With only 11 activities and one merit since I joined bitcointalk in January, 2023, I am currently faced with the dilemma on focusing on bitcointalk in other to learn/earn, but my current job is so exhausting that it takes virtually all my time.

Bitcointalk is the in-thing, but it requires time and efforts to grow and my Job do not give me enough time. My Job is more like 24hrs Job were I can be called to duty when I am resting/sleeping.

Do I quit my Job for Bitcointalk? (This is running through my mind)

My Job pays less that $300 a Month.

I am in a serious dilemma.

I need some motivating advice on what to do.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

It's not a good idea to leave ones job solely to focus on this forum or rather invest in bitcoin.

Investing in bitcoin should be something you keep as a side hustle that will yield on a long run.
Know that investing in crypto requires patience, know the dos and don't involve before investing.

Don't leave your current job please

You can have your job and still create some post here it doesn't stops you from work rather you can as well utilize every single moment of your time to post here. Maybe you can talk things about your work here whether your services could be needed here who knows. Then lastly quiting your job doesn't guaranteed you start making money from this forum all less you have a service to offer, and you getting hired depends on the quality of your job in your service board otherwise I will advise do not quite but you can use your current job to take good care of yourself and that of your family.

So always utilize your spare time over here than quitting your job. Besides there's nothing to wary about merits, you are still new here and there are still time for you to learn and study the forum. So take time study here to know the rules and regulations before taking any necessary or unnecessary action that may affect your living.

However move this topic to meta board or beginner and help section Let's try our best to keep the forum as pure as snow to reduce the task from admin/mods.

The question for me is, do you already know or learn something that you think Bitcointalk can generate income from. And I don't think Bitcointalk is the best option for generating your regular income other than having a regular job and salary from a company, and this forum is more suitable as an extra or side income because income is not always there.
It's best to think and reconsider before you make a decision and do research on this forum as a whole because you can still do both if you can find one that suits you and without compromise too, because having a steady job is very important, because it's your steady income that won't go away.

I believe this post from Lucius should be the answer that you seek.
The forum should not be a place for making money, it should only be something that comes as an additional thing in the process of information exchange and discussion.

Op, on a more serious note, even if you manage to gain the 1000 merits needed for the legendary rank you still have to wait up to a year or two before you can attain the required activity another thing you should take note of is f there's no guarantee that this forum signature is going to last forever, and you depending solely on this forum as your source of living is a very risky thing too.

You should keep your job and create some time for you to learn a new digital skill, that way you can open a service thread here and also sign up on some other freelancing websites and get paid for your skills.

It's too drastic and you're likely to drain your savings. I suggest to look for the middle ground aproach first.

I would say, why don't you try to find a better day job? one which doesn't take too much of your time so you can still upskill on the side?

What actually is your job here in Bitcointalk I checked your posts and you do not have a thread in the service section offering your service, but you are a good poster are you targeting to be a signature campaign participant, signature campaign, is a good sideline but do it out of passion not because you want it to be your main job, although you can.

Quote
My Job pays less that $300 a Month. I am in a serious dilemma.

I need some motivating advice on what to do.

Don't leave your job yet if it is a stable job that pays you continuously just allocate an hour or 2, that amount of time is enough to post constructively, but do it out of passion and don't force a living out of it, when you reach a level that you are qualified to a signature campaign that's the time to think if it is worth leaving your current job.

Even though there are signature campaigns that pay more than your job, I still wouldn't advise you of doing that. First of all, it will take you quite some time to actually achieve the rank needed to earn that kind of money (read 1+ year). 2nd, you never know what future brings and signature campaigns might be completele reomoved, or traffic on this forum might drop so much that it won't be interesting to advertisers anymore.

What I would suggest you to do is to edcuate yourself, learn new skills that will open you to a possibility of a better job, while being active on this forum so maybe one day you can earn some extra money from it.

Getting to Hero rank and being able to join campaigns that pay $400 a month is going to take you a year and a half easily. By then the campaigns may pay less or have disappeared as the colleague who commented above said.

Even if your job sucks, I think the question to ask yourself would be, do you have a couple of years of salary saved up so you can survive without working by focusing on the forum? It looks like you don't, otherwise you wouldn't be in a shitty job for $300 a month.

You see our opinion is unanimous.

Thats how jobs work. Being employed myself, I can understand your feelings. But I still take my time and browse through the forum and check bitcoin's price every day for keeping myself updated with any major changes.

Why would you quit your job? What service can you offer to the forum being a newbie yourself? Ask yourself because you know yourself better than us.
My suggestion: Dont quit your job but also keep learning here by taking few hours daily out of your job. Not everyone is busy 24hrs mate. You can do it if you have the passion.

Looked at your profile and post history, it doesn't show that you are currently earning through the forum, are you sure you are posting with the right account?

If it's enough to guarantee it's longterm work, you really don't have to think hard enough to decide. Just take $300. If enough time is left, you can "work" on this forum once in a while. In some areas of my country, even $100 is sufficient for a family's needs.

Why would anyone quit their job for bitcointalk? if you are taking the forum as a money-making machine, I'm sure you will end up earning nothing but a few hundred bucks. Rather, take the forum as a resource for learning about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. That will help you a lot. Quitting the job for bitcointalk is the worst decision. You can try to find a new job.

