And again, Teo with another controversy:

But I don't think that he means that, perhaps he is hyping their upcoming fight here. No boxer wants to kill his opponent inside the ring. And most deaths happen by accident.

What do you think of Teo's statement though?

Yes, this is obvious to make the fight more hype, we all know that Teo loves controversy himself, even after he lost to Kambosos he continue to attack the system, his manager and anyone in his way.

And now that Josh Taylor is his opponent, so we will trash talk just like what he did on his previous fight. You can even see at one interview I saw in IG that he is mocking Josh Taylor's accent and then Taylor just lost it and try to walk out of the interview. So for now this is going to be a mind games for this two fighters but the real test in inside the ring. Whether Teo has what it takes to win against the very best of 140 lbs.

Teo does want to enjoy significant revenue in this fight, so he'll say anything to capture the attention of the fans. He can hype things up or use various tactics, but there should be limitations on his words. It's important not to say anything too serious that would harm his opponent. While boxing is a combat sport, it is still a sport that should be enjoyed by the fans, and we know that fans would not want to see a boxer die in the ring.

I think Josh Taylor is the A-side here, he has the belt, a former unified champion and undefeated, so I doubt that Teo will have a significant advantage as far as revenue goes. But it's good that he tries to sell the fight with his kind of statement just trash talking and trying to get into the mind of his opponent. But I doubt that Josh will fall for it.

He has fought a lot of great champions leading up to the capture of the 4 major belts. So he already know the tricks that Teo is trying to pull here. The only best win by Teo is against a injured Loma. He wouldn't even last against Regis Prograis whom Josh beat in a hard fought match.

Doing some stupid thing will capture the interest of the readers. After that statement, there are many people who will be engaged and
a possible to convert it to a ticket sale or any related things for the upcoming fight.

Making money as for sure is one of the reason why a fighter will make that kind of statement, though we really can't tell if that's just part of the advertisement or there's something more behind the statement.

Or also maybe it's a simple way to say he will KO Taylor! Just an opinion!

Why though, you think Teofimo Lopez will really do it? Like for real? Or at least capable of doing it? Grin

His chances in defeating the former unified champion are even much lower. So, it is clear that it's just his way to market this fight but sadly, he literally doesn't know anything about marketing as it shows that only minority of people (his fans mostly) will actually believe what he is saying. What he is saying is quite nonsense because people know his true capabilities.

I guess Teo is breaking down mentally more, than trash talking here. It was revealed that he is going under the divorce proceedings, as he admitted that her wife filed for one already.

So that alone will cause anyone to really say things that they really doesn't mean to, specially those individuals who are very aggressive like a boxer of Teo's caliber. Boxers though as capable to do that in the ring, we've seen accidents happen but we really don't want that to see happening to any boxer.

I think it's just a figure of speech when he said that he will kill Josh Taylor, I mean how could he do that if he is not mentally prepared to this fight, this statement could backfire and he may be the one that could suffer a brutal loss.

As you said above that his wife is filing for a divorce then that's additional stress on his part that could really have an effect on his training camp. He is the underdog here so he must be on his "A" shift when he comes to the ring come fight night, bringing his perfect game plan to capture the belt but with the way we see it now, the chance of him winning became slimmer.

He should be prepared if he doesn't want to add another embarrassment in his career or worse, he might caught Taylor's vicious punches off guard that will make him sleep into the canvass and have an early exit. For sure he doesn't want that, so instead of saying whatever kind of nonsense online and bark towards Taylor, he should make sure first that his mind is clear as their fight date is already around the corner. In-fact, 1 week to go.

He did apologized though for that statement, whether figure of speech or if that is his true intentions (although we all know that boxer can be killed inside the ring, but the chances are slim).

Yeah, the divorce could be an additional stress on him, but he should be focus on this fight. This is a different environment and weight class for him. We've seen his previous fight at 140 lbs and he doesn't look good, but he is taking a big risk in fighting a very game Josh Taylor who I still consider the best of the 140 lbs and it's going to be hard for Teo and his pysche war might not work against Josh.

Just saw Josh Taylor interviewed by Max Kellerman and realized that Taylor has been in this weight class for a long time now, and that is a huge advantage for him because he is very comfortable in this division while Lopez was not doing good on his last fight in this division and for Teo's style is tailored-fit for Taylor to look good in the ring and I predict that this might end via knockout for Taylor, considering that he will shake off those ring rust early in the fight.

The match looks like a big risk for Lopez which is partly true but Bob Arum or whoever from Top Rank masterminded this fight is making this nearly at par. Taylor might be very acclimatized in this division capturing all 4 belts. But he is known to have struggled to make the weight in his last fights and probably the same reason why struggled and had an off-night against Catterall. And lastly, Taylor is inactive. I am excited to see their face-offs. And I hope Taylor will KO Lopez, make his dad cry, and end the Lopez hype.

If not for the inactivity, I guess Lopez is an easy x3 minimum. Anyways, I wonder why Taylor remained in this division when he is struggling to make the weight. Is it for money, knowing Lopez is a big money fight? Or is it because Top Rank cannot provide him a title shot at 147 where the 3 belts belong to PBC/Showtime and WBO champion Terrence Crawford just left them? But now that Crawford and Spence are facing each other for a possible 2-way fight, it is most likely that the final winner if there is no immediate trilogy will move up in weight and all the belts will become vacant. Taylor should stop forcing his body to make 140 and head on to 147 after this fight where he can request for a higher ranking right away since he became undisputed at 140.

