Bitcoin Core Did Not Shutdown Properly and Causing Error..Please help!!

Hi guys,

I'm a total newbie who's into Bitcoin. I was in the middle of downloading Bitcoin core(78%) when my computer just freeze for hours that I have to force shutdown without closing the Bitcoin Core properly.

When I rebooted and started Bitcoin Core again, it shows "Error Reading from Database" and close itself. I repeated the process and it's the same.

Does anyone have experience with this situation? Please help me, it took me 5 days to reach this download progress, and I definitely would appreciate to not start all over again T.T

Did you try to reindex your wallet?
In Windows, typing from cmd bitcoin-qt -reindex and let it runs.

If it can not help, it can be problems with your RAM or HDD. Check it too to make sure you have enough RAM and storage space in your HDD.

No I have not try that before. I just bought a new SSD just for Bitcoin and it's running smoothly until my computer has freeze problem today and I was force to shut it download.

Do I have to change to the folder of where I install my bitcoin core to use the command? Sorry I'm not familiar with cmd.

By default this is what I entered but it's not a recognized command.

Yep, you've to navigate directory to the folder where the wallet is installed before running the command above. I'm not a bitcoincore user, looks like it's C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin ^[1]
Try to check it manually too. If it is true then the command prompt will be,

cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin

Yep, you've to navigate directory to the folder where the wallet is installed before running the command above.

Correct command but not the directory, it should be cd to the directory where bitcoin-qt is located, not the data directory.
In Windows, it's usually in C:\Program Files\Bitcoin but may be different depending on where you installed Bitcoin.

Another way to launch it without "cd" is to provide the absolute path to bitcoin-qt like: "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -reindex

Another option is to create a shortcut of bitcoin-qt and in its 'Properties', edit the "Target" with the command line option that you want to use.
e.g. (the shortcut's "Target"): "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -reindex

Click 'Ok', Then use that shortcut to start Bitcoin Core with -reindex.
