You can not call them as scam.

They made announcements a few times about their closing and you have enough time to withdraw your funds on LocalBitcoins to your wallet or to other platforms.

You are no longer allowed to trade on LocalBitcoins but you are able to withdraw your coins.
Quote
After 2023-02-17 LocalBitcoins customers will only be able to log-in to withdraw their Bitcoins. The trading and Wallet services will no longer be available at this point.

You will have one (1) year to withdraw bitcoins from your LocalBitcoins account after the service has been closed
Quote
How much time I have to withdraw my bitcoins.

By our terms of service agreement, we promise that you will have one (1) year to withdraw bitcoins from your LocalBitcoins account after the service has been closed. This means you can withdraw your bitcoins until 16th of February 2024. However, we recommend that you withdraw your balance as soon as possible.

They promised like above but you can withdraw your Bitcoin sooner than 1 year. Don't leave your coins there too long and longer than what you should.

The Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts is not too old and still applicable.

If you made fraudulent activities on their platform, they have rights to terminate your accounts. Terms of service

But why do you wait till now to complain about it?

If they did not lift termination/ suspension against your account, you perhaps did not provide enough reasons and evidence to them to give you a second chance.

Quote
Limitation, Suspension, and Termination of Your User Account

Occasionally situations arise where we may need to limit, suspend, or terminate your account. Account limitation results in a temporary or permanent loss of access to a certain specific part or parts of our Services. Account suspension results in a temporary loss of access to most parts of our Services. Account termination results in permanent loss of access to all Services.

As a result of limitation, suspension or termination your access to and the withdrawal of bitcoins that you have in your LocalBitcoins wallet may be delayed or denied. If there are bitcoin transactions made to the wallet addresses associated with your terminated or deleted account after the termination or the deletion, LocalBitcoins has no obligation to return the bitcoins and you agree that the bitcoins become the property of LocalBitcoins.

We have the right to limit, suspend, or terminate your account or access to our Services if:

  • we have a reason to believe that you have acted in violation of these Terms of Service or applicable laws or regulations or if we have a reason to believe that any content or material submitted or shared by you in or through the Services violates these Terms of Service or applicable laws or regulations or third party rights;
  • we suspect that you use the Services to engage in, attempt to engage in, or in connection with fraudulent activity, money laundering, terrorist financing or other financial crime;
  • we have not been able to verify your identity or we have reason to believe that you have supplied false, misleading or deceptive information in connection with your registration, identity verification, trades or any other use of our Services, either to us or to another user;
  • we are required to do so under any applicable law, regulation or an order issued by an authority or court;
  • make available content or behave in a way that libels, defames, invades privacy, stalks, is obscene, pornographic, racist, abusive, harassing, threatening or is offensive;
  • if you use the Services in a manner which may cause the Services to be interrupted or damaged or such a way that the functionality of the Services is in any way impaired or attempt to bypass or break any security mechanism of the Services or if LocalBitcoins believes in good faith that such action is reasonably necessary to protect the security of its Services or its property or brand or the security, property and rights of its users or those of third parties;
  • attempt any unauthorized access to user accounts or any part or component of the Service.
We will give you a notice of any limitation, suspension, or termination of your account but we may, if it is reasonable to do so (for example we consider it advisable for security reasons), limit, suspend or terminate your account without prior notice to you.

You acknowledge that our decision to limit, suspend, or terminate your account, may be based on confidential criteria that are essential to our risk management and security protocols and that we are under no obligation to disclose the details of our risk management and security procedures to you unless otherwise provided by the Privacy Policy.

In the event that we limit, suspend or terminate your account we will lift the suspension as soon as possible once the reasons for the suspension or termination no longer exist.

I saw you created 3 threads about LocalBitcoins, two are scam accusations. Duplicating threads is not allowed in forum.
birthday of the scammer Vladislav Alimpiev (of the fraud company localbitcoins)
Office of the fraud company localbitcoins.com

It's enough, don't create more threads about same issue.
12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting topics in the local language boards if they're translated and re-posting marketplace topics in the altcoin boards if altcoins are accepted).

Can you share proof that you can’t access your funds to withdraw because you are only giving this kind of accusation despite this announcement happened few weeks ago. You can screenshot your account that shows it’s really frozen so that we can have a solid proof.

