Some Airdrops have quite the potential, so we also have to be good at sorting them out and researching them first to find out the clarity of the projects that are being built. Some of the L2 etherium indeed projects are quite potential, so maybe most people don't want to miss the opportunity like Optimism and Arbitrum which they have given decent prizes to the winners.
Of course, an airdropper must be careful regarding airdrops that are shared via telegram or Twitter because it is very dangerous if we are not careful, and the important thing here is that when working on an airdrop not to use the main wallet that has valuable assets.
I guess developers need to test their network from network testers and look for errors in their project from user feedback while testing.
I agree that there are a lot of airdrops that aim at only making money for the creators and nothing more. Which means that they just create a token for free, they ask everyone to work and do marketing for them for free (in exchange of the token they created for free) and if it worths anything at all, even a cent, they sell all their millions of tokens, and make a profit.

Even if it's just a few thousand dollars profit, it's still a profit and that's a horrible issue. I have to say it's definitely not something I would advise anyone to do, it's a situation where it's near impossible to make money and I wouldn't want to be part of something like that at all, I avoid it as much as possible.

There are different ways where we can avoid phishing links which is to never participate in airdrop and the second is never click links that requires you to connect a wallet that is from airdrop unless you are aware and know the platform itself. E.g, uniswap requires you to connect a wallet then it's okay but if it's from an airdrop and you click a link before it will ask you to connect a wallet then better stop and stay away from it. I don't think airdrops change its way to reward participants. All I know is that airdrop participants only need to complete task and provide wallet address and not one airdrop I joined required me to connect a wallet.

Are you already feeling the hype of Arbitrum airdrop? And you feel like you will never miss out on the next upcoming airdrop like Zksync and StarkNet? This warning message is for you.
After the Arbitrum airdrop was a success and many people are claiming their arb tokens some people claimed that they lost all their arbs after claiming them from the official claiming website into their wallet, including a friend of mine, you want to know how it happened? This is how

Thanks for the heads-up OP. I am sure that it will save at least a few people from losing their funds and being victim of a scam. It is very sad that stuff like that happens but it is totally not a surprise for me, as this is just how humans are, they are taking personal advantage out of everything. To that whole airdrop farming hype that is happening at the moment in general: I think that this trend will slowly but surely slow down again, because obviously now that the Arbitrum airdrop brought a lot of money to a lot of people. A lot of new airdrop hunters are now active and this can not go well in the long run. The more people there are farming those airdrops, the smaller the amount of money will be that everyone gets.

Or one could just avoid airdrops together. The security and privacy risk one is exposed to by trying out multiple airdrops is not worth the tokens they give out as rewards.
The time completing those tasks and creating different social accounts can be applied to some other endeavor which would be more rewarding.
I am kind of surprised that airdrop is still worth it till today. Few years ago when I joined this community, I was told that airdrop is no longer worth it compared to when the whole cryptocurrency market was new and I am surprised that despite the criticism people are still rewarding from the process.
This also can be extended to bounty hunters. These set of people are the most criticised and it has been said countless times that the effort does not worth it and yet many new bounty hunters are seen flooding the bounty space.

Airdrops are now making a return, we can expect scammers to be on alert because of the next upcoming airdrops, it is left for everyone to be careful with what platform or links they choose to connect their wallet too, I have given up on airdrops but the noise I am hearing about how many people make thousands of dollars from Arbitrum is very tempting, I think will start giving airdrop a second thought, for this time at least.

Well can you trust those claims anyway? I would always be skeptical about people's earnings around the internet since anyone could just say anything. I highly doubt that people would just earn thousands of USD from it alone. If that is the monthly earnings from airdrop, I could have just quit my 9-5 job considering that 1k dollars like like around 50,000 here in my country and that is already a lot in here.

If you're still going to give airdrops a go, patience is going to help and not just vigilance since from my experience before, almost none of the airdrops I joined gave me my token and one even attempted to hack my wallet through their phishing site.

It wouldn't hurt to try anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A good airdrop can be worth ton of money. You just need to know what you are doing.
A large amount of altcoins are not good ones and a large number of people do not know what they are doing. There would be people that have benefited from airdrops at one time or the other, but in my experience it's not a net profit for the amount of privacy risk and security risk you are exposed to.

Different experiences lead to different perspectives.
Many altcoins are only a scam but if it's about the screens that we see online, it depends as there are also legit post which came from legit people. They are rich enough to afford those coins or maybe they are only sponsored by the project that they promote. Real airdrops don't sell your data so don't worry.

There must be a reason on why they ask for our details. It can be to prevent the people from abusing their airdrop. I am not afraid to join an airdrop which came from a big and reputable company but if not, I think I will be careful and use a newly created wallet. I won't also send my real information with them just in case if they are fake.

I agree that Twitter has been one of the scam sources in crypto, and I have heard many stories about people losing their money due to fake links posted on Twitter or even on other platforms, but that doesn't deny its importance as the social platform of crypto due to the existence of most crypto projects/personalities over there, so it has a good side as well.

The scam in crypto won't end or be limited to Twitter or other platforms, so the best option everyone can follow is to take responsibility for their decision when they decide to click on every link, and this responsibility should be based on a prior due diligence process that confirms the credibility of a project or an airdrop. However, most airdrops don't deserve the time wasted claiming them, while a few are great opportunities to start building or adding to crypto holdings. Arbitrum was a good one, as everyone noticed, and I believe many similar projects are on the way this year, so leaving airdrops just to avoid getting scammed could waste many opportunities, while being aware of every link is a better solution in my opinion.

It isn't limited to that project only. It's a pretty much a common thing especially in Twitter where it's really an easy hole for the scammers to get some easy money through phishing. A bad thing is that some users who just blindly following any airdrops there are vulnerable to such attack and so many reports out there they get hacked and all their assets gone. It just takes few minutes to check everything yet people are still lazy to do it.

Newbies often fall into the trap of free airdrops in the crypto market. This is a common occurrence where hackers create links for airdrops that have a lot of hype and post them on social media platforms. Many people are enticed to connect their wallets to these links, but hackers can also access their wallets and steal their funds. Therefore, it's essential to always trust official social media groups and avoid randomly searching for wallet connections. Otherwise, the chances of wallet hacking increase.

Do not use links from social networks and do not use the main wallet for airdrop.
A good resource for checking TVL and working projects in the Ethereum ecosystem and its competitors, see this resource
https://defillama.com/chain/zkSync%20Era
Those who are looking for an airdrop in zkSync Era can try participating in several projects.

Since many have fallen into this seemingly simple trap, we should check the links before deciding.
We should seek more information from other sources to avoid such scams if necessary.
Distribution of free airdrops has been around for a long time and this requires our attention to always check it because not all free airdrops can provide benefits.
And make sure not to use a wallet that contains a lot of valuable assets to avoid theft of those assets because we will never know when that could happen.

You're absolutely right! For years, social media has become a source of nightmares for those who search for airdrops there. I've never trusted any news about airdrops from Twitter, nor the link that was shared there. I chose to ignore it. It is important that you have a trustworthy source, like an internal group that consists of your trusted colleagues who only share credible news. I got some big airdrops from there. Even if you get the news from Twitter, check the account. Only follow the instructions that come directly from the official account. Keep safe, guys!

That's one thing to watch out for. It would be hard for you to make amends with yourself if you fell into this scheme and let your greed get the best of you. It's going to be a nightmare of a problem to do. With all the scamming methods, you would only be safe with yourself and have control over what you put out and what wallet you connect into.

Having that gem would be hard to get, but you should know the consequences surrounding joining airdrops.
