For every Muslim, the month of Ramadan is a month of great virtue. For a month, Muslims observe fasting by abstaining from all food and drink in order to gain the pleasure of Allah.  This month of Ramadan is celebrated in the ninth month of the year according to the Arabic month. The virtues of Ramadan will be attained only when a Muslim eats Sehri on time, offers five daily prayers, breaks Iftar on time, offers Taraweeh prayers and Tahajjud prayers along with it. May Allah grant us all the blessings of Ramadan. May the blessings of Ramadan be upon everyone.

An interesting movie series is the 'Jack Hunter' 3-movie, sci-fi series (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1412094/). The main female star is Joanne Kelly who plays Nadia Ramadan in the movie. The whole set of movies is based around Middle East, Arabic cultures, even though they were made in the English language.

I have not seen this beautiful movie related to Ramadan yet.  But since the movie is made entirely in Arabic culture and the theme of the movie is the theme of Ramadan, it can be said that the story of the movie is very beautiful. And I will definitely watch the movie.

As-salamu alaykum my brothers, please enjoy the month of Ramadam & be strong during your fasting. Allah will give you strength as you reaffirm your faith during the sacred month.

"Walaikum Assalam" Ramadan is undoubtedly a month of merit for every Muslim. May the blessings of this month shower upon you. And may Allah grant you Tawfiq to fully observe all the provisions of Ramadan.

OP Thank you for bringing us a beautiful topic about the month of Ramadan. Ramadan is a month of forgiveness for every person. Allah can forgive all the sins of life with the help of this month of Ramadan. May Allah grant all of us who are Muslims the grace to observe these 30 fasts. Allah Taala has described in the Qur'an Sharif that He Himself said that He will give the reward of this Ramadan with His own hands. So let us all reap the merits of these 30 days of fasting.

Ramadan is a month of virtue and blessings. This month is a month of special blessings for every Muslim from Almighty Allah. The worshipers wait for a year only for this month of Ramadan. Allah Almighty has mentioned in the Qur'an Sharif that in the month of Ramadan He stops the punishment of all the graves and keeps Satan captive in this month. May Allah bless you to fast 30 days of Ramadan

Happy Ramadan everyone. Today I am going to observe the first fast of the month of Ramadan after a year of waiting. Today is a special day of Jumma and the first fast, the hadith states that Friday is the day of Hajj for the poor. May Allah bless us all to observe 30 fasts. And grant him the grace to pray five times a day. Many of us only fast and do not pray. Many of us spend our days watching television on our phones. This month of Ramadan is the month of forgiveness. Maybe this month of Ramadan can be the last Ramadan of my life. So we will all fast, pray and recite the Qur'an.

Assalamu Alaikum, Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims. Fasting is done by abstaining from food and drink for the whole day in the hope of gaining the satisfaction of the Creator. And at the end of the day, iftar is eaten together with the family and everyone, it seems like a heavenly peace is found. So if we all Muslims fast in this month of Ramadan and keep busy in the worship of Allah Ta'ala then we will have peace in this world and in the hereafter.

The month of Ramadan is a blessed month for the Muslim world, the month of forgiveness. The impurity of the servant's heart is removed through Ramadan. But this month we should not be busy with ourselves, we should inquire how those around us are spending their day. Those of us who are wealthy and able should extend a helping hand to those around us who are starving. There are many poor and helpless people around us who should be provided with Iftar. Dressing should be arranged for them.  We ourselves should spend a little less on ourselves this month and dedicate ourselves to their welfare. We must remember that our own welfare lies within the welfare of all. Therefore, in this month of Ramadan, we will take an oath that those who have the means to provide for the hungry people around them.

As-salamu alaykum my brothers, please enjoy the month of Ramadan & be strong during your fasting. Allah will give you strength as you reaffirm your faith during the sacred month.

May Allah be with us.
It's a wonderful thing to see people abstain from food and other pleasure because they want to please God and get favor from Him. Islam is a religion I have so much respect for because it promotes love, peace, and liberality. I wish the muslin faithful a fruitful Ramadan and let Allah grant you all your heart desires.

I also want you to use this holy month to pray for global peace and don't forget to remember people suffering in war-torn nations like Ukraine and Palestine. Please remember people that are facing religious persecution in India and China. Also, don't forget to pray for nations going through political crises like Ethiopia and Nigeria.

This is the best month of the year for all Muslims around the world. Reiterating on the importance of Ramadan in the forum is a great reminder to all Muslims here and a way of expressing the importance that comes with the month. It is a month of forgiveness, worship, given charity etc and most of all abstaining from eating. I pray this month serve as a reminder for all Muslims to remain steadfast in the worship to their creator and do the right things that is expected of them as a true Muslim. Happy Ramadan!

Greetings to all Muslim brothers on the holy month of Ramadan. May Ramadan bring peace in everyone's life. In this month of Ramadan, Muslims fast to seek the pleasure of Allah and there are some other Islamic rules that Muslims follow very seriously. Fasting is obligatory for every adult. In this month of Ramadan, Allah Ta'ala increases the amount of reward. If you give charity in the month of Ramadan, you will get 70 times more reward than what you get in other months.