If this true, I think all affected user will be posting on social media which I didn’t see except for your post. BTW they don’t have any official account here and no one will give you details to dox the owner.

But why do you wait till now to complain about it?

He made a bunch of posts about it. But since LBC is licensed by FIN-FSA https://www.finanssivalvonta.fi/en/ they have to follow certain rules.
The OP instead of filing a report with them just came here and started calling them frauds and scammers instead of going though proper channels.

Since out of millions of transactions over a decade there are not a significant number of complaints that don't go back to the user being the one at fault it's not something anyone was putting a lot of time into following.

The argument you are trying to make here does not seem sufficient to describe this platform as a fraud, they have been working for a long time and there are not many complaints proving that they are fraud so either you have ignored their terms of use or something has gone wrong.

we cannot help you, only support team can do, so contact them quickly, because the number of employees will be greatly reduced.
As for your friend being scammed, it depends on the method of trading, because you are trading P2P, if you do not understand what you are trying to trade with, you may end up being scammed.

to me

Hi,

A customer may contact FIN-FSA about a practice of an entity supervised by FIN-FSA that the customer deems to be contrary to the rules or otherwise worthy of censure. All correspondence is recorded and FIN-FSA may at its discretion take the issues raised in correspondence into account in its supervisory activities.

Correspondence addressed to FIN-FSA may be free form and should clearly express at least the following information

The supervised entity, in other words the service provider whose operations it concerns

An explanation of the business practice or operations in question

The grounds on which the writer deems the practice or operations to be contrary to the rules or otherwise worthy of censure

Whether the issue is also pending or being handled elsewhere (for example by the Finnish Financial Ombudsman Bureau or by some other board or court) and

The writer's contact information (name, address, telephone number and email address, if available).

Generally, correspondence addressed to FIN-FSA is public, except for information contained within that is confidential by law (for example a person's state of health, status as a job applicant or salary information). The supervised entity may also be informed of the correspondence. FIN-FSA publishes information on its activities and supervisory measures on its website. It is also important to remember that correspondence or other contact with FIN-FSA is not the equivalent of an appeal, as prescribed by legislation, nor does it have the effect of extending the appeal time mentioned in the appeal instructions.

Correspondence should be addressed to FIN-FSA's Registry, in one of the following ways

by post to: Financial Supervisory Authority, Registry, P.O. Box 103, 00101 Helsinki, Finland

by email to: registry(at)fiva.fi

by fax to: +358 9 183 5328.

For reasons of information protection, we do not recommend that correspondence be sent by email if it contains confidential information.

Letters may also be delivered by hand to the Financial Supervisory Authority.

The reception point for incoming post is situated in the inner yard of Rauhankatu 19. Admission to the inner yard is by the alley between Rauhankatu 19 and Rauhankatu 17 (National Archives / Kansallisarkisto), which has a gate in front of it. You can open the gate by contacting the Bank of Finland's Security Office using the intercom on the gatepost. After the gate, at the end of the alley, there is a glass-walled lift structure. You can call the lift using the intercom mounted beside the lift.

Kind regards,

If they were currently in the process of shutting down the service I think they'd focus more on settling withdrawals as well as resolving user disputes. Try to create a new complaint ticket to supports. At least the next one is your last chance, don't be rude.

How much is the amount closed in your account? What was the response using support ticket?
LBC has been operating for a while and it has been trying to close its doors, so communicating with the authorities may take a lot of time, and given that you have a one-year barrier before accounts are deleted or the ways to access your account are complicated, the legal path may be long, costly and take a lot of time.

you can read them trustpilot, only few of them was scam related to LBC and mostly to second party ----> https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.localbitcoins.com?stars=1

Sorry to hear this, OP. I have had nothing but positive experiences with LBC myself. I bought from them regularly in 2016 & 2017, I never had a problem. I’m sad they are stopping trading. No business lasts forever though.

I hope you can resolve this issue.

LBC has my bitcoins, but put me on forced holiday? Is this they way the get away with their scam?
https://localbitcoins.com/service_closure/

Does anybody knows where the main scammer Vladislav Alimpiev is hiding?

