At first, one of my friends from university introduced me Bitcoin. If I didn't meet him my life would be very different now. He helped me a lot. His guidance through Bitcoin and Blockchain technology helped me so much in life. After that I told about Bitcoin to my cousins and close friends. Some of them traded Bitcoin a bit and left. Some keep buying and holding it. But as far as I observe, people are less interested with technology but more interested with profits.

It often happens when people lose money and no matter how well they learned what they invested money in, the first thing they will think about after losing money is that it is a scam. But in the case of bitcoin, many people begin to think and return, because they see that for many years it has not gone anywhere, the bubble has not burst, bitcoin is still on the market, large funds and states are investing in it, and it is constantly growing in price.
Yeah but this time their excuse is different, its the high price and I do agree for the third world countries affording to buy One bitcoin full is a tough nut. Even if I try to explain that fractions are there because of this reason, they have a certain affinity to the ownership of a whole number of bitcoin. You cant change this mentality by yourself but allow them to learn their mistake, eventually they will end up doing it on their own.

However the same stories surrounding bitcoin are still existing and the same conspiracies are still running which shows that it is a just a group of people trying to make themselves look important and therefore should be ignored by no-coiners.

I call bullshit on this story, and 90% of other stories ever posted on this forum.

Call me skeptic but it's hard enough for 1 person to introduce another person to Bitcoin in real life, and then the person you teach spells Blockchain with a capital B, and then goes to tell all his cousins and close friends, and none of them got mad at him when prices now crashed?

You admit yourself people are more interested in profits, including yourself, but where are all your angry/confused cousins and friends you supposedly told?

Many years ago, there were a number of my relatives who knew about Bitcoin, but they were talking about it in front of me as if it was something somewhat unknown or mysterious; after that, it was fortunate that I gained the friendship of a friend of mine on Facebook from Bangladesh, and this young man was like a teacher for me as he helped me a lot to educate myself and gain experience to enter this field, and after this spark that he gave me, I was able to light my life with Bitcoin investments, and by getting to know this great forum, and through various discussions and through YouTube and books that I read I was able to start dealing with Bitcoin, and I am still proud that just as a friend helped me to get involved in this profitable field, I never skimped in advance on someone from my relatives, friends, or people I do not know with information, recommendations, and guidance.

I hope this will be useful for those who still store bitcoins on the exchange, you should think about security and hold your coins on hardware wallets.
I had shared my stories many times, but in small, important parts specific to that OP's post. But for you, I have, like, maybe the same answer, that I spent much time on crypto back in 2018 and left it due to a lack of knowledge, but in 2020, I saw a WhatsApp status of my University Fellow (he shared a pic of his wallet with money), and I was like, really, crypto is real! like I have got many questions in my mind because, back in 2018, I was frustrated by scammy websites and left it by saying there was nothing in it. Well, when i saw his status pic and asked him and he said yes it is real and you can make do it too. It's not that tough well he started to give me online classes on Zoom for free (because he lives in another city and due to covid we could not meet).

This was my small story of how I got into the crypto sphere. After that, I got to know about this forum, and then I started to read and learn. I even made a website about crypto, (in which I share whatever I learn about blockchain and BTC and how things work). Well, that did not benefit me, but it was a great experience. (Note: Actually, I got traffic but it was not approved by AdSense, so there was no money in it and I needed it, so I left the website and moved to the affiliate website.)

Talking about your gift of the ledger, I should give you an extra tip. That, buying a hardware wallet from a third party could cost you all of your savings. I know ledgers are highly secure, but if you bought them from a person who knows some coding, then your wallet is not secure, so I think it's wise to ask your uncle about the origin of this gift. You can read this topic about what I said.

My brother introduced me to this forum, and the first thing he taught me was how to make money from airdrops, social media, and signature campaigns which was a lucrative business for me. Later on, he taught me about selling those coins and investing in bitcoin which I am still into to date, he has been my adviser with investing on this forum.

I wouldn't know if any of my relatives knows or deals with bitcoin because i have never heard or had such discussion with them before.
I first heard about bitcoin from a close friend then i thought it was nothing serious or something that will not be useful or profitable.
As time goes on, a friend again came to me and said much about bitcoin that i should try and invest on it. So he thought me everything i need to know about bitcoin and today am happy about it.

