It's interesting to note though that Regis Prograis, the WBC champion in the 140 lbs is already a free agent. He used to be under Probellum, but we all know that the boxing outfit or at least most of it's boxers have bee taken by Disrupt Promotions, except maybe for Donaire and Eimantas Stanionis who remain who remain with Richard Schaefer.

And with that, we might see a possible scenario that Prograis might fight the winner of this fight, or at least will go for any unification in this division as Taylor only held one belt (WBO) and it will be on the line against Lopez.

I just saw Teo and JT's slight trashtalk in an interview and it's evident enough for me to see that Josh Taylor doesn't have any fears in his upcoming fight against Teo, he was just too confident that Teo can't do a difference in that fight which is understandable because he is still undefeated and a former undispted champion.

While Teo was just speaking nonsense and talking that he will defeat Josh with a statement because he is the greatest in the industry now and it's already predicted as that's what the greatest will do. Quite funny I would say because I can see that he was just bluffing because he already probably know the difference of their power and he's just trying to mess with Josh in the head. But JT didn't took the bait, as expected.

Haven't seen that but obviously, we all know how Teofimo's mouth is, it was very evident when he defeated Loma and he multiply his trash talking when he fought Kambosos, most likely it's because of his confidence win against Loma that time and he thinks he is the best boxer and a crowd drawer. But Kambosos put him in the right place when he defeated that big mouth of Teofimo and his father.

But since he is on 2 winning streak, albeit against low key fighters and he didn't fare good in his last fight, still though he chooses where he is good at, trash talking his opponent. But JT is not going to back down because he has the tools and has been a undisputed in this division wherein Lopez is just trying to make his name.

I think this is a bigger fight that Jack Catterall though, and maybe it's the right move for him. This fight is in the US, and hopefully Taylor should be exposed there, he is the undisputed 140 lbs and some of us forget that because he chooses to fight in the UK after unification with Ramirez. If he could just chosen a US boxer, it could be a different outcome and maybe he doesn't have to vacate some of his belts and retain them and then defend it to their mandatory. So this is a comeback fight, on the other hand Teo will have a lot of his plate at this new division.

The fight with Jack Catterall is on his hometown of Scotland, I think he just wanted to show his fans after winning all the belts. But Jack is a very difficult opponent for him, maybe as mentioned, he has a hard time making the weight at 140 lbs and it could be one factor in the fight. However, Jack really delivers one of his best performance to almost upset Josh in his hometown. It's almost back fire on him though.

But here it will be in Madison Square Garden if I'm not mistaken so Teo has the advantage because he has a lot of fans here.

So we will see the big mouth Teo here if he can back up his trash talking as he said that he will tear up Taylor more than what Jack did.

Just like what Canelo is doing in his next fight, it will be in his hometown Mexico against Ryder. However, Taylor's fight almost ruin his career as it was a close fight with Jack and as what we have been saying very controversial outcome.

Same with Lopez, against Sandor Martin, he has difficulty against the bigger Martin or the natural 140 lbs. So what's more if he is going to fight the very best of this division which is the former unified champion. Taylor though as fought in the US before so I don't see Teo even if he has the advantage of fans in MSG winning here. And Scots are also fond of their boxers and going to support and maybe some of them are going to travel in the US to see this fight.

I think @Maslate was referring on this short interview: Josh Taylor & Teofimo Lopez Talk All the Trash In Tremendous Face to Face Interview

Anyway, I agree, Teofimo was just bluffing and tried to talk calmly to maintain his poise on that interview but we can certainly see how he reacts against Josh Taylor's comments to every questions. Teo was just lucky when he upsets the prime Loma because the latter got a problem before their fight, which is a shoulder injury that really took a toll in Loma's performance.

I even thought Jack Catterall was an easy fight and who knows he was probably cherry-picked by Josh Taylor for his homecoming fight. Taylor having difficulty making the weight might be the factor. But there are other things to consider, Catterall tried to trash talk and even held the neck of Taylor to get under his skin. Taylor was probably angry and was out of focus. Or the homecoming fight might have pressured him as his local fans were expecting their undisputed champion to showcase his skills.

