Life is about choices and we all are on the path led by our choices. It's not easy to talk about life regrets in general because we are/were in quite different situations. To make this thread easier, we just focus on the regrets in finances. I believe many of them can be lessons to learn from. I'll start first. Over a decade ago, I was living in a mega city of my country. At the time, the city was already a metropolitan place where you can meet all people over the world. Of course, the land was scarce and the price of housing was pretty high, nomal people could not afford to buy an apartment, let alone a house. However, one friend of mine was taking to a suburban area for an apartment, super nice but the neighborhood was not fully developed yet. The total cost of that departemtn was about $100,000. Well, I did not have that much money at that time but if I borrowed some from my parents and it was not a problem. Maybe because I was too young and did not get along with my parents at the time, I did not ask for that so I refused the offer and let go of that apartment. A few years later, the suburban area became part of the CBD and the housing price was going up insanely. Today, that apartment I missed is worth at least $1.2 million. Oh my... I hate myself for not buying that apartment every time I think about it.

I don't think it was your fault that you missed out on this opportunity. You didn't have the money to invest in the business and borrowing to invest is risky. If you borrowed and the place didn't appreciate this high, you would have been indebted which is burdensome.

I started a telecommunication business a long time ago and I later abandoned the business because I secured admission to a college. The business collapsed because of my absence. But the ideal thing I would have done was to employ someone who would handle the business when I do the supervision. After a few years, a major telecommunication company partnered with people that were in the same line of business as me, and many of them are millionaires now because the partnership opened more opportunities for them. Although I graduated with good grades, it would have been better to have a good certificate and a flourishing business.

If you only regret that you didn't have time to buy an apartment in the suburbs in the past, that's almost the same as me who also didn't have time to buy a plot of land that was very suitable for building a house. And now the price has doubled from the price that was offered to me before because the location of the land is also not that far from the city that we often visit every day.

But I don't really regret that, even though I'm still looking for other land to build a house on. Because I can still look for a better one even though the price is different and choose one that is closer to the city that I frequently visit every day. And if you created this topic because you only regretted something in the past, I don't think the discussion will be so extensive here

Most people have made wrong financial decisions that has led to regrets, it is a common thing that happens because decision making is not always as straightforward as you think. The decision you take that looks right today may be turn out bad tomorrow. If you had heard a news that the apartment building you wanted to buy then was marked for demolition or seizure, I am very sure that you will be happy that you did not buy the property. Decision making is not easy that is why it is always encouraged that you seek advice from professionals before you make some financial decisions.

It's less of a single moment or event and more of a - if I knew more about financial topics like stocks and credit cards earlier on there would have been potential to make so much more. One of the biggest things to avoid when you're younger is debt, as it has both a psychological impact but also prevents you making money, the only valid debt is a low rate mortgage. As for stocks, it sounds like a money making dream, you just buy these little chunks of a company and over time they either grow in value or pay you part of their profits every year, the hardest part is picking the right ones. But even index funds do the job and diversify your risk so much, just plow what you can into them.

It just similar like what most Bitcoin holder is saying, if Bitcoin price was still $3,000, I will use all of my money to buy Bitcoin. Every people always have any financial regret, but it just depends on the person, does he want to learn to maximize the profit? or he will just keep blaming himself and not want to invest it when the price is already higher than before? What do you and everyone need to know is, $69K isn't the peak of Bitcoin price, the peak is very very higher than that, so don't miss the moment.

We're not able to provide even for ourselves but then, if that time comes again and we've got savings and other assets ready to be sold and very liquid, we would take those opportunities. The same as mine and probably with the others too, seeing the price of bitcoin and ethereum at a low price but since I am not able during that thing and I am even making barely for living, that opportunity was missed. Until I see the price of bitcoin going higher and higher every time a year is passing but I can't help with my situation so, I just keep on accumulating no matter what is the situation now.