I hope this will be useful for those who still store bitcoins on the exchange, you should think about security and hold your coins on hardware wallets.
This is the best advice, it is never a good idea to store or leave our bitcoin investments on the exchange, Many of us who have been in this for a long time now had no body to advice us, we had to learn the hard way, anybody on this forum who is an OG would remember a cryptocurrency exchange called Cryptopia, I lost more than 85 percent of my bitcoin holding on that exchange when it was hacked, this exchange was my fav at the time, I used the exchange as a wallet, kept all my coins on this exchange which consist of bitcoin and some other major altcoins, I lost everything when the exchange was hacked .

I must admit you have a great uncle, and i hope you look out properly for him, also encourage him to join this forum as i believe there is alot to learn, and also learn from him, the gift of a hardware wallet is the best gift, i wish i had some one to give me such a gift .

One of my early threads which I made mentioned how I came to know about bitcoin. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5399845.msg60204521#msg60204521, it was a seminar but I didn't get everything there  until a friend of mine introduced me to this forum to learn more about bitcoin since I was inquisitive to know bitcoin. Anyone that come in contact with bitcoin will not regret. Because it is the best place to invest, trade other business activities.

Non of my relatives know what is bitcoin, but I am teaching them now to understand the concept of bitcoin and it uses so that communication about bitcoin will be fluently. But five of my friends are bitcoin masters. I learnt it from them and still learning from them as well for anything that I don't know, I would asked them then they would tell me.

Most of my friends have cryptocurrency portfolio which I never expected. I came to know about it in a recent meet-up. In specific friends working on the IT industry have it more commonly. The shocking thing happened an year back when I got opportunity to meet a friend of friend. He tried to talk about cryptocurrency and later we had good discussion and he showed his portfolio which is really huge and completely unexpected. This guy used to travel to different countries and he stated it as the reason how he got introduced to cryptocurrencies.

Some of my friends are investors of cryptocurrency but I never wanted to encourage those who are not especially my relatives. Reason? exposing them to risk. Ofcourse they should have the initiative to do so, but what I am worried about is to be blamed afterwards especially if things won't work out as they have expected. The market itself is unpredictable and prices could fall down in an instant.  Given that you are a relative to them, you'd be somehow responsible of their action especially if you're the one who somewhat encouraged them. So everytime some of them are asking I either not encourage them or change the topic for them to seek curiousity for themselves than to be exposed because of my presence.

Everyone won't take it positive, and many doesn't understand it easily. This is gonna be real troublesome. When they're in need if the market is downturn they'll start worrying. I've explained it to my relatives along with the risks. Some request me to buy for them. I never get into such business, I just direct them to the market exchange where you've got everything required. Even the demonstration to buy is available. Even one of my friend who have got good knowledge about technology argues not to invest and he never understand it. So, it is also difficult task to educate people who hadn't got knowledge about technology.

Being or getting blamed is the main reason on why i dont really tend to share up this crypto opportunity among others or even into my relatives because i dont really like that the would really be blaming me on the time that they are seeing their portfolio is on reds.I have that bad experience on the time i had explained it to my cousin and on the time comes where the market did make some -20% on his portfolio then
he had been speaking bad things about me and blaming me out. After that, i didnt tend to explain it out on the time that someone do ask out about it because
i dont like to experience the same thing again.

This is the same reason why I am super hesitant to share or encourage any of my family to deal with cryptocurrency investment. It is a risky investment and they tend to just focus on getting the profit. It is also hard to explain that you should be investing what you can afford to lose. It is also a waiting game for you to get the profit that you want. It is hard to be blamed when you gave advice regarding your assessment in the economy since it is your personal. They should have their own assessment so that the only thing that they could blame is theirselves.

My story is same as your story. I came to know about Bitcoin from my friend. My friend knew very well about Bitcoin and always encouraged me to invest in Bitcoin. He guided me fully on how to trade and registered on the exchange himself. Introduced all aspects of trading and taught me how to buy and sell everything through p2p.I have achieved a lot of success with Bitcoin today because of that guy.  Back then very few people knew about Bitcoin, but now a days everyone knows about Bitcoin. Now I am also encouraging many people to invest in Bitcoin, so that they are not unemployed.

