An interesting part of Bitcoin history is a scam attempt of Roger Ver team in 2017. Their team attempted to claim that their coin is a real Bitcoin and they tried to scam people on their website. Has Bitcoin.com stopped presenting Bitcoin Cash as the real Bitcoin? To newcomers: make sure when you buy bitcoin you are buying bitcoin!I looked at your Twitter with some photos that show about Mt.Gox. I did not see any blue print of your book and I don't know you had Roger Ver team scam attempt in your book or forgot about it. 2 cents to share.

You have shared a tweet link where you were asking for a $2 donation (or charge) from people to get their name on the book. You are writing the history, how would you name anyone in the book? And what if there are 500 people? You will write the history or names of people? The amount is so small but still, it doesn't look any better than a donation begging. You are an old member of the forum. I always have some soft corners in my mind for the old users of the forum because you are the reason we have this beautiful place. I'm sad you are linking this in your post.

Sorry you feel that way inclined. I have been part of the crypto space for 10 years. I have participated by writing crypto history books for moderate and smaller projects since 2014. I want to write something special and informative for the Bitcoin community. It will help newbies discover what has happened since inception in 2008. I hope you don't see it as begging. I seek to include members of the community in the effort (by small donations) to complete the book to the best of my ability. Thank you for replying
Besides, I have devoted countless hours to the Bitcoin and crypto space over 10 years. I am not seeking to scam anyone x [moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]

Why should the book be without the Roger Ver drama? The BCH and BSV debacles are one of the biggest swindling attempts in the entire Bitcoin space; it should definitely be added in.

Initial Bitcoin history research is complete! Currently writing the first draft of a 300+ A4 page Bitcoin history paperback/hardcover book for tentative release in late 2024/early 2025. It will be a detailed and thorough account of important Bitcoin milestones since August 2008 (when the www.bitcoin.org website was registered). I am determined to include as much information relating to Bitcoin as possible. Please retweet and like the following tweet, and consider supporting the project: https://twitter.com/CryptoBooksAlt/status/1627254082925723648As a community, I hope to gain your support and confidence. Thank you Writing a historical book is not an easy task, especially in this current economic reality where many things tend to distract the mind. I want to encourage you to keep on doing your best to ensure that this book comes to reality. It seems that your intentions are good because you want to keep the story of bitcoin alive. You have my support and if the book is completed please ensure you inform the community so that we can grab copies of this historical book. I pray that you have access to all the materials that you need to make this uncommon task successful. For now, I wish you all the best.

I will join those who don't understand why their name should be published in your book even if they donate $2? Would these names be in the sense of something like "special thanks to the members of the bitcointalk forum for their support in writing the book", or in some other context? There were definitely members on the forum who are worth mentioning in the book, and there are also those who are active today, and I hope that they will be mentioned without donating anything.
What I also don't like are the hashtags you use in your post, because what does your Bitcoin book have to do with all those altcoins you're indirectly promoting?

Yeah, I'm cool with everything else except the altcoin hashtags. Not that I'm uncool with it, either, it just rubs off the wrong way. Bitcoin clones, Litecoin, even Ethereum might be worth mentioning if related to, in the book itself, but xrparmy especially made me cringe.
Still, credit where it's due. Books aren't... simple tasks to complete. Best of luck.

It was a decent move imo. While the hashtags are unrelated, it gives good visibility for the tweet. Don't forget that while you like it or not, a good chunk of people who follow those hashtags could be interested in such books as well.

Maybe they would be interested, but maybe not - because I doubt that people who are mostly deeply immersed in altcoins have the slightest desire to study the history of Bitcoin. If we're going to be honest, for many, the history of Bitcoin only begins at the end of 2017, when Bitcoin actually entered the mainstream. I can't say for sure, but it seems that I read on the forum a few years ago that someone had a similar idea as the OP, so although I have nothing against people writing books, a good part of the history of Bitcoin is also contained on this forum. In any case, I hope that the book will not promote things that have nothing to do with Bitcoin, as is usually the case nowadays.

if you included all networks that pretended to be bitcoin. your book would be 3000 pages long
i know you dont want to publish it for review because you want people to buy the book to read it.. but how about a chapter list with a summary/exert per chapter to see if your book is atleast on the right lines
main things to have (not exact order, just going by memory)
satoshis whitepaper, satoshis first block (genesis(going live)) and first payment to another dev(hal) first difficulty change (competition ramps up) -which causes cost increase(first signs of price discovery) bitcoin pizza deal first exchange change of lead maintainer. satoshi-gavin first ATH first legal merchants -alpaca socks -bitcoin cupcakes new features like multisig -allowing for multi party 'trusts'/'joint account' concepts change of regulatory view (legally recognised as currency) first halving second ATH some exchange drama (mtgox) change of lead maintainer. gavin-wlad some core drama some softening of consensus core contentions drama more features added change of regulatory view (legally recognised as asset currency) some core drama -legal disputes (scammers vs bitcoin influencers) change of regulatory view (legally recognised as commodity currency) -legal disputes (scammers vs bitcoin influencers) more softening of consensus a [feature/flaw] added core contentions drama

Thank you for the list of milestones. I’m aware of most of them, but others I haven’t heard about. I’m bound to find out more as I progress with the write-up. I’ve structured the book in such a way that each chapter covers a single year. Each year has 16 pages including 10 major event pages (1 major event per page), 2 pages other events, summary page, price-metrics page, chart page and the initial title page. (I’m typing this quickly on my phone, so please ask questions if uncertain about my intentions) There will be a sufficient number of pages before the yearly chapters to document features of Bitcoin and define key principles. Ultimately, it will become clearer as time goes by how the book interior will evolve. I hope the community supports me as I continue progress (initial research took 3-4 months).
I will post progress including page previews on this thread as time goes by. If I don’t post regularly, it means I’m busy writing ✍️ [moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]

take your time. no rush
but when you are ready post some summary. like chapter names of certain thing. not years(thats boring) but summary of content. like some little quotes or exerts
you know little preview to tug at the purse strings of wanting to read more(by buying) the book dont just call each chapter Year 2008 dangle us a hook of intriguing content to spark our interest to want to read more
there are some of us that know all the history. but if we can see something thats well written that sounds more like a novel rather than a list of calendar date events with witness(observation) statements, the more you might get wanting to read it
as for the hopes of a hardback.. well dont try seeking to go get it published by mainstream find a private publisher to help your design your book for private print of first editions
then let that be your advert for a publisher to make second editions for mainstream

The longer you wait for something, the more you’ll appreciate it when it gets done. Anything worth having is definitely worth the wait Yes, each yearly chapter will have a chapter title.
