Meanwhile, Josh Taylor's rival Jack Catterall just signed with Matchroom Boxing. He is looking forward to shaking the dust off being also inactive for a year after delayed negotiations and cancellations to the supposed rematch with Josh Taylor. He also believed Teofimo Lopez will win over Josh. Although his prediction might be biased, he might be annoyed with Josh knowing most of the public thought he won the belts and then comes his inactivity after hoping for the rematch to happen.

Josh Taylor on the other hand seemed to be too confident despite his inactivity and poor performance in his last fight against Catterall. I can feel that he is belittling Teofimo Lopez's ability to win as he is predicting the big possibility of him taking out Teofimo in the early rounds.

That's not unusual, especially for undefeated boxers. He has the right to say whatever he wants, given his decent record, and as long as he remains undefeated, he can claim whatever he needs to elevate himself further. I hope his statement will motivate Lopez to train harder, so that we as fans can fully enjoy this big fight.

I would not say that Josh Taylor will definitely be the top contender for me in this match because Teofimo Lopez seems to have the upper hand in physical health. The extent of Josh Taylor's plantar fascia injury to the arch of his foot is being kept "undisclosed". The severity of the tear makes me doubt he will be able to keep on his feet as in the past. Especially because they refuse to talk about how bad the injury really was. Pain management alone will not be sufficient to keep up with Lopez's footwork. So far I see a red flag in betting on Taylor, which I would do if he was in top-fit-condition...

For sure the management wouldn't allow their boxer to suffer from disadvantage and to just lose like that, especially with an undefeated record. They'd more likely make sure things are okay because  this would be a big fight and is not something between two no-namer fighters. Lopez on the other hand even threw a claim that he would be knocking down Taylor, which clearly shows that he's confident with this fight. But in this fight I think Lopez has a bigger heart to come up a winner because he's the underdog, to climb the ranks and to open up a bigger opportunity if ever he would win this thing. Taylor is more likely not letting his rank slide especially because of a disadvantage, that easy. Would be interesting given how fast their careers have grown for a short period of time, in comparison with other fighters, simply showing how talented these boxers are. But still, I'd go with Lopez whom I think has a bigger drive.

Those are just rumors, though. He is fighting, and he has to make sure he is 100% ready to go toe to toe in the ring. If he has an undisclosed injury, that's not right because it's like he's robbing the fans, especially the bettors, who think that he is going to give his 100% to defeat Teofimo Lopez.

However, thanks to @goldkingcoiner for bringing that info. Although it's just a rumor, at least we know something about him that we can consider when making a decision on whom to bet.

But will Josh Taylor or at least his camp will allow him to fight even if they know that his injury is severe? I doubt that, so this fight is going to happen because Josh Taylor is 100% healed already. I'm not sure why it is undisclosed when we all know that he had foot injury already and they have sign the contract and go and lay his belt against Lopez in this fight. And I guess Taylor will still be the favorite here, he is the champion and once the king of this division because he held all the belt at one time. For sure there are things that they don't want to go to the public, but I guess the doctors are not going to give Taylor a clean bill of health and fight if he is not healthy.

Good, I think at this point, whether US or London based fighters, Matchroom has done so much with it's fighter and we have to commend Eddie Hearn. Not sure if I heard it that he will be fighting Prograis next and the schedule is May 27? or his opponent is not name yet?

Most likely his confident is based on the fact that he has face tougher opponents in the 140 lbs, like Ramirez, Prograis and even Catterall himself. And Teo has no business in 140 lbs. And base on Teo's fight, I don't think he has carry his power to this new division, just saying.

this is one good match , and I also like to see Taylor taking over Lopez though the Odd is close according to my research and following taylor recently.
Taylor's injury happened long time and I believe that he is completely healed and ready to fight but of course this is the only advantage Lopez has against this great boxer.
so Taylor for me but the vote is close and seems to be good to watch and bet for  excitement .

I agree. Matchroom is probably the biggest promoter right now and it is partnered with DAZN which probably remained to have the biggest budget in boxing. Catterall's next opponent is still unnamed and the fight happens next month. So I believe it is a stay-busy fight after his long layoff.

And about the WBC champion Regis Prograis. I heard its promoter Probellum ceased operations. So it seems like Bob Arum of Top Rank was serious about Probellum's links to the Irish syndicate family, the Kinahans. Richard Schaefer, the boss of Probellum has now assumed as the new president of Anthem Sports Group. Schaefer said that it will continue to promote Nonito Donaire and Eimantas Stanionis. Not mentioning Regis' name means the champ is probably a free agent by now. Hopefully, Regis goes to Top Rank if he wants to mix it up with the big names Taylor, Lopez, Ramirez, and maybe Haney if the plan to move up materializes.

Josh Taylor on the other hand seemed to be too confident despite his inactivity and poor performance in his last fight against Catterall. I can feel that he is belittling Teofimo Lopez's ability to win as he is predicting the big possibility of him taking out Teofimo in the early rounds.

