Idunno — BTCPay seems pretty great in a customer's perspective, not sure if there's anything more I'd need to be honest. Now, the problem is probably on the store owner's side if I were to guess. I'm assuming that the likes of BitPay are far easier to implement to your storefront compared to something like BTCPay.

Regulation is not a priority for a Bitcoin related service. Compliance with regulatory authorities does not ensure security of user funds, but means that a third party arbitrate your crypto transactions.

Your priority should be decentralization with Bitcoin.

Not only that, but businesses usually don't hold crypto. Their payment processors immediately converts it into fiat. If you run a business where you have certain costs (employer salaries, taxes, store rent, bills, etc.) you can't speculate what the future price of a volatile asset will be. 30 days in the future, your crypto could be worth 10% more or 10% less than what it was at the time you received it. You can't tell your employees and the taxman that you will pay them 10% less this month.

Yeah, and that's why people grab that convenience and easier set up process instead of greater security, better service and no fees. BTCPay Server being self-hosted requires the clients to do most of the work when setting it up. Bitpay is a few clicks and exchanged messages with their support.

Use a non-custodial payment gateway if you are knowledgeable enough about cryptography. As a result, you will have complete control and won't need to worry about regulations or anything else. Hence, in my opinion, BTCPayserver is the best. It supports a variety of alternative coins and is unrestricted. But like I stated, you need to be a techie to avoid using a third-party server. Just wondering whether you're considering integrating a cryptocurrency payment gateway into your business. then conduct further study.

Pfff. I think it's just the beloved third party. Merchants --and people generally-- want a third party to complain when something goes off track. It doesn't really matter if the third party will help them in the end; what matters is the feeling that you have a brother company seemingly willing to help. Both BTCPay and BitPay are roughly of the same difficulty to setup.

For me personally, it would have to be CashApp.

I know it's not perfect but it's super easy to use and really makes bitcoin more comfortable to manipulate.

Be careful, though, because I've had rejected transactions when trying to send to certain wallets from cashapp. That's a red flag.

CashApp relies on bank to be linked so it's not going to be everyone's favorite. It's also KYC, which is arguably an attack vector on bitcoin itself.

One green flag I see with cashapp is that they ONLY support bitcoin and the lightning network. They have no other support for any other alt-coin that I can see. They have respect for the market leader.

Cashapp has it's own bitcoin section where they facilitate the buying, selling, sending, and receiving of crypto right on the app. Unless I'm missing something, that sure sounds like a gateway into the bitcoin market, no?

In the end, when you create a business, you aim for profit, whether it is directly by reducing expenses, number of employees, operating costs, withdrawal and deposit fees, or indirectly, such as customer service, and improving its experience.
The open-source options are good for dealing with small activities, as a simple technical experience can reduce your fees to a large extent, but the larger the project, the more you need paid software.

An ideal BTC payment gateway would probably be one that uses the lightning network for transactions as a first, to make transactions faster which is better for both the vendor and the customer. They should also provide scalability, so that if the business grows, there will be more transactions in less time, so they should be able to manage that.

Also, they should also have a feature for the vendor to directly convert the collected Bitcoins to fiat if they wish to, since Bitcoin is volatile and it can lose value in no time, to be on the safer side for the sake of the business, this option can be useful.

It should have no escrow, no registration, privacy protection, free, opensource, and the most important thing is that the payment process must be completely on-chain, similar to a transfer.
