Oh my... I hate myself for not buying that apartment every time I think about it.

Normally I wouldn't post in a thread like this, which is bound to be full of shitposts but your comment about the apartment you've got regrets over reminds me of a similar situation I was in over 10 years ago.  It's not so much a financial regret as it is a comfort one, but man....if I had to make a list of all the financial fuckups I've made in my life, I'd run out of paper, patience, or emotional energy. 

I've got so many regrets regarding money that I try my best not to think about them.  If I did, it'd just drive me crazy since at this point there's nothing I can do except to move forward as best I can, you know?

OP, talking about regrets isn't likely to be a fruitful topic here.  Even if people have 'em, all you're going to get are a bunch of general statements (like mine except even less productive), since everyone values their privacy and/or just wants to plop down a post to get paid.  I'd lock this up if I were you.

I don't have any big regrets. There are small situational things, such as wasting a few hours on something you knew wouldn't work out or not walking away from a conversation you know isn't leading anywhere productive earlier. Those are the small things I regret, but not for long because I simply try to learn from them for the future and move on. As for big things, I thankfully have nothing to regret. I am sorry you didn't get that apartment, but not borrowing money when you're young and when it might not work out, as well as not borrowing from people with whom you have a complicated relationship which is boung to get harder because them giving you money will change the power dynamics is a reasonable decision. Also, you now know that an area can become well-developed and an apartment can rise in price pretty fast. Lessons learned, moving on is what I think is productive here. People similarly often regret they didn't invest in Bitcoin when they heard of it and it was way cheaper than it currently is. It's a typical regret, but since we can't change the past, dwelling on regrets is merely spoiling the present.

In life, there are many things to regret thousands of times, not only financially. If we were going to only talk about finance, we just need to talk about investing in Bitcoin, I believe we have hundreds of regrets about our decision, so we do not need to go any further. They're just indeed a lesson instead of regrets and this is why I do not feel too bad when my calculated risk did not work out in the first place. That apartment of yours? Well we all have that kind of scenarios where we missed out. It is not part of your control anyway that its housing price could have skyrocketed, and you weren't to know it anyway. I guess the takeaway lesson from that is that when we're talking about lands and properties expect appreciation in price. It can only go up.

My only particular regret which turned into lesson is not saving up early.

My only regret is holding myself back on some risks that would've taken me to greater profits now. I'm a small-shot like everybody else years ago, at least I assume, until I stumbled upon cryptocurrency and bitcoin. Through the years I was able to grow my portfolio and bag some considerable amount of profits along the way, but that doesn't mean I didn't encounter issues along the way. Loss of profits, hacks, scams, and loss of potential profits due to not taking enough risks were a few of the regrets I hold myself against even to this day. But ultimately, just because you regret something doesn't mean you'd let yourself be stuck in there forever, we should always be dynamic and moving towards greater things. Don't let regret and self-pity hold you back.

I've made quite a few financial mistakes, such as my first car purchase, which I regret as it was a bottomless pit as it was always breaking down and causing me to spend money on it. I ended up selling it a year later at a ridiculous price. Most who entered the cryptocurrency world early would also say that they regret not buying Bitcoin earlier, but that's something not worth saying. What I do regret though is giving up on cryptocurrencies in 2018, which was my largest financial mistake and the worst mistake I've done during my time here because it was conducted by myself and the blame is solely on me and could have been avoided if I was more persistent.

Well, you are right that life is all about choices, and making the correct decisions at the correct time or you will regret it later. I won't believe it if someone tells me that they have no regrets at all for anything they did in their lives, be it financial or anything else.

Regarding financial regrets, I do have some of my own from the past, or maybe more but I will talk about one that I regret the most. Back in the days, when Bitcoin was not too famous and didn't have a very high value. I remember I sold about 0.5 BTC for maybe $250 or maybe a little less. At that time, we used to be surprised to see a currency having a value of over $500, and we could never imagine that it will touch $69k one day. So yeah, I do regret that decision of mine pretty badly.

We do had regrets from the pastm In terms of financial aspect, my regrets are related to investments. Also, in relation to this industry I regret not putting my funds on BTC or ETH until the last ATH, I sold early because I thought price won't increase for more. Also, the moment I sold, price continued to uprise and I doubted that; I've missed the opportunity to earn double of what I have earned. At the end of the day, I needed to affix myself that I still earned a decent amount.

However, one friend of mine was taking me to a suburban area for an apartment, super nice but the neighborhood was not fully developed yet. The total cost of that department was about $100,000. Well, I did not have that much money at that time but if I borrowed some from my parents and it was not a problem. Maybe because I was too young and did not get along with my parents at the time, I did not ask for that so I refused the offer and let go of that apartment. A few years later, the suburban area became part of the CBD and the housing price was going up insanely. Today, that apartment I missed is worth at least $1.2 million. Oh my... I hate myself for not buying that apartment every time I think about it.