The same with Canelo, maybe there is also pressure to perform well in his homecoming fight.

If I'm not mistaken, they are somewhat both local heroes, so they have to settle the score inside the ring. And probably that's fuel Jack Catterall or maybe he was that good to almost beat Josh Taylor during that fight. And then they avoid him by all cost in the rematch and go with Teo Lopez as this fight might be easy for Josh, style wise.

And speaking of Jack, his next fight will be against Darragh Foley at Manchester.

https://box.live/boxers/jack-catterall/

Most likely just a get busy fight for him.

That fight was supposed to be a walk in the park for the former undisputed champion but it was the opposite thing because it was a near defeat on his case as he probably underestimated Jack Catterall on that specific fight. And yes, that was probably a cherry picked fight because it's a homecoming fight but we had a different fight as Josh Taylor was struggling and I suppose he was surprised by it too.

Talking about that, will that same scenario happen again but this time against Teofimo Lopez? Because if Josh was already struggling at that fight against Catterral then maybe Teo got some decent chances to upset the champion and this may be his best fight where he will be the champion against an opponent that doesn't have any prior injuries.

Just had a wild thought though hehe, either way, I can't just disregard the fact that Josh used to dominate this division and Teo is just a mere challenger on his throne.

Don't underestimate the power of the training camp.  Although Josh Taylor sees Jack Caterall as a weak opponent, the reason he cherry-picked the guy, the intel and information of the training camp is helpful in molding the boxer and training him to counter the strategy of the opponent.  It is also possible that Josh Taylor underestimate his opponent making him to not do extra effort in training.  While on the contrary Jack Caterall trained hard and his camp gives better training and counters against Josh Taylor.  This might be the reason why Josh Taylor had difficulty beating Jack Caterall.

Just had a wild thought though hehe, either way, I can't just disregard the fact that Josh used to dominate this division and Teo is just a mere challenger on his throne.

This will be an interesting and tough fight for both fighters.  I am also seeing Josh having the advantage here as most of the odds online stated.

Training camp is the essential one for the player to train well to face the competition in the ring with more potential. Caterall is weak player compared to the Taylor for sure, But his training make the huge difference in the game. Taylor should not underestimate the opponent in any circumference. Because the weak player can K.O the powerful player at the right time by making some good practices and using their own strategies for the every opponent. When the player uses different strategies for different players, the opponent can’t find the strategy which he going to use for him. Lopez who had a capacity to win the Taylor by the practices in the training camp all the time. So this game will make huge difference in the carriers of Lopez. Lopez long waiting for this opportunity.

There could be factors that might affect Josh Taylor's performance against Jack, maybe the style of Catterall is not suited for him, or there is pressure on his shoulder to be great and make a statement win in front of his home crowd, or he didn't train that hard or underestimate his rival or even the weight is an issue on him.

Josh is the king of this division, he had all the belts and beat the champion and tough boxer. It's that Jack Catterall that night is really hard for Josh to crack but he still did his best and rise to the occasion and score although a controversial win. However, they should have learn from that fight and not let Teo Lopez open his mouth and win the mental battle.

True, I am one of those people who believe that every strategy has its counter, and so it is the most reasonable explanation why Josh Taylor had a hard time beating Jack Catterall, But even though Josh style and strategy is countered, it shows how experience and skilled boxer Josh Taylor is.  He is able to adjust and finally defeated Jack Catterall.  Most boxer would have been defeated if their fighting style was countered, only those who has high IQ and great skill can end this kind of fight in a win.

Obviously, Josh had the belt and had defended it several times. I think Josh Taylor had learned from the experience and we might see more conditioned and battle ready Josh Taylor this time.  I also think Josh Taylor will be perfectly prepared since his opponent I Teofimo Lopez and he knows that this guy is not to be underestimated.

