It is true that AI is going to transform the job market. Some jobs are going to be displaced because of AI, but then new opportunities are also going to rise. Maybe more than before. I find it weird how people are upset about the changes, or how people "hate" that AI is going to automate tasks for us or do jobs that humans used to do, but hey... we are progressing and we should adapt with the changes and the technologies. Instead of hating them, we should be learning and adapting to these changes.

Why can people be surprised and really hate this progress or this AI, because they are threatened that their jobs will be taken by AI, yes maybe we can use AI for our needs and help with tasks as we work, but the thing to fear is when companies or that provides jobs directly using AI and does not require your expertise, even though basically you have the skills to use AI, because basically companies will take operational steps that are cheaper, when compared to hiring humans who need guarantees or insurance and rights other rights that are regulated for workers will of course be very expensive, I think if I were an entrepreneur, he would take the cheapest step if only with AI the work could be done and it was cheaper and faster.

I don’t know, but it feels like AI is creating more competition rather than giving us an opportunity to work smarter. Humans will be only of use changing batteries, grease and filling gas in the automated driven robots by AI. We are creating slave master for humans and nothing else. Literally saw one video back in a month that one gas station installed automated robotic hand to fill the cars fuel tank without any human interference. Do you imagine implications of this thing? It’s horrible and could be bad in the future. I’m not saying we should be afraid of AI but the speed at which they are excelling is quiet High. I would still love to do my own chemicals reactions with my hands or an IT guy would love to think and write his own code.

The implications will be clearly worse, if we are complacent with this technological progress, without realizing that civilization will be shifted into a more effective and efficient world brought by AI. There will probably be job opportunities, but in my opinion fewer, because in the implementation of human work in the fields of writing, bookkeeping, administration, and other things in most of the data collection and production processes in factories, it will take up job vacancies that should be filled by humans, maybe those who have job opportunities at that time are mechanics and AI developers, while humans will be busy looking for jobs that AI cannot represent.

Well, in here some sales promotor in supermarket gradually change into AI robot based. And yeah the machine is clever enough where should it go and how not to bump into other, it just move away by itself. The thing that I didn't expect is a simple programmer even can be replaced by AI faster than physical works that require mechanical thing

While people fear that AI and automations will relieve people of their jobs those who embrace the new trend and find a way to adapt to the new innovation by getting the required skills to fit into the technological trend get better offer. In every new era while jobs disappears new ones are created to either modify, perfect or improve on the outdated era.

Today I have read the news which quite surprised me. the news is titled "Pause Giant AI Experiments: An Open Letter" and in essence I see that it turns out that the developers themselves are also not sure what level of security or effect will be brought from further development of AI technology. they will decide to continue to develop a more robust AI system if they have confirmed the effect is truly positive and the risks are manageable.

by the way the news is an open letter calling for a 6 month break to train a stronger AI system beyond GPT-4. even the open letter was signed by Elon Musk. and several other experts in the field of AI whose names are already prominent.

the point is that our concern is also felt by the developers themselves.

You are absolutely right. Automation and AI are changing the job market, and workers will need to adapt to these changes. As you mentioned, some jobs will be displaced, but new jobs will also emerge.
New jobs have to be on the ground for those that will lose their jobs because of AI, once AI replaced them they should start work with immediate effect, or else this idea is very stupid, many people will become jobless and poverty will reign even more, AI will work for free, no need to pay them right? Who is going to benefit the most?

Therefore we are challenged to be more creative in meeting job needs. AI really helps, but there are many things that AI cannot do but humans can do. AI will focus on standard programs while we are able to make a little difference, insert skills, and special skills and be able to make up for what is lacking from AI. Be as creative as possible and develop your potential, dare to compete with the tough job competition. Don't just let the AI and contributions make you give up, jobs will still exist and smelly opportunities will arise.

Indeed, I think sooner or later it will be, as the emergence of automation and AI is causing significant changes in the job market, and workers need to be prepared to adapt to this new landscape. While some jobs may become obsolete, new jobs will also be created, particularly in fields related to technology and data analysis.

For now in my opinion, It is very important for workers to stay up to date with the latest technological advances and consider acquiring new skills and knowledge in order to stay competitive in the job market. In addition, developing soft skills such as creativity, critical thinking and adaptability can also help workers thrive in a rapidly changing job market.

it is undeniable that AI brings new standards in the world of work so that it puts pressure on every worker to have a lot of skills to be able to adapt to the latest competition in the world of work.