Im also thankful on someone who had introduced me about this forum and this time i do able to learn about Bitcoins existence which it did really give out that vast idea about on how it works, not only limited on Bitcoin itself but also into other altcoins as well which it did really end up on affecting my life when it comes to earning opportunities which it did really bring up convenience at the same time i do able to buy up things
that i do want but of course im not really that earning that much but im really thriving to have that kind of consideration when it comes to enhancing even more.
Sharing up the opportunity about Bitcoin and entire crypto wont really be that a bad idea.

I thought about the same thing, I wanted to explain to my father that buying bitcoin could bring him profit, but I did not dare to this conversation. My biggest fear is that when he buys bitcoin on my advice, the price will start to fall and I will feel guilty, even if my father doesn’t tell me about it, I’m sure he will think that I dragged him into something risky. I'd rather buy alone and when my investment brings me a good return, I can take care of my parents if necessary.

At first, Bitcoin never meant anything special to me because I have a negative thoughts about it and always think it's a scam.
However, after learning about it and discuss it with others, I decide to learn more about bitcoin and began some research. After I had my satisfaction, I decided to buy a small amount of bitcoin, and in the end, I realized that bitcoin was something special, and if you know how to do it, you can make a lot of money.
My friends are aware of bitcoin, and none of them have purchased. I want to persuade them to do so because, as a young person, purchasing bitcoin is important in one's life because you need alternative in life, you don't have to depend on one source of investment.

I discovered bitcoin through another online forum, we were simply talking about possible investments and one guy brought up bitcoin, and the more he talked about it, the more I found it fascinating. I remember I told some of my friends about it but no one was actually interested, years later a few of them told me they deeply regretted not buying when we talked about bitcoin. For many people cryptos are a very complicated thing and they don't even try to learn and understand a bit more, they just give up since the very beginning.

I learned about bitcoin from my friend, he trades, I knew about it for a long time, but it did not attract my attention. Somehow we talked with him on this topic and he told me what bitcoin is, I was very interested in it, he also told me that there are many different altcoins. Before that, I had only heard about bitcoin and possibly ether, but I had no idea that there were so many different altcoins.

He explained to me how to register on the exchange, how to buy and sell, everything was clear and I started trading a little, at first my friend helped me, then I started doing it myself. I always kept all my coins on the exchange.

Once my uncle came to visit us, and I accidentally saw that he was looking at the charts on his smartphone, I asked him and it turned out that he was also involved in cryptocurrencies. We talked a bit about cryptocurrencies that evening, I was excited that my uncle also buys bitcoin, because before that I had doubts whether it was good to buy cryptocurrencies, because I know that my father does not take it seriously.

It was from my uncle that I learned not to store coins on the exchange, and later my uncle gave me a ledger, it was the coolest present for my birthday. It was thanks to him that I learned that you need hold coins correctly, safety is above all, and that Bitcoin should be the main investment.

A little later when I was looking for more information about bitcoin and accidentally found this forum, by the way my uncle and my friend heard about this forum but they are not registered here. And I liked how everything is arranged here, there is a lot of information here and there is a large cryptocurrency community here. There are also ranks, you can grow, it's like a game where you need to reach levels.

Now I store my bitcoins only on a hardware wallet and after reading a lot of topics, I realized that this is one of the most reliable ways. So far, my investment is not as big as I would like it to be, but I am still young, I have a lot of time and I am inspired, because I see great opportunities in this, I can buy bitcoin in small parts, and this will be my investment in the future.

I recently read a thread where investing in bitcoin is compared to a young tree that takes a few years to start fruiting, this is a very good comparison, I will project it on my investments and hope that everything works out.

I hope this will be useful for those who still store bitcoins on the exchange, you should think about security and hold your coins on hardware wallets.

There are few of my friends who hold cryptocurrencies but on an exchange. They don't hold much which is the reason why they hold it on an exchange and not in a hardware wallet.
It's good that you are holding your coins in a hardware wallet and yes that's the safest place to hold the coins in.
Keep learning more on this forum as it has a vast amount of knowledge and keep posting. This is surely a motivational post for others.