We all have regrets especially when we wanted to purchase something yet we cannot afford it. Yes, the same thing happened to me a couple of times when I was younger but things happen for a reason. There are things that we shouldn't just feel regretful about forever but we should take those things to motivate us and inspire us to strive harder. It's fine to commit wrong decisions when we are not well matured yet but we have to move forward and find more opportunities that we can grab or even assets that we can now afford. It isn't late to fulfill our goals yet.

certainly not dumping some of the coins where they are at peak thinking i'd made some good fortune out of holding turns out they are becoming useless in the long run.
had I sold the coin and move on and invests in some newer coins like aptos i'd have made good fortune but i'm just too greedy in holding coin and turns out they are all falling apart. I now know that only coins that are big enough like bitcoin and eth are the ones that's worth holding for the long run, the other coin should just gets sold when there is a chance.
other regret is that i'm not that faithful with the fact that bitcoin increase is linear, therefore always late to accumulate.

I think of all us have these financial regrets and our stories will be different.

What matter is, we learned thru these regrets and are able to think of better ways to apply them to have better lives. When it comes to financing, we will really come up to the point that asking ourselves, "I was supposed to do that before but...".

What else can we do? Just move forward and bury those regrets.

I don't have any real regrets.

Many of my choices were suboptimal. I had more than 37,000 doge coins from faucets. At peak that could be near to $18,000. But I managed to dump all my DOGE before they were worth anything. I did crypto exchange arbitrage during its golden age but didn't put enough effort into it to translate into any real gains. I had many alt coins that I dumped, which became worth something later. There are many investment opportunities I thought long and hard about but did not pull the trigger on, which would have been big winners.

It'll always be a case of "if I had been smarter and put more effort into it, it would have been profitable".

There might always be good opportunities and good buy ins. Just as there was 20 years ago, 10 years ago, 10 months ago, 10 weeks ago. There are good opportunities right now.

Its good motivation to try to be smarter and put more motivation and effort into whatever you're doing atm.

I might only regret if I was being as complacent today, as I was being complacent when I missed out on all of these good opportunities in the past.

I have to have regrets so I treat all my "mistakes" as a learning process. Because you can never say that it was a mistake before the time has passed and you can't do nothing about it. So never regret your decicions boys, just learn and get better

I think everyone has regrets when it comes to money. Everyone also makes mistakes. However, while it is true that you cannot change what happened in the past, you can still learn from those mistakes and make better choices in the future. So while we can't undo financial actions we regret in the past, we can work to prevent them from happening again in the future.

If you want to reduce your financial regrets as much as possible, stop making money your priority and instead use money as a way to increase your happiness.

There have been a lot of regrets in my life, and I think no one is without mistakes, and I think my biggest regret has been selling my bitcoins too soon, which I think was my biggest mistake. If I could hold it when it hit ATH last year, I would have millions in my hand. However, regret will not help us to change the past, instead, let us learn from our mistakes and avoid repeating them in the future in order to prevent these regrets from happening again.

Well, having spent too much money on stupid stuff when I was younger. That money well invested and compounded would be a considerable amount today. The thing is that when you're young you tend to look at the moment rather than 20 years ahead. But what's done is done, and now we have to look ahead.

Sometime ago, I read this quote by Swami Sivananda, "Do not brood over your past mistakes and failures as this will only fill your mind with grief, regret and depression. Do not repeat them in the future." I am repeating it here because it applies to the OPs situation. We all have financial regrets similar to the OP's but then we do not have to beat ourselves up for it. The way I think about it is that, we are living in such a time where the population in the world is increasing exponentially and this doesn't exclude that of countries. There are other places that can be developed and in no time will turn into a developed area. Seek out to places and buy as many hectares of land as you can financial. Begin to develop those area and within the next decade you will be proud of yourself for not making the same mistake twice.

Oh believe me man all people here I bet have " life regrets" and this is also needed in our life. I mean experiences like what you happened to you is come at a very high cost. and yes that including to our finances I mean I have known bitcoin since 2014 which was my second year in my highschool if I knew bitcoin would go crazy I obviously buy a lot. But we are not psychic that can predict things, i mean we are gonna be rich if can predit anything before happen.

That is a good point, that regret cannot change something that has happened, but it can be a lesson for us to prepare ourselves when facing the same situation.
Many people are successful, yes we only see their success, but only a few know how they fall up from failure. I can conclude that failure is what makes them successful people, surely they learn from what mistakes they have made so they can become failures, and that can improve them.
