As the topic says, i found this interesting poll online on Micheal Saylor page and I'm curious to know what type of Bitcoiners we have on the Bitcointalk forum. this is going to be interesting, firstly i will explain in short terms what those options means.

Maximalist Bitcoiners  These believer sees bitcoin as global freedom and economical empowerment.

Technocrate Bitcoiners  These leagues believes that Bitcoin is the dominant digital monetary network.

Investors theses individuals sees Bitcoin as digital goods.

Skeptic  This set of group believes that bitcoin is too good to be true.

Others  Belong to any of these groups


Personally, I consider myself a maximalist because it fulfills more of the purposes for which bitcoin was designed for, as well as an investor who has never been skeptical of bitcoin or a technocrat.

Maximalist Bitcoiners  These believer sees bitcoin as global freedom and economical empowerment.

Most of forum members don't belong to Bitcoin Maximalist group. There are members like this but not many. There are more new members in forum than old members who are still actively use this forum.

Technocrate Bitcoiners  These leagues believes that Bitcoin is the dominant digital monetary network.

It accounts for minority not majority of forum. New participants in cryptocurrency market will love altcoins more than Bitcoin. They will have to learn their lessons and lose money with altcoins before a day they realize that Bitcoin is the best.

Investors theses individuals sees Bitcoin as digital goods.

Minority too. Most of new participants are traders and speculators, not real investors.

Skeptic  This set of group believes that bitcoin is too good to be true.

Not many members like this in forum. If they are skeptic, they less likely visit this forum, take a look and create their accounts.

No one denies or argues that bitcoin is not the best. Bitcoin is the best because bitcoin is the safest to use and invest in. And not all altcoins are bad, and not all people who invest in altcoins lose without profit. We have to admit that bitcoin is getting bigger and safer every day, but that has made bitcoin less profitable than altcoins. If you invest in ETH or BNB during the 2021 bull season, you will find that their returns are better than bitcoin. Not all altcoins are bad, many still perform very well in the long term, ETH being an example. I also invest in bitcoin, but I'm not a bitcoin maximalist, I can't pass up the many bigger opportunities out there just because of my bitcoin fanaticism.

It is true that not all altcoins are scams but MOST of them include fraud and insider dealings and would seriously inconvenience the majority of noob traders in the space, they are also simultaneously advertised targeting the exact type of naive and needy people who would fall for such schemes and often rope them into acting with a community simply to earn insider tokens. This type of behavior is exactly what bitcoin was built to replace and if just 50% of those devs put their efforts towards building on bitcoin such behavior would not occur so frequently *see last two years of 'crypto news'*. The space is not going to sail by on memes forever.

I thought that when someone is being considered to be maximalists, he's all in on bitcoin and it's the only cryptocurrency that he's invested in. I think that I belong to the three:

While those skeptics won't remain to be skeptics forever because I saw people that have disbelief in bitcoin but then, after they've seen the market became crazy during the bull run. And if they do, they'll regret that they've been like that everytime the market turns into a bull run. That is one thing for sure, they can be skeptics for a long time but they can't ignore the development and the good things that's happening and about to happen for bitcoin.

Someone like me can't have a single option convincingly opted for as I am in the categories of Maximalist and Investors Bitcoiners in this regard. Bitcoin has a lot of functions and ideology, so one category can't completely define it, and even the scope, functions and benefits of the coin are more than the listed options combined.

Very nice topic, personally i think crypto will dominate the future world finance, Blokchain technology will bring many good things that are not available in the traditional finance so i believe crypto adoption will continue to expend by the time and that's the main reason that make me invest in Bitcoin and believe that it is a very good investment in the long term

From the options you gave, I can say that I belong to this group. I see that Bitcoin can be used as a digital good and used for payment networks globally. Even though Bitcoin can actually be more than that, but for now I see that it can be used as an investment and payment globally.

That means you are a maximalist.

If you are not skeptical about bitcoin nor having a skeptical/other views about bitcoin, all other categories listed up there should fall in the investors category.

Example of a maximalist is Micheal Saylor, Nayib Bukele and people that strongly believe in the existence of bitcoin and highly having hope that the future would be better as bitcoin valuation continues and price increase. Maximalist have strong view about bitcoin and they hold bitcoin and they are most likely not selling during bear market.

Technocrat are the developers, surely many bitcoin developers are investors too, some may not even sell all their holdings when they have even forseen bear market coming. Developers should also be considered as investors because they become developers because they have hope in something they are developing and they will hold some coins.

A Bitcoin maximalist is one that doesn't care about anything other that BTC , it has nothing to do with global freedom or stuff like that, they just hate every single altcoin and shitcoin and deem them useless. Also, they represent probably way less than they sued to be in the crypto world, people having only BTC in their wallets could probably be counted with the fingers of a hand in most cases, this forum and other purposely built socials media like Reddit subs are the only areas where you can find them en masse.
And yeah, I'm one of them.

There's nothing wrong with being a "Bitcoin Maximalist" it just means you are making the most conservative approaches to your investments.

There are TONS of alt coin chains with tons of issues that Bitcoin doesn't have because it does not attempt to be the whole show at layer 1.

I would say its totally fine to experiment and especially earn some free cheddar from airdrops from these (very ponzi like) EVM chains with extremely questionable decentralization and monetary policy.
Simply take the free money they are offering to you and buy Bitcoin with it, it's fun. Just don't get trapped claiming some easily inflatable and likely highly insecure protocol is better than Bitcoin because it is likely that you are mathematically incorrect.

I've seen Maximalists still discussing and investing in some altcoins, or it could be they are receiving airdrop but I've seen some also investing in ETH and other altcoins. But probably will just dump the altcoins before the bull run stops. You still can consider them investors in some altcoins as long as they are early as possible that they could buy altcoins at $0.001. Not very different from the short sellers at penny stocks.

I find myself at this point, Bitcoin was designed to allow transactions without the need for an intermediary. The decentralized system inherent in Bitcoin makes shipping costs very cheap, fast and not hindered by distance/time. The purpose of Bitcoin was designed due to public distrust with a centralized financial system method, third parties can control everything. In addition, there is no transparency in every transaction that allows data manipulation.
Bitcoin is more directional and has an extraordinary blockchain system and anyone can view transactions through the Bitcoin explorer because it is very transparent.

I admire Bitcoin and its possibilities, but I consider myself as an investor, I prefer using other coins for transactions. I don't want to waste my Bitcoin, to be honest, and I'm waiting for the best opportunity to take profits.

I am a technocrat and an investor.  I believe bitcoin will become the dominant digital network but I also love investing that's why I choose investors.  I already have some BTC and it's from my few years trading in cryptocurrency world.  I think that in the future cryptocurrency will become one of the popular means of payment in the world.

So what's the difference between the three?

Aside from the Skeptics which is obviously not where I belong, I think those 2 options out there (Maximalist and Technocrate) fall under investor option. Well, I guess I'm just a simple investor in the end. Well, aside from the investor option, maybe I can consider myself as a Maximalist because I see Bitcoin as a global freedom, and it's the only cryptocurrency that matters to me. I'm not a Technocrate, and obviously not a skeptic.

I have been every Bitcoiner you've noted. At first, I was a maximalist, then I switched to skeptic. Then, I was a little bit maximalist and technocrate. Then, I started questioning maximalism even more. Throughout my Bitcoin journey, I've also been an investor-- both financially and technically.

If I say that I'm a maximalist, it also means that I'm an investor too right?

So what's the difference between the three?

I don't rely on his description. To me, maximalism is being obsessed, investor being invested in whatever, and technocrate being expert on some technical field.
