Quote
Thousands of job types have disappeared in the last century, and millions would have gone unemployed, yet we still manage to produce enough jobs so that women could work too, we have the largest employment levels in history and still millions of openings.
Yet surprisingly the commoners live way better than last century.

Yes, it is true that many job types have disappeared in the last century, and new ones have emarged. This is a natural result of technological advancements and changing economic conditions But despite these changes, we have been able to create enough jobs to provide employment opportunities for millions of people.

Interesting that Aerospace, defence and pharmaceuticals are at the bottom of chart. AI should have been proactive in those field considering they are life savers for us. Pharma gives you second chance of extended living, defence will defend you in the war zone while aerospace could be your second home. AI should be working more in that field a lot.

That being said, we should also be worried that AI is taking over our jobs so we must think about AI in slowest possible way. Do we really need them to enter in every field of work? We will have colony of labours everywhere while AI does the white collar job. Not sure how it is gonna pan out in next decade.

No doubt, the world is shifting towards an AI-driven workplace, I feel it too actually as a cryptocurrency writer. I find that most of the time, (since I work on a schedule imposed by the startup I am in) if I weren't available for a call or a quick chat, they'd write an article or a copy themselves using AI and just paraphrase is it or something, which to me is as threatening as it can be because if they could do it that easy, what keeps them from laying me off right?

In any case, i do think the day that OP is mentioning is still pretty far, considering that AI has still got a long way to go before it could even be on par with human cognition. In a couple years maybe, but that's still up for debate.

AI will change the job market but this is not going to be good for commoners like us! In order to reduce costs, companies will implement multiple automations wherever possible. This will lead to millions of job cuts in future. With economy already struggling, AI will add to it.

Elon Musk once said, he has seen what AI can do and it's scary. Let's hope that day doesn't come. AI will eventually bring disaster for the humankind.

Yeah, and not only Elon Musk, but recently, even Bill Gates acknowledge the potential of AI in any sector of the job market, hence they are also into it or at least his company to developed their own AI.

And same prediction, it will transform or even replace some jobs that human used to do because they are going to be efficient on it.

He predicts like in the next 50-60 years or so if I'm not mistaken, so I guess we might have to embrace it this already.

they still have a lot of limitations. AI may do a lot of jobs now, but at some point, we still need human touch. but it is true, there are jobs that can easily be replaced by AI. so for those jobs of that kind, people should look for alternative jobs in case their position is getting in danger owed to AI.

AI cant really replace the most important parts of peoples jobs but the menial irritating parts I think it will be a great help to the world in the end.   Some will be scared of being displaced but tends to happen is society overall will gain much like the ancient technology in the fields allowed hundreds of people in every town to do something besides pick wheat etc.   It will be a positive and the more benefit we gain will be in finding the best placement for usage possible, that will be a skill in of itself.
Very happy to see computers advance in this way(or their interface as such), its been twenty years of mostly stagnation it seems to me but many expected too much too soon perhaps.

Elon Musk once said, he has seen what AI can do and it's scary. Let's hope that day doesn't come. AI will eventually bring disaster for the humankind.

With these effects, we will see more unemployed individuals.  It is maybe beneficial for corporate in terms of cost-cutting but disastrous for employees.  I think the domination of AI in corporate jobs is cannot be prevented.  It is best to have an insight and search for jobs that are AI resistant but it is somehow impossible since Automation + robotics + AI can replace humans in any Industry but I think the least affected would be Agriculture like Husbandry.

That is what employees already working in large companies are afraid and worried about because these companies could fire employees who are less productive in their offices and replace them with AI. And it seems that this has happened in several large companies, so employees have to think about or make new plans if it happens later. They have to come to terms with the fact that AI technology is coming to the company and if they don't try to improve their skills, they will surely be replaced by AI. The world is getting more advanced and AI technology can change the face of the business world in the future.

As an employee one need to be adaptive towards new technologies. Those who resist the change (whether employee or employer) cease to exist over a period of time. AI is definitely changing the way we think and work, but the need of the human brain will be required atleast in next decade. What as an employee we have to do is learn new AI based tool that are popping up like ChatGPT or Google AI kitchen. AI is coming like hurricane and we just need to be ready for it.
Such thinking is a must for all employees. But unfortunately, not all employees have the will to improve themselves, and AI technology can change all work patterns in a company. Those who don't want to learn to improve themselves will not be used in the company and will create more unemployment.

It could be that the existence of AI makes employees have to think hard so they can continue to work as usual. And only employees with more abilities can stay in the company even though that doesn't guarantee they can keep working because AI can replace their job anytime.

It is true that AI is going to transform the job market. Some jobs are going to be displaced because of AI, but then new opportunities are also going to rise. Maybe more than before. I find it weird how people are upset about the changes, or how people "hate" that AI is going to automate tasks for us or do jobs that humans used to do, but hey... we are progressing and we should adapt with the changes and the technologies. Instead of hating them, we should be learning and adapting to these changes.

I've heard about this AI 5 years ago, where an expert predicts that in the future robots will replace the role of humans in the industrial world. And from what the OP explained, we can conclude that the opportunity for robots to replace human labor in industry is very large and it is dangerous for humans because they can lose their jobs.

But those whose names are human-made have their drawbacks, those called robots are definitely prone to short circuits or errors and that must also be taken into consideration as to whether they will really enter the industrial world.