I agree, maybe the styles of Jack Catterall is very difficult for Josh Taylor to overcome, but with his experience, he has to dig on his bag of tricks to win the fight and it was very close as we can see in the way the judges score the fight and the way fans see it.

And this time though, if their style as conflicting again, Josh will have to rise to the occasion. I don't think that Teo can adjust in the fight if he is behind the card or at least if he thinks he is looking. Just look at the Kambosos fight, he fall in love with his one punch knock out. Although he knock down Kambosos, it was too late as George has pile up points and he knock down Teo as well.

Teofimo is full of himself. It's probably the reason why he finds it hard to adjust in the middle of the fight. He's not a flexible fighter. Although he remains to be a dangerous fighter notwithstanding his split decision 10-rounder win against Sandor, it's just right that he is the underdog in this fight. Josh Taylor is probably the man in this match. Cracks are seen in the confidence of the sentimental Teofimo. He's even questioning himself now if he "still got it."

You've got a point there mate. There could be some reasons behind those fight why Josh Taylor was having a hard time cracking Catterall and the latter even managed to down him in the 8th round which is an indeed a hard task for the boxers who have fought Josh previously. That right there will be the highlights for Teo's training because not everyone could do that and I bet they are looking what are the ways to duplicate that scenario so that Teo can somehow have an advantage because looking at it closely, Teo Lopez doesn't stand any chance.

I don't consider the Caterall fight as a measure that Taylor will have a bad performance, in boxing style makes fight sometimes your opponent's style is something you can't figure out and you become disappointed which will cause you to lose the fight.

I agree. Josh Taylor's almost loss was not because he underestimated Jack Catterall or he didn't prepared as much, it's just that Caterrall's style was different from what Josh had battled before that's why in some rounds we can see Catterall dominating the fight and he even managed to knocked down Taylor somewhere in the 8th round if I'm not mistaken. Nevertheless, that fight of Josh Taylor will not be a basis and I believe Josh Taylor picked a few good lessons on that fight that will make him more dangerous against his future opponents, Teofimo Lopez, included. I'm looking forward to see both boxers having a good fight in the ring and giving the people an outstanding entertaining fight that they wanted to see.

It's always funny, and a bit annoying to listen to see Teofimo Lopez interviewed. But at least Teofimo seems to finally recognize that he is facing a fighter that is not just good but great. Earlier, Teofimo was caught on camera asking his team if he still has the fire which probably means that he starts to doubt himself especially when he is fighting the former undisputed and lineal champion of his new division.

Josh Taylor flew from the UK to Newark, New Jersey during the Stevenson-Yoshino fight because it was a big Top Rank event and he also thought that Lopez will be there to hype their fight. Lopez didn't attend though and Taylor is now bullying him online that he is a coward and he is hiding. This is probably the first time Lopez is not trash-talking his opponent since he became a world champion. Lopez seemed a little bit down mentally lately and is looking for motivation. He also hopes Loma will beat Haney. Maybe he will be motivated if Loma beats young Haney.

Probably, he was just asking someone to add his confidence but if what you said is truly the case, I'm afraid he's already in the losing side because the moment the boxer is already doubting himself is the same moment where he already knew what would be his situation and I pretty much sense that he's not seeing himself in the winner's corner.

Teo was just saying nonsense in that interview and saying how great he is when in-fact he was talking and will face the undefeated champion and a former undisputed champion, we can see that Taylor is just confident that Teo can't honestly bring him down and give his first defeat. Teo probably knew that as we can see it in his face during the interview that he was just bluffing.

It's less than 3 weeks before another big showdown of Top Rank happens. It seems like I am not seeing much of the 2 in social media, but maybe I am not following enough of the boxing media nowadays. Both are arrogant fighters so they will make a trend during fight week when both are in New York. Teofimo Lopez the more popular fighter in the US seems silent while Josh said he will retire Lopez.

And it seems like Devin Haney already re-signed with Top Rank. Top Rank earlier offered Haney (win or lose to Loma) a shot at the winner of Taylor-Lopez. So it will add more motivation for both fighters to win since their next show is once again a PPV which means big money once again.