I didn't know I would come across this kind of story when I thought of my past missed opportunities in about 30 minutes ago. It might remain as a regret for life as one might have made a life-changing success through them. Mine is similar to yours in the case of landed properties and real estate as a whole, Gold, US dollar and Crypto investments miss.

It hurts, but I've started investing in all of them now, which is making the regret reduce but can never be abolished because I might have worth over $50M now.

for regrets that have been missed, of course, almost all humans experience it, but how to react to it so that it is not affected because of regret.

I personally also think the same thing that what has been missed I will never turn into a regret so that there is no feeling that I will be tricked into doing things in the future.

In my opinion, in your story, almost everyone feels the same way about regional progress and development which has made land and house prices very expensive, but why should we regret conditions that are inadequate and don't need to be forced. And what you experience is natural. But it's the past that will become a memory and a lesson and if you do that maybe you will benefit because the price is going up and a lot of people feel the same way.
and many people even regret selling their land or house at that time and maybe also out of necessity. But all that has happened and all that's left are regrets, memories and lessons, don't sell your land or house too quickly, because the area is developing very rapidly and this is a good property investment.

Who doesn't? One who doesn't would have to be rich or following some sort of religious practice that unsubscribes completely from society or the involvement with money...I am sure that someone has spent a small amount of money on a candy bar and thought "Wow, what a waste of my money". Even someone who thinks they have no financial regret probably has regretted something they have done financially, such as the latter.

What you need to regret is not that you didn't buy a house, but that you were on bad terms with your parents. Humanly, it's more concerning that they didn't give you money or that you were proud and didn't ask for help. I always wonder about people like that: why in the hell do your parents owe you?  You have grown up, and now it is your duty to help them, not you. Furthermore, understanding that you owe your parents money and that over time you must return not the same amount as before but much less is not entirely fair.
And if we're on the topic, then the whole of human life consists of a thousand regrets. We are not gods to foresee everything in advance, so just move on and try to be wiser.

Hey, we all have regrets that we feel right now about what we've been through. And sadly, it happens again and again to us and we don't learn from past experiences. If you have chosen a path and it turns out that your life has not changed, you don't need to regret it because it was your choice and in fact, your choice might later give you something better than the other choices. Life is about learning from past experiences and making it an evaluation for us so we can live better than yesterday.

Well, since we are here in a crypto community, I must say that majority of us here regrets on why we did not have our first Bitcoin purchase when we first heard of it and when the price is at it's super low range (less than a thousand maybe).
Don't get me wrong I do have a lot of financial regrets, but I just want to relate this to Bitcoin financial regrets, coz I do have regrets as well when I first heard about Bitcoin somewhere around 2013 or 2014, but I was just too naive in terms of investments during those times.

I will not be surprised if anyone here in the forum says not to buy bitcoin, as you can imagine you could buy a lot before if you just knew that the price would be huge. Even I, who just discovered bitcoin in 2016, regret not buying a lot at that time as I was just scared and not taking a risk. If we have any regrets, we should learn from them and not do them again.

That's the regret, it has passed and we did nothing and that's because of understandable capacity that we've got during those times. It's pretty much one of the biggest lessons that we've learned in our lifetime when we've seen how the market vastly grown overtime. But if you think that it's not a regret then that's okay as that's your opinion but to me, that's one of the regrets that I've been dealing with and realization together with acceptance is what made it even lighter. These experiences that we've got in the past is making us better on today's time and wouldn't want us to commit such regrets again. But one factor is that, this time, we grew up and matured as well and became more capable.

As human we are bound to make dangerous mistakes in our lives that must lead to regrets,just because of the wrong decisions that we made. Regrets are there, for us to learn and be strong so that we can make wise decisions next time. There are some opportunities that comes but once. Just as mentioned above by other forum members, my regret was that I didn't get into the cryptospace early, as at 2009,due to lack of its awareness and even when I heard it 2015, I thought it was a scam project. Until a friend told me and showed me prooves that it is for real. You should not think of the past but instead try to correct the wrong decision you made,by thinking of how you can buy an apartment somewhere cool.
