A well-known forum scammer, farlack, decided to try out a new scheme to deceive users.

I think this member deserves to get signature ban for posting this lie (even if he considers this as a joke).
Most experienced members won't be fooled by this, and we can clearly see negative feedback received in his profile, but newbies can easily get tricked with this.
Maybe you can report him for this to moderator but I think this can be counted as breaking of forum rules, especially if he is sending PM's to other members.

But, there are still large parts of this forum that don't display the trust info. If not a full on ban then at least a signature ban should be given.
The other side is as I have said, it's an internet forum not your mom, if you trust without checking you are going to get burned sooner or later.

I think a signature ban should be administered at a bare minimum. I'm not sure what the guy gains by putting the lie in his signature, but there is no reason to try and dupe the users of the forum. I hope you have reported him?

I think the signature ban is too mild a punishment for discrediting the forum administration. This new admin deliberately undermines their authority with his behavior. I would suggest a permanent ban (if it was up to me), so that it would be a lesson for others and so that it would not even occur to others to repeat such a thing.

Well I don't have to go dipper into this matter because I know the results or judgement would come from Theymos or any administrator who can briefly explain to us very well than all this grammar over here.

I was even wasting time to say theymos will judge it. I believe strongly that it could be a bought account or stolen account trying to advantage on people.

farlack banned, great, one less scammer account on the forum. It will be good if his entire farm of accounts also flies into a ban, the forum will become cleaner.

It's very interesting to see that this account (Aryanto28) has a name that is very familiar to Indonesians. After I checked the facts, it showed that he was indeed from Indonesia.

If anyone speaks Russian, might want to check this user as well, guron143, I noticed he opposed 4 of the 7 flags raised against the 12 users connected to farlack. I think there's a possibility they're one of the alt too, I don't speak Russian though, and most of their posts are in Russian, so I can't dig anything myself.

Well, what never ceases to amaze me are some of the lengths that some people will go to in order to fulfil their aims. What is he expecting or hoping he will achieve by claiming to be an administrator? On the surface this issue as a stand alone will probably not warrant a permanent ban but I do agree with you that at the very least he should receive a signature ban.

It's pretty obvious what he was trying to accomplish with this lame-brained scheme, as described by OP--and it makes sense only if you assume the signature would stay in place long enough to fool at least one newbie who didn't know any better.  The question I have is how the hell he thought that shit would go undetected for however long it'd be to scam someone.

There's lately a "wave" of old accounts that start claiming they're admins and some also send "welcome" PMs to newcomers telling about a so-called forum's wallet (obviously a scam).

If you were more careful, you would see that this account has not earned a single merit in its entire history: https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=farlack The account has 1000 merit due to the fact that they were given to him by airdrop, after the introduction of the merit system in 2018, the airdrop was accrued based on the rank that the user had in January 2018. farlack has been Legendary for quite some time now, so it received an airdrop of 1000 merits, which was in line with the new Legendary rank rules.

I didn't know that. Coz honestly, when the merit system was implemented I seldomly posted here due to being busy at school. I have only merited few people as far as I can remember. Although he has a high rank, I admire his tenacity claiming to be an admin hahaha. If that was me, I wouldn't waste my time doing such things but instead focus on joining campaigns, coz it's just a waste of account.

We cannot predict a person's true identity, that's why everyone is not above the law, being a forum staff doesn't mean if such go against the law cannot face the consequences, we have many DT members that have lots of negative trust as feedbacks, i like this fact that it will always serves as a reference to others who think they can get away with it whenever they go against the rule without being faced the consequence.

You complained about merits. I understand how sad it feels to see your merit count stock in a particular number for so long. But your personal text said merit is just a number. You should have gotten over it.
Meanwhile, not all legendary accounts go their merits from scratch. Most of them got merit air drop.