If you're happy with your current job, why you must shift to Bitcointalk in order to earn from signature campaign?

Currently there's no campaign accept Newbie or Jr. Member, you can only join bounties but I can give a guarantee your current job is better than bounties.

Let's say you're want to join a signature campaign when you're already a Full Member, the average payment is $40/week or $160/month, yep you can increase your rank to get better pay rate, but do you think there's always a slot for the next rank?

I need some motivating advice on what to do.

to be honest, I have experienced a dilemma like what you are experiencing right now, I once worked as a broker in a gold brokerage company, but because of the erratic working hours and the pressure that disturbed my mentality, I decided to leave there and focus on forums and taking care of my family.

you yourself have to decide (whether you want to continue working there while remaining active in this forum or leave your job and be active in this forum) because there is no 100% correct suggestion because we have different problems and pressures in life.

BIG WINNER!

I do not advise you to leave your job before you have established your footing well in the forum. You must take into account that you may have a long time before you get income from the forum, in addition to that income is not fixed, so you must slow down before leaving the job.

In your free time, you can work in the forum and try to learn and write so that you can upgrade your rank with time, then when you start earning money from the forum, you can leave the job if it is tiring or with little return, or you can continue (both work) together and get a good income.

With only 11 activities and one merit since I joined bitcointalk in January, 2023, I am currently faced with the dilemma on focusing on bitcointalk in other to learn/earn, but my current job is so exhausting that it takes virtually all my time.
You are torn between doing your passion or goal and making a living, but our priority is the one that brings the food to our table, you did not mention the job that you say virtually takes all your time, but you need not be in hurry to build your reputation here, go slow and go sure, you'll eventually arrive to your goal because it's your passion.

Quote
Bitcointalk is the in-thing, but it requires time and efforts to grow and my Job do not give me enough time. My Job is more like 24hrs Job were I can be called to duty when I am resting/sleeping.
You don't need to post 5 posts daily go for quality, 2 quality posts beats ten posts go for posts that will acquire merits

Do I quit my Job for Bitcointalk? (This is running through my mind)

My Job pays less that $300 a Month.

I am in a serious dilemma.

I need some motivating advice on what to do.

Nobody will advise you to quit your job the only advice that I can give you is to go for quality, 2 to 5 posts a week
is enough until you build your reputation and rank up to qualify you on a signature campaign if that's your goal or if you have service to offer 1 client a week is already good until you can build your portfolio.

Do I quit my Job for Bitcointalk? (This is running through my mind)
You can look for another job that would not be as demanding as your current job, and if you are successful in finding it, then you can quit your current job for it, this will give you more time to yourself to enjoy life with family and your friends. If you are working for almost 24 hours a day, soon you will break down physically and mentally and all your work would be for nothing. What i just said has nothing to do with quitting your job to write more often on this forum.

Now if you get a job that is less demanding, you can now learn skills, build a business, or have enough time to learn about BTC and discuss with other members in this forum, so you may rank up and earn from the forum, while still working. But if you want to quit your current job because you feel you can earn more on this forum, then ask yourself these:

1)Are you sure you have the knowledge to ever rank up high here.
2)Are you sure that if you spend years ranking up, you would be able to join a campaign that will last for a very long time.
3)Are you sure your account would not be hacked someday and it takes you a very long time to recover it.
4)Are you sure campaign earnings will be sufficient for you if you truly rank up someday.

The answers to these questions will help you to decide on what you should do!

Do I quit my Job for Bitcointalk? (This is running through my mind)

My Job pays less that $300 a Month.

You still need 109 activity points to become a full member and only then can you expect some kind of income from this forum. It takes at least 109 days, which is close to 4 months. can you endure that much without the current $300/m salary? even after that with the Full member rank, you will hardly reach that amount.
it's probably a win-win situation if you can keep your existing job and slowly upgrade your account here. it will definitely pay off at some point, but not immediately and instantly.

What matters, OP, is your physical and mental health, like Z-tight said, though he didn't stress it, but I think it should be elaborated more as the cause of your dilemma. Not the forum nor your job. Take some time to rest your head and stop thinking of multiple things at once. Many people have lost it all by working all day, even those who made plenty of money ended up being fed up from doing such work. I think you should spend few time with family and discuss often with friends. When your head calms down and you think you can do other things then join the forum. I do believe that they must be some free time for every busy person. So, use those time and focus on your health, because writing is not easy and it's the backbone of this forum; consistent quality write-up. In such situations as yours quiting the job won't solve the problem, everyone already told you how far it take before you make a dime here. Don't take a risk you can't withstand, find a way to look for jobs elsewhere, once you land a new job, you can move away from the time exhausting work safely.

I believe this post from Lucius should be the answer that you seek.

You have a good memory, I wrote it more than half a year ago, but I still think that every member should stick to it, because otherwise you could get into big trouble. Campaigns come and go, today they are still possible, but tomorrow they may be banned.

That's a long time, which can seem even longer if rank is your only goal. However, merits will be a much bigger obstacle for the majority, especially if there are less and less active merit sources that will reward quality posts.
