So there's this bitcoin testnet faucet, which I believe has been around for some years now, that started to display some scam ads (or maybe this is the first time I'm noticing it):

Code:
https://bitcoin-miner-pro.financial-marketsworld.com/

And I must say, this is the last place I expected to see such ads.

It's unlikely that the visitors of the site would fall for this (since I would guess that they are primarily developers) but still, I thought I'd share.

I don't see a big issue with this, especially when we know that g00gle is doing worse things with their ads for years.
This is the first time I heard about this Bitcoin testnet faucet, but I can see they are using some affiliate id links starting with tracking.affid21221il.
They are probably earning tiny amount of money for this, but it pays for domain and they probably don't care what is shown in this ads.

If it would be some ad banner, I wouldn't blame them for it. Usually owner of website don't have much control over what is shown there. But as I understand, owner of this faucet put this advertisement himself and it rotates together with ''Automated Cryptocurrency Trading Software'' - another scam probably.
I don't see big issue there. Not good, but we see scam advertisements at every corner. Testnet faucet isn't business, but you still need money for hosting and domain. But it's probably possible to get it by advertising something legit.

I noticed their traffic has been significantly dropping the past few months perhaps it was part of the reason, if this was a recent change, that is. Putting disclaimers similar to what the forum does could be a middle ground approach but I could see why they won't care...

More particularly, a text ad. Like what is shown in etherscan ads iirc. Probably the site owner uses an ad service, with that kind of link uBlock or even other ad blocker (hopefully) warns user when clicking such link.

There is another ad being displayed there, seems like the same owner as ID match:

Code:
SubCampaignID=24683&NetworkID=1&OfferID=899
SubCampaignID=24683&FID=&NetworkID=1&OfferID=2687

same fishy domain:
Code:
the-bitcoin-freedom.financial-marketsworld.com

Looking at the bright side seems like they are not managing to scam that many since they have resorted to a subdomain and can't afford to spend money each time domain for each of their scammy websites. Oh, seems like there are a lot more, there are also

Code:
the-bitsoft360-app-com.financial-marketsworld.com
immediateedgepro.financial-marketsworld.com

I wonder what advertiser is this, we could report this directly.

PS.
I think that today they got more clicks on that ad than in an entire month.   Grin

This is the problem of most cheap faucets in that they place advertisements for any platform, even if it is a scam, in exchange for the team of this scam platform paying them advertising fees, and the visitors and users of the faucet site are the potential victims of these malicious ads, so every beginner should stay away from using these faucets or clicking on the ads that they place so as not to lose his money, as the return that they will get from these faucets is very weak compared to the risk that they will be exposed to.

Even now, and not only on faucets sites, there are also many malicious scam ads, even in search engines such as Google, in forums, in mobile applications, on social media, and everywhere, so care must be taken before believing and trusting these ads.

How did you find the ads banner?
It seems on my side it doesn't show any ads maybe the website owner is also here on the forum and found this thread?

After checking the source code of the page it looks like it isn't a google ads but the ads came from infolinks.com this advertising company usually promotes gambling sites and skin care based on my past experienced.

I think you can report this to support@infolinks.com about the scam ads.