Probably it's more on the latter, 147 lbs is the money division, but if Josh Taylor can't secure a fight, at least a decent fighter that can make him good money, I think it's better for him to stay and fought a fighter like Teo Lopez.

Bob Arum's Top Rank doesn't have a decent 147 lbs, so probably that is one reason as well. And most of the time champions are giving privilege as well when they move up to have a chance to fight for the belt. But not in this case though, as again, we can go back to boxing politics, as 147 lbs is the money division, it's in a messed right now, (although finally, we will see Crawford vs Spence).

Speaking of Jack Catterall, he recently won his comeback fight against Australian Darragh Foley. He scored 2 knockdowns on that fight, but he can't finished the Australian, but manage to win 99-88, 98-89 and 97-90.

Who knows maybe after Taylor win here, the rematch could be back on track.

I think he can still make 140 lbs so most likely he will remain in this weight, again maybe go back for a rematch with Catterall or fight who ever emerges as the new champion or the other belts which he previously held. It will be a tough for him to get a shot at 147 lbs as it was held by PBC right now. The best shot they can make is against Vergil Ortiz with Golden Boy, if he will win against Eimantas Stanionis.

At least it was a clear win. Catterall is now back on track and should be looking for another title shot. He actually just signed with Matchroom after the closure of Probellum. A rematch is not that easy to make now since he is now tied up to a big promotion with an exclusive network deal. And Taylor might move up in weight anytime soon. WBA champion Romero is now mandated to face Ohara Davies who already lost to Caterrall before. A big domestic rematch in the UK is possible since I am expecting Davies to win although he might be fighting not just Romero but the referee and judges. Cheesy

He can make the weight but that means a lot of sacrifice. Instead of training for the techniques on how to win, Taylor will be spending a lot of his time making and maintaining his weight. Stanionis is not a real champion although his regular belt may turn into a real belt if the winner of Crawford and Spence vacates which is very possible. I also expect Stanionis to lose, it will be very hard to beat Ortiz, especially in his hometown of Texas, the most corrupt boxing commission in the US. Apart from Ortiz being an exceptional talent like Stanionis. Taylor should just position himself at 147 while the belts are still not vacant. But the big-money fights at 140 might be too tempting for him and Top Rank has no popular fighter at 147 after Crawford's departure.

Taylor is already too late to even jump in the next weight class especially now that Spence and Crawford are still dominating the division, leaving the upcoming rising stars like Stanionis, Boots Ennis and Ortiz unable to hold the belt. But in the event where Crawford and Spence leave the industry, these 3 mentioned uprising boxers are way too ready to get the vacant belts as they have waited for that time for too long now.

So, as long as Josh Taylor can make his weight limit at light welter, there should be no problems and I'm still confident that he can still dominate the whole division. Teofimo Lopez can say whatever he wants but after this fight, he will again go back in the bottom waiting for some lucky chances as that were the reasons why he achieved this phase in the first place.

During Taylor's interview with Kellerman, he said he is will to fight Crawford or Spence if given the chance (give payday of course hehe) but i think for me if Taylor will move up to the 147lbs division, it's a good thing as he will give additional power to this division where only Crawford and Spence are dominating, maybe he can make this division exciting with his presence.

Back to the Teo Lopez fight, i'm now putting some money on Taylor ML @1.56, though I believed that he will KO Lopezbut  I won't underestimate the latter as he might still stand after the bell of round 12 sounded  Grin.

Of course, we wouldn't fight either of those champions, but then again, boxing politics might have prevented that in the future. There are a lot of good boxers in 147 lbs that might be a great match though for Taylor.

For sentimental favorites, I will go with Josh Taylor to shut down that big mouth of Teo and bring his ass back to the ground. Yes, I will also wanted to see him getting knockout for good or a complete domination with by Josh.

No tea, no shade, but Taylor's playing a risky game here. Balancing those belts while battling the scale? It's like watching a streamer attempting a tricky speedrun on Twitch. But don't get it twisted, Lopez isn't a piece of cake either. And isn't it just a tad bit ironic that Taylor could be prepping for a higher weight class right when the big guns are exiting the scene? It's like finally getting the WiFi password right when the party's over. So, what's next for Taylor? Making the leap to 147? Or grinding it out at 140? Guess we'll just have to stay tuned, like refreshing your feed for the latest viral tweet, huh?

Back to the Teo Lopez fight, i'm now putting some money on Taylor ML @1.56, though I believed that he will KO Lopezbut  I won't underestimate the latter as he might still stand after the bell of round 12 sounded  Grin.

For sentimental favorites, I will go with Josh Taylor to shut down that big mouth of Teo and bring his ass back to the ground. Yes, I will also wanted to see him getting knockout for good or a complete domination with by Josh.

The 1.56 moneyline odds are quite low. I initially thought that Taylor would only be a slight favorite, but with those odds, it makes me question if Lopez is just hyping things up to gain attention, while in reality, he isn't as good. Well, Josh Taylor has already proven that he owns this division, so Lopez shouldn't make excuses if he fails in this attempt. Anyway, good luck, guys. I feel that a KO win by Taylor is more appealing, though risky at the same time.
