Just a few words to cheer up Ryder fans - he is an interim WBA champ. Not a Nr1 contender, but a champ. You dont get that belt just for having beautiful eyes. These 5 losses in his record. People say that it is a lot. But have you seen these losses? What if they were in close fights? Ryder has wins over strong opponents also. Dont judge him only by losses. He is a southpaw and technitian boxer. Southpaws were never easy opponents for Canelo. And we gonna see spam of punches from both sides.

But interim title is just a secondary title, not really the real one. Also, Ryder haven't fought many good boxers which had a similar level like Canelo Alvarez.

John Ryder is a good boxer and he's better than many boxers in his weight, if I fight with him, obviously he can easily win via KO. But Canelo is different and he's way better than Ryder, he lost to Mayweather is understandable due to politic reason and he lost to Bivol is really deserved since Bivol clearly dominating almost all the rounds.

In my view, Ryder don't have a politic power like Mayweather and not as strong as Bivol, it's why Ryder is a huge underdog.

I agree Ryder has nothing to lose but everything to gain here, people are taking him for granted so if Ruder upset Canelo it will be one of the biggest upsets, just hurting Canelo is enough or going to the distance, because we expect Canelo to go all out here to silence the doubters.

Yeah, that's the best effort that we could see for Ryder, at least last the whole 12 rounds. We haven't seen anyone except Golovkin and Bivol lasted that long against Alvarez.

So if by chance Ryder is really tough as what the papers describe him and not just another British boxer that easily fall, then it's a good accomplished and we can say that it's a "victory" for him. Otherwise, he could be KO in the middle rounds and give the fans what they wanted to see and pay.

A big recognition of the heart of John Ryder too. Damn, that man is surely adamant, he refuses to go down even though he was battered hard. He was bloody, he got punched so hard that he got dizzy, and he might even have a hard time to breath because of the blood dipping in his nose but he still fought until the end. All the respect to him. Big heart for the sport. Not for the money, he wants to win so badly.

I think he is still affected mentally by his left hand injury but he is getting there. The title will remain in his possession but the big question will come out in the next few days. A clear domination by Canelo, Ryder down in the round five, but at least he can survive until the last round. People who are bet Canelo to win via decision should get a decent profit. However after he lost against Bivol, it seems like Canelo isn't really strong anymore, he not even KO'ed Ryder. I think the next match for Canelo is David Benavidez, Benavidez is stronger than Ryder and Plant, he also an undefeated boxer, this will be a good fight.

I thought that he has plans to rematch Bivol. In any case, a Benavidez fight is also good, another Mexican, but this time, it's young and big and has the power. Hopefully Canelo won't go under the excuse that he doesn't want to fight another Mexican. And fight Bivol at 175 lbs because as he have said, his critics are going to tell that Canelo drain Bivol at 168 lbs if he insist on fighting Bivol on that weight.

As for Ryder, he did try his best, but he might have exposed Canelo now as he was able to stand the onslaught and power and stay upright till the last bell. I think he can still maintain his pound for pound listing, but it depends on the performance of Inoue next. If Naoya beat Fulton with knockout and devastating power then he will surely be the top pound for pound now.

For me, I don't think that the performance of Canelo is enough to beat Bivol at this point. Bivol is a volume puncher and very accurate, so even if Canelo wanted to be the aggressor, Bivol can counter him all night just like the first fight.

It was not a knock out victory, everyone wanted to see if he can do it, but as you have said, maybe he is affected psychologically with that injured hand of his that's why he can't throw it the way he used to be. So both Benavidez and Bivol might beat the version of Canelo that this show against Ryder, just saying.

And this might be the start of Canelo's declination of his career because the way I see it there are only two things.

1. It's either Canelo is not that explosive because of his wrist injury that hinted some lack of power which is why he cannot close the fight with a KO after what happened in Round 5 or
2. it's just that John Ryder is resistant enough and could eat strong punches.

Either way, I'm not that convinced that Canelo can defeat Bivol this time or if he's going to face Benavidez, it might be risky for him knowing that Benavidez is much younger and also pack a lot of power. I know that Benavidez doesn't have good boxers on his record that is somehow on-par with Canelo but there is always a first time for everything.

Well, that is the reason why this fight has been made in the first place so that Canelo Alvarez and everyone inside his camp including Eddie Hearn knows the exact situation of Canelo's power because after the surgery, they certainly know that it will have some serious setbacks or some effect to the user, but they need how certain it is, which by now, I think they already found the answer.

But I don't think he needed another tune-up fight because what happened in general is still positive, but people are surely confused about what happened in the fight because Canelo lacks something to close the whole fight before it ends into the judge's hands.