Yeah, prime for prime at 140, Teofimo Lopez is not even near the level of Josh Taylor. But the inactivity of Taylor and difficulty making the weight which probably leads to his poor performance against Catterall might have made this fight 60-40 or even 55-45.

His injury status is already a public knowledge so his is not concealing it from the fans including the bettors. According to the interview with skyspots.com

So he has come public to say he is not ready to rush into a fight until he is confirmed good.

^^ But fight is already confirmed, and since both of them are with Top Rank, same stable, then it's easy to made the fight. And most likely this what influence Josh to cancel his fight with Catterall or at least their rematch. It's not that he doesn't want to fight him, but Top Rank see it as a huge risk if they lost and so is the belt.

And in this case, if Teo upset Josh, the belt is still with Bob Arum, so anyone chasing Lopez and the belt, he has the leverage. That's how good and cunning Bob Arum is, all in house money for him in this fight and assurance that they will have everything whoever win in this fight. And who knows, there could be rematch too.

I think this is a bigger fight that Jack Catterall though, and maybe it's the right move for him. This fight is in the US, and hopefully Taylor should be exposed there, he is the undisputed 140 lbs and some of us forget that because he chooses to fight in the UK after unification with Ramirez. If he could just chosen a US boxer, it could be a different outcome and maybe he doesn't have to vacate some of his belts and retain them and then defend it to their mandatory. So this is a comeback fight, on the other hand Teo will have a lot of his plate at this new division.

The fight with Jack Catterall is on his hometown of Scotland, I think he just wanted to show his fans after winning all the belts. But Jack is a very difficult opponent for him, maybe as mentioned, he has a hard time making the weight at 140 lbs and it could be one factor in the fight. However, Jack really delivers one of his best performance to almost upset Josh in his hometown. It's almost back fire on him though.

But here it will be in Madison Square Garden if I'm not mistaken so Teo has the advantage because he has a lot of fans here.

So we will see the big mouth Teo here if he can back up his trash talking as he said that he will tear up Taylor more than what Jack did.

Teofimo is a colorful fighter so he will continue to thrash-talk Taylor it's his way ever since, he is so confident I hope not too confident because he is facing a well-skilled fighter the crowd will just boost Teofimo's morale because we all know thrash talkers thrive on this if they are being cheered they will continue to thrash talks and in the actual fight they can be reckless because fighters like him, like to entertain the crowd, that could sometimes backfire like what happen in the Kambosos fight, I just hope he learned his lesson from the Kambosos fight.

He will have to performed at his best, just like when he upset Lomachenko back then. However, in his last fight against Sandor Martin, it was just a split decision win for him and he could have lost the fight.

So he can talk smuck as much as he want, but definitely Josh Taylor is not going to back down to the challenge because he is the champion. And better be Lopez back his trash talking, this is 140 lbs division, one of the top premier weight class. So it takes more than to trash talk your opponents here.

Correct, that is surely his rights because he managed to carve himself a name in the industry and reach the position he have now without any scathes on his records. To be honest, I can't help but agree with JT's statement towards Teo because he is indeed talented enough to back-up his words while the latter isn't that much of a threat and what he did was to defeat boxers who was injured, just like what he did when he was still at 135 and managed to have himself 3 belts, and that's why he got defeated when he faced an aggressive and healthy boxer, Kambosos Jr.

I can actually feel that Josh Taylor is more eager and really yearning to win. It seems like he isn't just confident to win this match but also well-prepared to prove himself in the ring more. Despite having poor performances previously, I guess he's willing to make a better record in this upcoming fight. I hope he wouldn't miss an opportunity to do better and to establish a promising record this time.

Yes, that's the word. More eager and hungrier compared to Teofimo Lopez and honestly, I'm really not convinced that Teo can somehow make a way to upset the former undisputed champion because his skills and talent is surely not enough in-front of Josh Taylor. Moreover, I believe Josh is on a campaign again to have the belts back that was once under his possession and Teo cannot do anything to prevent that from happening.

It's interesting to note though that Regis Prograis, the WBC champion in the 140 lbs is already a free agent. He used to be under Probellum, but we all know that the boxing outfit or at least most of it's boxers have bee taken by Disrupt Promotions, except maybe for Donaire and Eimantas Stanionis who remain who remain with Richard Schaefer.

And with that, we might see a possible scenario that Prograis might fight the winner of this fight, or at least will go for any unification in this division as Taylor only held one belt (WBO) and it will be on the line against Lopez.

I just saw Teo and JT's slight trashtalk in an interview and it's evident enough for me to see that Josh Taylor doesn't have any fears in his upcoming fight against Teo, he was just too confident that Teo can't do a difference in that fight which is understandable because he is still undefeated and a former undispted champion.

While Teo was just speaking nonsense and talking that he will defeat Josh with a statement because he is the greatest in the industry now and it's already predicted as that's what the greatest will do. Quite funny I would say because I can see that he was just bluffing because he already probably know the difference of their power and he's just trying to mess with Josh in the head. But JT didn't took the bait, as expected.
