Are you already feeling the hype of Arbitrum airdrop? And you feel like you will never miss out on the next upcoming airdrop like Zksync and StarkNet? This warning message is for you.

After the Arbitrum airdrop was a success and many people are claiming their arb tokens some people claimed that they lost all their arbs after claiming them from the official claiming website into their wallet, including a friend of mine, you want to know how it happened? This is how

There is no way you won't use Twitter if you are into airdrops, even if you don't want to, some tasks will require you to follow the project's official Twitter account, some crazy people are sending Tweet out on Twitter about how to pass for the next big Airdrop e.g Zksync and they will drop you a link, or ask you for your BSC address.

Look at the red spot very carefully, the links are phishing links, they can easily have access to your recovery seed once you connect your wallet to the link and wait patiently till the claiming day of the real token or send you a malicious fake token.

Stop visiting every links you see on Twitter because you want to qualify for the airdrop, Twitter is no more a safe place, Twitter is the most dangerous social media platform, especially for crypto-related things.

I passed the Arbitrum airdrop myself, using Airdrops.io and Airdropbob, they are oldy and trusty, it's been over four years since I've been using these two, Zksync task is currently on the platforms.

Stay safe and do not forget that not all that glitters are made of real Gold.

If you have already interacted with any link on Twitter all in the name of Airdrop, please go back and check the link very well, make sure it says lite.zkysnc.io or bridge.zksync.io, if not , please change your old wallet you are using for airdrop and use a new wallet address.

Or one could just avoid airdrops together. The security and privacy risk one is exposed to by trying out multiple airdrops is not worth the tokens they give out as rewards.
The time completing those tasks and creating different social accounts can be applied to some other endeavor which would be more rewarding.

This is exactly what I mean when I try to warn people against social media influencers; if this is true that the links there are phishing links, then there is no length to which these scammers can't get. Earlier, I guess there were some criteria one needed to meet before his account could be verified on social media, but now it's more business than before; if you can pay for that blue badge, they will hand it over to you. There is less of a suspicion when one sees any information posted online from a verified account; no one will ever suspect that.

This warning is not only for Twitter users but for all social media, email, and any site at all. To be security conscious, we should always avoid links from unverified users unless they're from the project itself, and even if they're from project owners, we should be mindful of the kind of link we open on our mobile device, which we usually use as storage for crypto.

Most of these Web 3 projects and airdrops online, which require users to connect their wallets directly to their sites, impose more risk than good on users and should be avoided.

Me personally, I don't connect my wallet to any site of any kind, most especially my crypto wallets. Back in the days when I still participated in airdrops, I had a separate wallet for each airdrop that I participated in, for security reasons, so that if anything were to happen to the wallet, I wouldn't be a complete loser.

@Nwada001, this sort of scam is not only pioneered by Twitter influencers; some general Twitter users also share these links for referral sake because most of this airdrop will require them to refer more people so they could earn a higher referral bonus. Scammers will go to any length to get their expected results, even if it requires them to pay for a Twitter account or adds so that their tweets will also appear more frequently. There are some sophisticated ways these scammers are using to scam both crypto and non-crypto users, and everyone just needs to be more careful.

Stop visiting every links you see on Twitter because you want to qualify for the airdrop, Twitter is no more a safe place, Twitter is the most dangerous social media platform, especially for crypto-related things.

In terms of sharing this kind of phishing link, Twitter has not been any closer to being safe since 2021 to 2023 because all these kinds of phishing airdrops and giveaways have always been tweeted about since then; it did not just start recently.

Twitter is not the most dangerous social media, but it's among the regular social media that scammers use to scam some newbies and greedy people. Telegram, Facebook crypto groups, Discord, and Reddit are mostly used by these scammers.

I'm wondering if Airdrop is still profitable nowadays. It's surprising that people involved with Airdrop don't know they shouldn't enter their seed or private key to participate in Airdrop. When will they learn? Or is it just bots doing Airdrop? However, I am not a fan of Airdrop anyway. It's just a waste of time, and I don't think it's profitable for projects to give free tokens to Airdrop participants, which often leads to the dumping of the project. It's better not to be greedy for free money and stay safe.

Sorry to say this, but based on my gathered facts, Twitter is actually the most dangerous social media platform when it comes to this kind of scam. The reason is that Twitter is the most used social media platform by crypto lovers, and as such, every scammer whose main target is crypto holders targets Twitter before they can even make use of any other means.

No social media is safe, no site is also too safe, and scammers can use any place they want irrespective of who their target is. We just have to be in charge of our own security and cautious about what we click.

I'm wondering if Airdrop is still profitable nowadays. It's surprising that people involved with Airdrop don't know they shouldn't enter their seed or private key to participate in Airdrop. There are lots of newbies out there who claim they know more about crypto, but all they have ever known is airdrops.

They actually don't need to paste their seed phrase into any site for them to be hacked; all they need to do is make one mistake, which is connecting their wallet to an unsafe site, and the hackers will get everything they want. Most newbies don't just know when to give up; that's why scammers still have the time to map out new scam plans because they know their victims are always ready to fall into them.