Yes you are right Muslims fast for a certain period of time by abstaining from all food only to gain the pleasure of the Lord.  And for every Muslim, the month of Ramadan is a month of great virtue and forgiveness of sins.

I also want you to use this holy month to pray for global peace and don't forget to remember people suffering in war-torn nations like Ukraine and Palestine. Please remember people that are facing religious persecution in India and China. Also, don't forget to pray for nations going through political crises like Ethiopia and Nigeria.
A lot of prayers are needed for those countries that are being persecuted in various ways. China India has been torturing Muslims in various ways may Allah guide them. And let them refrain from the inhuman torture that Ukraine has inflicted on the Palestinians.

I am from a country where Islam and Muslims are a relatively small percentage of the population, so I have never experienced Ramadan in my life, but I admit and since I learnt how to speak English and started to interact with people from other cultures I have grown more curious on the festivities of the Muslin people and also the Jewish people.

I hope someday I can have a muslin friend in the real life and helps me to understand and celebrate his yearly traditions through the guidance of theirs and their family. I assume fasting must be difficult.

The religious rituals are nothing, except that they produce real thinking and understanding of God in people.

What understanding should the rituals be producing? That God is One God - One Allah if you speak Arabic. And more importantly, that the One God is made up of three parts that have equal importance, equal togetherness, and 'Full-God' authority in the One God.

These three are known as:
1. The Father, who we generally attribute creation to;
2. Jesus, the Savior of mankind;
3. The Holy Spirit, Who exists throughout this universe.

These three all have complete God-ness separately and together, complete individuality, complete oneness... and we don't understand how this can be. It is beyond our simple comprehension.

However, if we don't accept it, we are not really worshiping God. Rather, we are worshiping an idol that our hearts and minds have made up.

The above is most important. Living a good life is second. And ritual, if it doesn't take away from the first two, might only be third.

I wish Ramadan Mubarak to every Muslim man and woman. May Allah Ta'ala grant every Muslim the Tawfiq to observe 30 fasts. It is stated in Islam that if you observe 30 fasts by the command of Allah, Allah will reward you. Today is the sixth day of fasting. I have kept all the fasts and intend to Allah to keep only 30 fasts. May Allah Taala accept my prayers, Ameen.

13 THINGS YOU SHOULD DO DURING THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

Praise be to Allah.

Ramadan is one of the twelve Arabic months. It is a month which is venerated in the Islamic religion, and it is distinguished from the other months by a number of characteristics and virtues, including the following:

1- Allah has made fasting this month the fourth pillar of Islam , as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month…” [al-Baqarah 2:185]

And it was narrated in al-Sahihayn (al-Bukhari, 8; Muslim, 16) from the hadith of Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Islam is built on five (pillars): the testimony that there is no god except Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah; establishing prayer; paying zakah; fasting Ramadan; and Hajj to the House (the Ka’bah).”

2- Allah revealed the Quran in this month, as He says in the verse quoted above (interpretation of the meaning):

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong)…” [al-Baqarah 2:185]

And Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, We have sent it (this Quran) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree).” [al-Qadr 97:1]

3- Allah has made Laylat al-Qadr in this month, which is better than a thousand months, as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, We have sent it (this Quran) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree). And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? The Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). Therein descend the angels and the Ruh [Jibreel (Gabriel)] by Allah’s Permission with all Decrees, (All that night), there is peace (and goodness from Allah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.” [al-Qadar 97:1-5]

“We sent it (this Quran) down on a blessed night [(i.e. the Night of Al-Qadr) in the month of Ramadan — the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship].” [al-Dukhan 44:3]

Allah has blessed Ramadan with Laylat al-Qadr . Explaining the great status of this blessed night, Surat al-Qadr was revealed, and there are many ahadith which also speak of that, such as the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month which Allah has enjoined you to fast, during which the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained up. In it there is a night which is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.” (Narrated by al-Nasai, 2106; Ahmad, 8769, classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih al-Targhib, 999.)

And Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends Laylat al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, will be forgiven his previous sins.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1910; Muslim, 760)

4- Allah has made fasting Ramadan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins, as was proven in al-Sahihayn (al-Bukhari, 2014; Muslim, 760) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

Al-Bukhari (2008) and Muslim (174) also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

The Muslims are unanimously agreed that it is Sunnah to pray qiyam at night in Ramadan. Al-Nawawi said that what is meant by praying qiyam in Ramadan is to pray Tarawih, i.e., one achieves what is meant by qiyam by praying Tarawih.

5- In this month, Allah opens the gates of Paradise and closes the gates of Hell , and chains up the devils, as is stated in al-Sahihayn (al-Bukhari, 1898; Muslim, 1079), from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.”

6- Every night Allah has people whom He redeems from the Fire. Imam Ahmad (5/256) narrated from the hadith of Abu Umamah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “At every breaking of the fast, Allah has people whom He redeems.” Al-Mundhiri said: there is nothing wrong with its isnad; and it was classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih al-Targhib, 987.