I think because the context of the topic is the job market everyone thinks about the dynamics of the job market with the threat of AI being the main source of discussion, but I think when it comes to "your" work it doesn't hurt to talk about creating new business opportunities for you to work and earn income.

however I will focus again, the job opportunities that may be available are in the fields of mechanics, programmers, machines, internet networks, and electricity. I think that's one of the many opportunities that will arise when AI has been optimized and implemented in every industry.

AI that we see or use online might be digital but they are considered to be true. If it is something that can be found in the real world or offline, we also have robots. I think they are also called or considered as an artificial intelligence because their intelligence is only artificial and not real like us humans in which we have a brain. AGI might be a little different from AI according on your description but isn't even possible?

I am skeptical about this one but It's indeed scary and maybe those that we saw on the movies where robots killing and wiping out the entire human race is going to happen for real. They do it because they think humans are different and it will be a threat to them.

I think it's still AI even if you see a robot. It id because the robot has something in its system which is the AI that is installed in the robot for whatever reason it is like printing or whatever it is that the creator want just like ChatGPT which answer questions though not all can be answered though or wrong information due to not being updated or faulty.

Desire of easy money stimulates AI to change job market. A lot of people who support AI does not always search for "modernization of working process", they see in AI opportunity not only to make their work easier, but to work less in general.

Recently I saw a video guide, how using ChatGPT and Image AI generator, people create books in 5-10minutes and sell them on Amazon. Previously people spend years to write a book. Now you can write commands like: make title, make chapters, write chapters and your book is ready in no time.

And that scares. If AI control what we read, our vision and etc, it will not only have control over us in few decades, but will completely replace us in a century.

Times will continue to progress, technology will also continue to experience sophistication. so of course with the constantly changing times, everyone has to get used to the existing conditions.
so is the realm of work.
existing employees are certainly required to learn new things, which may be very foreign and not known at all, even though (for example) this employee attends a very good university. but there are still many people who hold degrees, but are forced to continue studying again.

not only ordinary employees, the company's ancestors must also learn about something new (technology or work techniques), because if only subordinates learn, they are afraid that subordinates can play sneaky on their superiors. so it's true, we as humans are obliged to keep learning and keep growing, because if we don't want to learn, it will definitely be difficult to compete in this world.

For example, in the early days, Android cellphones appeared. many people are curious and want to know what this sophisticated cellphone is like. almost all people study, but only learn the basics, don't find out that there are many ways that this sophisticated smartphone can do.
the point is that we as humans must continue to be able to develop talents, which we can develop in our respective fields.

And don't you think this will create more opportunities for automation engineers, AI developers and Machine Learning engineers?. This is just the same case when Type writers employees and Cyber Cafe attendants were relieved of their jobs when laptops and mobile phones became rampant.
This is actually a nice take, Zilon. Last month I was like legitimately worried that my job might get taken over by AI as I worked as a Software Engineer as well. There would surely be ways to take advantage on how automation will change the job market. Also code generators like BlackBox and ChatGPT are like something that should aid devs instead of replacing them in their work. Software requires also a maintenance and that would involve solving complex problems as well. Try to throw complex problems to ChatGPT and it is going to.....fail.

Especially now that I have learned Python language which is the common language used for automation along with frameworks like Selenium, this might open more opportunities to dev. They could just leverage their programming skills from their current since the concept is almost the same anyway regardless of what language you're using.

Just imagining how much data the AI has collected so far and will keep increasing over the course of years and if it possible (hopefully it's just my imagination) to use that data to oppose us humans is really terrifying. The OP depicted that there will be a huge change in the job industry once AI is officially recognized as new workforce, while there're some who claims that it will be a huge leap for humanity and there are those who are against since they'd run the risk of losing their jobs. It is also possible that over the years that may come, we as humans will be forced to adapt and try as hard as we can not to lose versus AI. It could be possible that we will try to develop as humans much more intelligent, skillful and creative than AI.

Humans are also dangerous when we talk about survival, let's just hope it won't reach to that point.

It's happening gradually; for example, during COVID-19, some robotics were assigned in the hospital to assist doctors, while others were delivering food to patients in the hospital and keeping lonely patients company. As this continues to emerge, the use of human power in some companies will be less required, which will make some people lose their jobs unless they have some better skills or required some new skill that will fit the new job opportunities that the company will need then. I have read in a paper from 2021 that a company has bought an AI robot to serve the purpose of a receptionist in their company, I just can't get the paper any more.

