year. But as some major cryptocurrencies have had a recent small bull run, like Bitcoin and Ether, up about 30% and 23% year to date, respectively, there is some newfound hope from market players across the industry.

And that confidence might be translating into Valentine’s Day gifts, too, according to the report. About 83% of respondents said they would prefer a “crypto gift card” over flowers or chocolate for the holiday.

In the U.S., Americans are planning to spend $25.9 billion on Valentine’s Day this year, up about 8% from $23.9 billion last year, according to a survey from the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics.

“Valentine’s Day is a special occasion to shop for the people we care most about,” Matthew Shay, NRF president and CEO, said in a statement. “This year, as consumers embrace spending on friends and loved ones, retailers are ready to help customers celebrate Valentine’s Day with memorable gifts at affordable prices.”

Based on the Binance report, those memorable gifts include buying crypto, too.

Of course, take these results with a big scoop of salt. The global survey, which was conducted earlier this month on Binance’s survey platform, had 2,600 respondents (both Binance users and non-users) ranging from 18 to 46 years old.

While that number doesn’t fully encompass the billions of people worldwide, it might be pointing toward an attitude shift for those looking to find love — or love those involved — in the crypto space.

While I was disappointed when I realized the best relationship advice many women received from their parents was to "marry a rich man". I can recognize the motives behind it and not fault the logic.

When I worked in a grocery store there was this old elderly couple who would regularly shop. One day out of nowhere the old woman blurted out: "never marry a handsome man, marry a rich man instead" while she paid her bill at the checkout line. Her husband stood right next to her, seemingly powerless to do or say anything. I felt so embarrassed for him. But I guess that is real life.

In my country we don't celebrate the valentine like the movie did, even though there are some people who celebrate it Chocolate is the option, but it is always good to see there is a trend to give Crypto Gift Card to their partners. Gift a crypto card maybe can push crypto adoption.

I am rather skeptical on this matter. I have seen these "studies" before and I have got the impression the sample of the population they use to survey may be biased in one way or another.  Would not these results imply that Bitcoin adoption is higher than we perceive usually?

It is another way to give money to your partner, and I think most people right now want it unless they already have money, as we really need it in our daily lives. There are also times when they prefer groceries or things that they can use or food rather than flowers. Though it still depends, there are still women who prefer the sign of love, like flowers, as it shows love. But yes, it was different than before since I noticed people are getting practical as flowers are very expensive to buy, so they should be bought for something else.

Nothing like dating a person who's net worth crashed 90% because of a scam coin or a bear market lmao.

I think it would mostly depend on the country though. With countries like the United States, crypto might be a turnoff because a lot of people look at it as a scam. Whereas with poorer countries, crypto might be an attraction because being an "investor" is something people perceive as high caliber.

Bitcoin becoming a pussy magnet. I can’t help but laugh out loud. Woman are attracted to gold, fast cars, fast house, fast foods, but to attract to bitcoin is a whole new level achievement unlocked. Nah I am not buying this theory that crypto makes you more attractive, at least not in my country. People that are into crypto are seen more like gamblers than a hotshot Wall Street brokers (that they might think they are) so I don't think that it would help you much attracting quality man/woman.

Keep in mind that survey was done on Binance and since we know that vast majority of crypto traders are men, it explains the results. Somehow I doubt that anything close to 83% of the women would think that crypto was “attractive feature in a relationship,”.

Crypto knowledge is still burgeoning in my country, and the knowledge of crypto is prevalent amongst the male folks than the opposite sex, thus whilst the male folks have an understanding of Bitcoin and other whatnots, the females do not so much, thus the only inkling they have about it is "scam", because they have seen some high profile cases of crypto losses, thus they definitely wouldn't want their partner to be involved in it.

Having said that, i have friends who hide their crypto activities from their wives and GF's because they would never approve of it, and despite how you would try to educate them on it, only "scam" comes to their mind. Crypto doesn't make one attractive in my own country, rather i'd say individuals who do 9-5 jobs are seen as being more attractive, they might not be making adequate funds, but people view that group as being more financially responsible than someone who is into cryptocurrencies.

It is true that in 2017 many people are allergic to bitcoin because scammers and hyip of crypto projects also slipped during these times. But as time goes by, the wind blows differently.

     It's just like my cousin who told me that bitcoin was a scam that year but when bitcoin hit 20k$ each, he suddenly chatted with me via messenger about how to make money with bitcoin because he knew that I was focused here in this industry, but despite that he still does not stay here because he has no passion for it so he did not stay long.

He didn't like it before because it wasn't attractive, but suddenly he liked it because he saw money, but he didn't feel true love...

From the outside looks you are probably looks good but never they did know that maybe you are - 80 to 90% down on your portfolio doesnt make you really attractive plus the one who will be are those gold diggers that thinking you migt buy them expensive bags and clothes when you do shopping. I don't know when this story happened, but it reflects what's happening in today's society. Many people say that money can't buy happiness, it can be said that was only true in the past, and it is no longer true compared to now, without money no girl will accept you. Like the survey, cryptocurrency makes us more attractive simply because people know the returns it brings to those who invest in it. Girls or boys are looking in your pocket to choose a lover.

In my understanding, these people should be as anonymous as possible; that is, they should keep the specifics of their interests under lock and key. Not everyone knows about cryptocurrency yet, so anyone who has a good knowledge about cryptocurrency and people around know that person is good in cryptocurrency, it gives the individual a level of importance having a knowledge that not everyone possess. As for involvement in cryptocurrency boosting sexual appeal and attractiveness, I will say it depends on what the person who is picking up the appeal or attraction is attracted to, If the person is drawn an attracted to people with knowledge and seen as intelligent, then they will be attracted to you, but if the person's attraction is strictly based on looks and you are not blessed with that, just forget about your cryptocurrency knowledge.

If cryptocurrency is booming in your country and many people know already about its existence and have positive acceptance then it could bring additional attractiveness since for sure many people will think about that a person who's link in crypto especially if they know that he is veteran is a wealthy man. Money attracts people so I guess its the same with traditional money where if they know you are rich they think you are good. Its just people will be attracted to you if they think they can get something to you so maybe this is one of the reason why surveys say positive about it.

I wouldn't say yes as a response to this because all that women want is not the profession or means that brought in money for men, they need someone who is rich enough to pay all their bills as arising, here they will prefer someone who has a stable income, business or profitable assets, being into cryptocurrency may not really be a criteria since someone can be into crypto and be stingy or bad mannered, but women want someone to take their full responsibility, spend tirelessly and give to them, but there's no doubt that what's trending in the society today is all about cryptocurrency and those into it being believed to be among the top rated rich citizens.

Well fuck yes I'd prefer whatever it is that qualifies as a crypto gift card over those other lame-ass choices (if I had a Valentine, which I don't and it's sad).  But I'm not sure what's meant by that term anyway.  A gift card is a gift card, no?  A card with a seed phrase is a gift of crypto but isn't a "gift card".

These articles drive me nuts in their stupidity, and I'm not just being bitter about lack of love this time of year.  This is Yahoo news for christ's sake, so you know they're just scraping the literary barrel for stuff that will appeal to their readers.  I wonder if bitcoin hadn't rebounded to >$20k if they would have published this.  I doubt it, but my cynicism as regards mainstream media knows no bounds.

I can imagine that being a really early bitcoin adopter certainly makes you attractive to young, hot women but maybe not for the right reasons.

Always go for girls who are smart & have a good personality. Good looks are a bonus but they don’t last forever. A good personality is part of a long standing relationship.