Al-Bazzar (Kashf 962) narrated that Abu Sa’id said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah has people whom He redeems every day and night – i.e., in Ramadan – and every Muslim every day and night has a prayer that is answered.”

7- Fasting Ramadan is a means of expiation for the sins committed since the previous Ramadan, so long as one avoids major sins. It was proven in Sahih Muslim (233) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The five daily prayers, from one Jumu’ah to the next and from one Ramadan to the next are expiation for (sins committed) in between, so long as you avoid major sins.”

8- Fasting in Ramadan is equivalent to fasting ten months, as is indicated by the hadith in Sahih Muslim (1164) narrated from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari: “Whoever fasts Ramadan then follows it with six days of Shawwal , it will be like fasting for a lifetime.”

Ahmad (21906) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan, a month is like ten months, and fasting six days after al-Fitr will complete the year.”

9- Whoever prays qiyam in Ramadan with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer, because of the report narrated by Abu Dawud (1370) and others from the hadith of Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever prays qiyam with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer.” (Classed as sahih by al-Albani in Salat al-Tarawih, p. 15)

10- ‘Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj . Al-Bukhari (1782) and Muslim (1256) narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to a woman among the Ansar, “What kept you from doing Hajj with us?” She said, “We only had two camels that we used for bringing water.” So her husband and son had gone for Hajj on one camel, and he left the other for them to use for bringing water.” He said, “When Ramadan comes, go for ‘Umrah, for ‘Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj.” According to a report narrated by Muslim, “… is equivalent to doing Hajj with me.”

11- It is Sunnah to observe i’tikaf (retreat for the purpose of worship) in Ramadan, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) always did that, as it was narrated in the hadith of ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to spend the last ten days of Ramadan in i'tikaf until he passed away, then his wives observed i'tikaf after him.” Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1922; Muslim, 1172.

12- It is mustahabb in the sense of being strongly recommended in Ramadan to study the Quran together and to read it a great deal. You may study the Quran together by reciting it to someone else and by having someone else recite it to you. The evidence that this is mustahabb is the fact that Jibril used to meet the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) every night in Ramadan and study the Quran with him. (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 6; Muslim, 2308)

Reading Quran is mustahabb in general, but more so in Ramadan.

13- It is mustahabb in Ramadan to offer iftar to those who are fasting , because of the hadith of Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives iftar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 807; Ibn Majah, 1746; classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih al-Tirmidhi, 647.)

And Allah knows best.

Happy Ramadan to my Muslim brothers. Pray for the whole world, pray for peace. Pray for Russia and Ukraine and let peace be restored. Give arms to the poor, feed the needy and visit those in prison for most of them are innocent.
The photo above has combination of some fruits and nuts and a juice, and they are sweet types of foods, does that have any significance in the Ramadan feast?

I assume fasting must be difficult.
Fasting is among the five pillars of Islam, fasting is compulsory for every Muslim immediately they clock the adult age. Actually fasting is not easy but we don't have any choice than to do it because it is order from Allah. Allah make it easy for us during the month of Ramadan, despite no drink or eat we are all happy to see the month of Ramadan.

I hope someday I can have a muslin friend in the real life and helps me to understand and celebrate his yearly traditions through the guidance of theirs and their family.

1. The Father, who we generally attribute creation to;
2. Jesus, the Savior of mankind;

I think you interpret the rituals from a Christian perspective. I agree with you that most of them fall within the inherited customs that oblige believers to do what God is supposed to have commanded them to do.
Islam is made up of five parts that have equal importance, equal togetherness. These five are known as "The five rules of Islam":
1. The two testimonies: which is the testimony that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His Messenger.
2. Fasting: It is the fasting of the month of Ramadan every year in the Hijri calendar (Islamic calendar).
3. Zakat: It is giving a portion of the profits each year in charity to the poor and needy.
4. Hajj: It is also an annual event in which Muslims make the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to visit the Kaaba and perform rituals around it and in the surrounding places.
5. Prayer: It is obligatory for every Muslim to perform five daily prayers at different times throughout the day.

In answer to the quote: Fasting is one of the rituals that Muslims around the world perform every year. In the Islamic religious interpretation, it is an opportunity that God gives every year to Muslims to feel the needy and the poor, and it is a month dedicated only to worship and to get closer to God.

Thanks for the links.
I have never fasted in purpose in my life, but I have indeed felt hunger, so I can admire people within Islam manage to keep on this ritual as they pray.

I am also curious about how you all celebrate Eid al-Adha. Here in my Christian country, we do not celebrate it. I have read that you are supposed to sacrifice animals and then also share the meat with your family and friends, even with people who are in need.

Yes, the month of Ramadan is a month full of blessings. In the first 10 days of Ramadan, Allah gives mercy to us. The second 10 days, is the stage of forgiveness from Allah. and the third 10 days, kept away from the fire of hell. In the month of Ramadan all the rewards of worship are multiplied. May we all get the blessings of the month of Ramadan. happy fasting worship 🙏😊