I am wondering how many people will lose their jobs because of AI? Why can't humans be the ones assisting these people? Many people are jobless and they need a job to survive, yet we are ready to replace them with AI? You guys think this is an achievement but it is really not, this should happen only if there are so many jobs available and there are no more people to fill in the jap, people need to get paid to survive and take care of their families, AI robots are making the chances to become lower.

Everytime I read about AI and how it replaces others, I see that the machines in the industrial sector are like before the traditional one, where we usually have labor force people doing everything with the help of such tools, but right now owners and most factories are investing in those machines to automate the work as well as make the production faster, but still, some people stick to the traditional because machines are expensive and need maintenance. For sure, it will not completely vanish, but there will be changes that still affect us.

Because of this issue regarding AI and such, I tried asking an AI what the potential dangers their own kind could possibly bring and here's how chatGPT responded: Grin

Quote
As an AI model can you write me a narrative regarding the potential dangers of AI
Certainly, here is a narrative about the potential dangers of AI:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has come a long way since its inception and has brought about significant advancements in various fields. However, there are concerns regarding its development and deployment that must be addressed. These concerns range from the impact of AI on employment and the economy to the potential risks and dangers it poses to society.

One of the most significant concerns is the possibility of AI becoming too intelligent and surpassing human intelligence. This scenario, known as the singularity, could lead to machines becoming uncontrollable and beyond human comprehension, leading to disastrous consequences.

Another concern is the impact of AI on privacy and security. As AI systems become more sophisticated, they will have access to increasingly sensitive information, including personal data, financial information, and national security secrets. This information can be manipulated, stolen, or used for malicious purposes, leading to serious consequences.

Moreover, AI systems can be biased and discriminatory. If not programmed correctly, AI systems can perpetuate existing social, cultural, and economic biases, leading to unfair and unjust outcomes for certain groups of people. For example, facial recognition software has been shown to be less accurate for people with darker skin tones, leading to discriminatory outcomes.

Another significant concern is the potential loss of jobs due to automation. As AI systems become more sophisticated, they can replace human workers in various industries, leading to widespread job losses and economic instability.

Finally, there is the risk of AI being used for destructive purposes, such as cyber-attacks or the development of autonomous weapons. These weapons could be used without human intervention, leading to catastrophic consequences.

Overall, while the potential benefits of AI are significant, it is essential to consider and address the potential dangers and risks. It is vital to develop ethical standards and regulations that prioritize safety, security, and accountability. Moreover, AI development should be transparent and open to public scrutiny, and policymakers must ensure that the benefits of AI are equitably distributed and do not come at the expense of society's most vulnerable members.

here's another question I did earlier, I don't know whether I should feel relieved or be worried.

Quote
As an AI model do you think there is a possibility that you will take over mankind?
As an AI model, I do not possess any motivations or desires of my own, including the desire to take over mankind. I am a tool created by humans to assist in various tasks, and my actions are determined by my programming and the instructions provided to me by humans. While there are concerns about the potential misuse of AI by humans, it is important to remember that AI is ultimately controlled by humans and does not have any inherent motivations or desires of its own. The future of AI will be shaped by the decisions and actions of humans.

it's just weird how they answered the second question confidently while still leaving a clue that it can still be misused by humans. Even if the AI answered there is nothing to worry about and they didn't have any ambitions, what about those who're controlling them? they can be threatened easily and leaving the possibility that one wrong programming can cause such huge disaster is absolutely terrifying.

I just watched a video on Youtube on how powerful AI is with regards to the work that it can be done with a short amount of time.

Unfortunately, most of the jobs are affected or will get affected by AI. Base on the video that I watched, the most affected jobs are those on finance, insurance, data processing, publishing, scientist. On the other hand, the least affected industries by AI are agriculture, wood manufacturing, food, mining, and construction. You can watch the whole video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIU48QL5Cyk

It's been less than a year since AI boomed around the world, and we've seen rapid developments of it. Many people only sees the negative side of it, but there are still positive things that AI can do. Overall, there are many things that a worker can do still. Adopting to what's trending, utilizing the use of AI to be used in their current jobs. For sure, not all companies will be using AI. There might be some, but still a human is still needed. The bad thing though is that, there will be lots of people losing their jobs in the future because of AI, and it's inevitable knowing what Microsoft and Google are doing right now (AI Wars).

I think this time probably many researchers have found that it is the right time to popularize this technology, although many things are not so new, but applying it brings convenience in life is the most important thing. which we see most clearly.
There are many people who are concerned about the impact on their work and they are gradually being replaced by machines, I understand the problem but also want to express that the transfer of new technology always has positive and negative views. . So I think growth is about adapting to them and getting ready for the new jobs they're bringing to us.