Clicking links on social media is always a risky thing to do. One can never be too careful with security.
Twitter is the social media site I use the most and I have seen different forms of scams on that platform. If you decide to click links from only handles you know and trust, that's still not a good idea because these scammers buy accounts too, or they just find a way to hack them if the user is not careful.
These days, with how easy it is to get verified on Twitter things are much worst. Before you can trust a verified account to an extent but these days anybody with $84 a year can get a Twitter verification.
Sometimes the people posting those links do not even know that they're posting an unsecured link because they just want to refer people as it is a criterion for most airdrops.

Altcoins are full of traps, like bars in Thailand Wink

I've noticed there are two kinds of people in here. One stick to holding and trading known, verified coins. They have BTC, ETH, maybe go crazy from time to time and buy a shitcoin like Doge when they feel like it may get pumped by some influencer, that's it.
The other kind is a bounty hunter that does not verify. That bounty hunter jumps into every single project without even knowing what it's about. The only thing these guys care about is the money they can make from it. They jump into the water, not knowing its depth or temperature, thinking there's a treasure waiting for them, but often it's just an old shoe, or a shark ready to bite.

Believe me when I say it, claiming airdrops is one step forward, two steps back. You think you're ahead one month and then someone cheats you the next.

You should add a third kind. They only focus on Bitcoin and consider every other coin to be shitcoins or a best not worth investing in, and that includes even coins which are in the top 5 or 10 on cointracking websites.

All this complications are reasons why I don't like doing shitcoins or Altcoins and I prefer stable coins like Bitcoin and airdrops is one thing that I really don't think would easily move me because I would rather prefer to acquire than be given as a gift.

On the other hand, people should learn how to treat everyone in the internet as a suspect and deal extremely careful with everyone as long as internet is involved and there is one thing I always tell people that, he didn't run with a one thousand dollar deal, doesn't mean he can't run with a ten thousand dollars deal, hence internet security should be taken too personal.

The hype is on and the risk is getting higher, having that huge airdrop can be a big reward but you have to be more careful because hackers are just waiting for the best opportunity for them to get your money, if there's a chance to receive the airdrop better to take profit right away. There's a lot of potential airdrop now because of $ARB hype, no one can tell if they will do the same, some hunters are willing to take the risk while me I'm just waiting for the price drop because I buy, I usually wait for their exchange listing which I can say is more safe.

Yeah, I've seen those people that have been scammed by those fake extension of ARB airdrop. That's why don't be greedy guys.

If the airdrop was done, it's already done and there will be new extensions of it unless it's coming from the actual officials and developers of the project.

I think the huge ones are profitable because the recent ARB airdrop was probably worth $1000 and it has only cost you hundreds to do the tasks plus the time and effort, but probably worth it. Seed phrase or private keys are not the problem but likely phishing sites. I am not fan of airdrops too but if it's huge and profitable I didn't hesitate to do so.

I remember the UNI airdrop before. After their official airdrop, there were so many scam sites trying to lure people because of the hype surrounding it.
Many are trying to claim it after it exploded in the market. Those who got it really got their luck of their lifetime.
Now, with the new hype, there's no doubt, scammers are on the loose again trying to bait naive users.
People should always validate the site they are visiting as scammers will try their best to screw people to pocket money as much as they can.

Those hidden links will become a nightmare for those who are hungry for airdrops. That was a trick, a series of links, and in the end, it give them a way to access your wallet freely.
That is something we need to think of and must be aware of the situation that scams are everywhere. It is another new trend of scams, we never know what they gonna do next. I guess, they better stay away from airdrops and besides, they are not worth spending our time.

Noticed this for a long time. Basically and earlier did not pass on the left links. But now  has become more attentive and cautious. And thanks for the warning, maybe it will help beginners and they will be more attentive

The random airdrops that are all over social media asking you to like, tweet or retweets are not worth it as some of the airdrop tokens you'll get will never get listed and for those that get listed won't be worth anything at the end of the day.

The only airdrops now worth your time requires you to do more task that has to do with you interacting with the platforms directly and that involves some few dollars as you just said so they aren't free.

Many typical airdrop hustlers don't have that few dollars which is why they miss out on this huge airdrop that pays thousands of dollars. Also most of them don't know how to interact with this Platforms/blockchain to be eligible for the airdrop.

Or one could just avoid airdrops together. The security and privacy risk one is exposed to by trying out multiple airdrops is not worth the tokens they give out as rewards.
The time completing those tasks and creating different social accounts can be applied to some other endeavor which would be more rewarding.

I don't think it's a problem participating in airdrop, it's just that we have to use another wallet and don't use the main wallet, thereby minimizing the risk, because I'm still actively participating in the current airdrop (since ARB success) and of course I'm using a new wallet which is specifically for participating in airdrop.

If all participants had also anticipated the possible risk and are able to do as you said, then never I see it wrong. Unfortunately, many participants don't think about nor care about their main wallet but rather focus on what they get from airdrops.
Yes, there is no wrong in participating in airdrops as I was doing it in the past but never did it again after wasting my time while just only getting shitcoins. ARB is successful with their airdrops and it was good to hear that but I hope they can sell them at a good price because as we can see, it is dropping badly.