We will have colony of labours everywhere while AI does the white collar job. Not sure how it is gonna pan out in next decade.

Pharma/Medical products are at the bottom because they affect human body and there is no turning back there once you let AI make mistakes. Humans will always be better scientists than AI on that department. AI can drill better holes on the walls than humans, AI can be better at automation/assembly, serving food maybe but when it comes to creating a new drug, you can't beat the human brain. However that doesn't mean pharmacists can't benefit from AI at all. Thanks to AI, we will have better pharmacists/doctors and better pharmaceutical products in the future.

I see AI is bringing a new age to us, but this problem also takes time to adapt when users do not really have a certain knowledge in the usage behavior leading to its abuse. for other wrong tools.
Can see how many traditional jobs affect, and when people do not understand how to operate and control this technology in the most optimal way, I think that the product is good or bad is for us to judge. and action.
Here, what benefits AI is bringing and how it affects society negatively, we need to look closely to apply it effectively.

That being said, we should also be worried that AI is taking over our jobs so we must think about AI in slowest possible way. Do we really need them to enter in every field of work? We will have colony of labours everywhere while AI does the white collar job. Not sure how it is gonna pan out in next decade.

AI has already made significant contributions to the healthcare industry, including drug discovery, clinical trial optimization, and personalized medicine. While there are risks associated with AI's involvement in pharmaceutical and medical products, its potential benefits cannot be ignored. With proper regulation and oversight, AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare and improve patient outcomes.

It is surprising that AI has not been more proactive in industries such as aerospace, defense, and pharmaceuticals, given their potential to save lives. However, we must also consider the potential consequences of AI taking over jobs and the need for careful implementation. The impact of AI on the workforce is a complex issue that requires careful consideration

I don’t know, but it feels like AI is creating more competition rather than giving us an opportunity to work smarter. Humans will be only of use changing batteries, grease and filling gas in the automated driven robots by AI. We are creating slave master for humans and nothing else. Literally saw one video back in a month that one gas station installed automated robotic hand to fill the cars fuel tank without any human interference. Do you imagine implications of this thing? It’s horrible and could be bad in the future. I’m not saying we should be afraid of AI but the speed at which they are excelling is quiet High. I would still love to do my own chemicals reactions with my hands or an IT guy would love to think and write his own code.

It is clear that a revolution is coming, what we do not know is how profound it will be, we can see that many jobs will be replaced by AI and many people will fail to adapt to this new environment, what will happen to those people? Some politicians have been pushing for UBI to pass, and if AI leaves millions of people on each country without jobs then the support for UBI could increase and eventually be passed, a policy I am not very happy with but AI could force the hands of the governments and drive them in this direction.

As AI continues to advance, it’s natural for programmers and other professionals to worry about their jobs being replaced. However, it’s important to note that AI is not going to replace programmers, but rather, it will augment and enhance their work.
Human beings are created in a special way that makes us Unique no matter how fast a technology can be it doesn't have the capacity to solve problems, rather humans will control it to HELP in the solution process, for instance the Super being that created human was outside of the human which he created and know the limit of what he created, so as humans and AIs it is limited in different ways and humans effort can not be compared to it.

That being said, there are a few things programmers can do to ensure they stay relevant in the age of AI:

1. Keep learning: People should continuously learn and update their skills to keep up with the latest technologies and tools. This will not only make them more valuable to employers, but it will also help them stay ahead of the curve as AI continues to evolve.

2. Embrace AI: Instead of fearing AI, we should embrace it and learn how to work with it. AI can be a powerful tool to help automate certain tasks and improve efficiency, which can free up time for us to focus on more complex and creative tasks.

3. Focus on unique human skills: While AI can automate certain tasks, it cannot replace the unique human skills that are necessary for programming, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. we should focus on developing these skills, which will make them indispensable in the workplace.

The world has been competitive since the beginning and I also think AI will increase this competition. Although AI will make our life easier but in some cases it can become a threat to us. Based on various news and opinions of many experts, it is actually believed that in the future people can become its slaves. I think there is nothing above the people, from now on if the governments of the countries create education and awareness about it to their students and collaborate with it and keep it under monitoring then I don't think there will be any danger. And if we want to survive in this competition, we must develop our skills with it, otherwise we who are normal level players cannot survive in this competition.

And certainly in the future when AI development is advancing. and when repetitive work can be overcome with machines and robots that use AI technology, well, many people will start to lose jobs in their fields.
I think the comparison of losing a job to the emergence of a new field of work would be too far apart.

Even without AI, there are now many factories that use automated machines to replace job positions that were originally filled with human work. and I see a lot of big factories doing massive layoffs because those factories have found work with automated machines is much more effective than hiring people. this is indeed unavoidable.

the solution is only in ourselves who must always be able to develop and adapt to technological advances in this era. maybe we can also open a business like a coffee shop by making AI robots that serve as waiters in our shop. it's like if in the past to make coffee we struggled to do it. but nowadays there are automatic coffee makers that can mix different flavors of coffee with a simple command.
now we have to adapt to be able to use it as an opportunity.

I think there are some cases where AI won't solve or replace some job as it is needed to be done by hands. I should day that there are some jobs that need human interaction before you can see the finished product. What I meant is that the AI will do its job and then people will finish the job or complete the job which cannot be done by the AI that is installed or used to program the robot.
