Based on his bankroll roll size, He just rarely bet like this because it’s almost half of his bankroll. It’s very hard to consistently win on Blackjack so he might get busted immediately if he is betting that huge percentage too frequent. I assume that he just try to bet full table at that time which explain the reason why he is recording the beginning of his bet. He knew that he is betting huge and not normal which is why he wants to record it to share.

If that is his normal bet, He will not bothered to record a 250$ bet because many players bet more than that on a single sit. FYI he is obviously not a professional by placing that bet size in proportion to his bankroll. Pro blackjack player usually bet only an amount that can withstand a 20 or more lose streak.