When I try to withdrawal my BTC, LBC is saying I can send maximum: 0 BTC

Have you reached out to LocalBitcoins customer support regarding the frozen funds in your account? It seems like there may be more to the story than you are sharing. As some users have noted, LocalBitcoins reserves the right to terminate accounts for illegal or fraudulent activity on their platform.

I don't see any proper proof being provided by OP to call Localbitcoins a scam or a fraud. A scam accusation must be presented with ample sources proving a potential scam attempt or any reasoning must be presented with valid details and resources.

I remember when there were no exchanges offering P2P services like today, and I used to use Localbitcoins for converting my Bitcoins to my local currency, and never in my experience of two years, I've faced any kind of issues, never with escrowed funds, never with account balance, not even with withdrawals. I wouldn't believe anyone making baseless accusations without any proper proof against them.

I don't think that after so many years of good and loyal service Localbitcoin is a scam company.
I looked at the topic you opened, you didn't provide any real evidence.

I don't deny in any way that you are having problems with them, but I think you have to be patient. They are currently understaffed because as everyone knows, they are stopping down their business.

I don't think a company that is regulated in the EU and operates with the necessary licenses can really do an exit scam. Consequences would be crazy for them, and everyone is able to find them physically if they really want to. You can create as many alts as you want, I think it will take strong and irrefutable evidence to get the community to accept that Localbitcoin are scammers.

Have you had any recent feedback from them? Why go straight to the point of screaming scam like that? It won't get you your money back. I honestly think that if there was a Localbitcoin’s exit scam, we would have hundreds/thousands of feedbacks in that direction. For the moment we can't say that there are many...

In any case, I wish you good luck with the recovery of your funds, I'm sure you'll get them back one day if you haven't done anything shady with them

What do you think holds absolutely no weight to the matter. It's just your opinion.

Ridiculous. I have to be patient? You sound silly and patronizing.
I wasted my time for weeks with their useless support before bringing this matter to the public.
You sound like an incredible satisfied customer or a paid shiller.

MTGox was regulated and everyone was able to find Mark Karpeles physically. No one hurted him. Cmon, don't bring silly arguments.

I'm not screaming anything. I bring the matter to the public: LocalBitcoins.com is doing anything in their power to scam my funds. Recent feedback? This morning, after weeks of being fooled around with their useless support.
I also linked them my thread.

You are ridiculous to imply that if I don't got my money back must be that I did something shady.
This is an idiotic statement. You should be ashamed of yourself to attack the victims of this scummy company.

Yes you're right, but if you don't care about other's opinion, then you shouldn't post your story on a public forum.

Nope, I was a satisfied customer but I don't do any business with Localbitcoin since 2020. I was not a big fan of their website from a personnal point of view.

I've worked for the 2 biggest CEX and am actually working on European cryptos regulations. I can confirm that if a CEX regulated in EU is exit scamming, the business owner will have some serious troubles. Even Binance (which is the least regulated CEX actually) is regulated in France for example, you cannot escape regulations if you are operating in EU. And if you are regulated, you did provide a lot of informations about yourself, your company and your employees. And with these informations shared, what are you going to do as a exit scammer ? Spend your stolen BTC in Antartica ?  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Weeks is nothing when you are talking with a closing company, especially in the crypto area.

If you are talking to them like you talk to me, I think they will appreciate the fact of giving you difficulties before returning your funds. Some customer support agents doesn't appreciate mono-maniacs and aggressive customers.

And yeah, FYI, on a exchange, frozen assets are not randomly frozen, it is normaly never done for free  Wink

I dont' care about YOUR silly opinion. You are a troll and a shiller. Maybe not a LCB shiller, but for sure a paid shiller for " Sherbet.com". You claim it is  "The #1 Social Casino & Sportsbook" and you included the logo and the links of this website all over your profile.

For sure. 2 biggest unnamed CEX.

Probably you never head about XMR (Monero) or other means to launder coins.

Weeks is nothing, I disagree. I think that weeks are enough to bring the matter publicly.

Dumbass. You are the first one that you are patronizing, trolling and insulting (now even insults like "mono-maniacs") people here and acting as a victim after your attacks. My complaint against LCB was described in a very calm manner. Your trollish and provocative comments against me (ad hominem) deserved to be deleted, at least. Now go shilling elsewhere, you are embarrassing your shilling company "Sherbet.com".
