SOL can hit 40$ but may not stay long there.

During a bull run I think there is little doubt that Solana can match the performance asked by the OP and more, but despite the rapid growth we have seen during the last weeks this is not a bull market, the bull market will only appear until a few months have passed since the halving, so it is unlikely that we are going to see Solana at 40 dollars during this year, and if that is the case then it does not make the most sense to invest in it now when bitcoin is giving such a solid performance.

A real bull run will happen in a year, after the halving, I agree with you. But there could be a local, short-lived rise this year. That's why many are comparing 2023 to 2019, which also fits into the theory of four year cycles. It might not be hard for Solana to do X2 this year.

Although SOL has lost 90% of its value in 2022, after the connections from FTX and Alameda, but if they really prove the next developments by upgrading and optimizing the ecological. SOL is always open possibility of 40$ return easily. SOL is a market TOP 10 coin. Quality and potential are recognizable. The $40 price point is still a possibility as the market enters a bull season in line with bitcoin's trend. All altcoins have opportunities and risks that we cannot predict.

Not necessarily the price is always dependent on bitcoin and USD value, the problem with Solana is that they are having bugs which causes the network to fail and with the limited number of projects that started using them have already migrated to other networks because they cannot trust a network which keeps on failing and the promise of long term fix is not yet fulfilled.

Totally agree with this, after many mistakes before, I realized that they are still struggling to redefine their development plan now.
And I personally don't really like it because even though there are times when people fomo, I see it as a normal trend in the market.
However, the current situation I think will be difficult when SOL is getting less and less trust from the community, and especially when seeing many new and competitive platforms appear, so I think the cash flow will be not much priority on SOL.

you are right a lot depends on the project team and how they will continue development.The price of solana has now been standing in one place for quite a long time and this also has an advantage. When bitcoin goes up and the market is more stable, I think we will see a further increase in solana.

the target of 40 bucks is not that hard to achieve given that they are about 20 bucks for their current price. however, as you said, investors or buyers will be interested on this project if they see progress or any good developments coming out via news.
though they are very far from their ATH of 260 bucks, i believe, they still have the chance as this platform is one of the promising ones as compared to most alts with no use case at all. the dev team should be aggressive in giving updates to its community. otherwise, people will just move on to the new one in the market.
